On the later rotary controls - pull off the middle knob, pull off the green plastic thing now revealed (this is the bulb carrier) - from what I remember it's just a straight out & in with the bulb.... then "re-assembly is the reverse of this procedure"...

Have you tried re-synching the fobs by pressing the arm/disarm button for 15 secs when next to the car...??? Or failing that, there's a recommended re-setup procedure after changing the car battery...
-
Sorry to see you gone over to the dark side :D  Seriuosly, congrats Jim, hope you'll both be very happy together.... sounds like an awesome Corrado... Does this car win the "owned by most Forum Members" prize then, 3 so far... ???

I bought most of my leds bulbs from SuperBrightLEDs in the states (even with shipping and tax they're still cheaper if you buy a few...) - I've been experimenting with LED bulbs for some time now... don't be fooled by claims of high light outputs - they may be nice and bright in a very concentrated beam, but rarely produce anywhere near the total light output of a good old filament bulb. Bear in mind also that all the corrado's lenses, reflectors & optics have been designed for bulbs that emit light in all directions, and may produce less than perfect results with a narrow angle led beam... The only LED bulbs I'm left with now that I'm happy with are 30 LED red stop/tail lamps, and a custom built white LED array in the interrior light and map reading lights...

I've been completely hypnotised by Goldfrapp's "Black Cherry" - so much so that I've copied the disc 12 times and put it in every slot in the CD Changer... ...and I want to marry Alison Goldfrapp... :D  8)

Checked my water pump today, as it's becoming evermore vocal lately and found some play in both the pump itself and the belt tensioner pulley! Is there usually any play in the tensioner? Also, more worryingly I noticed a definite wobble on the crankshaft pulley - it looks as if the thing's loose! Has anyone else noticed any wobbly motion in theirs? With the belt tension released there's no discernable play in the crankshaft pulley itself, and I can't budge the pulley bolt either way so it seems to be nice & tight, it just doesn't look good wobbling around.... any ideas? Heaven forbid it's the end of the crank that's bent    Chris (perplexed, and eyeing up a lightened pulley set...)

Dealer's talking complete bo11ocks! Just had my C repaired in Nov at the bodyshop for a small scuff (actually complete front end :-) :-) ) - they had no problem sourcing a new VR6 badge for the grille from VW...: Parts nos are 535 853 679 QN5 for the early red type 535 853 679 GX2 for the later chrome type Described on ETKA as "Inscription"... hope that helps

That's just it - I've never noticed the TC trying to do anything at all - no noise, no vibration - which led me to ask all those months ago http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... order=asc& I think the "it doesn't work over half throttle" bit is a myth too - as far as I can tell (Bentley/ETKA etc.) there's absolutely no link between the ABS and the ECU so how does the ABS know if you've applied "over half throttle"??? :? :?:
-
You can't disable it - unles you "disable" the ABS... disconnect one of the ABS sensors (front strut tops under the bonnet) ==> no ABS ==> No Traction Control :-) But its effect is so subtle (i.e. crap) that you can't notice it, even when it's working.... :? :?

And they are talking complete bo11ocks! If yours is a VR, it has the Bosch motronic ECU so it has exactly the same "Features" as later VR's that have the OBDII-style 16 pin connector. All you need is an adaptor lead and yours will talk to VAG-COM - and the pukka VW diagnostics tools (VAG1551 etc.) see http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/2x2.html -- the picture showing the actual adapter VW dealers should be using :-) Maybe they're just being lazy, and when the refer to "later versions" they mean the newest Golfs/Passats/ etc. generally having more detailed diagnostics systems???

last ever storm for sale on exchange and mart!
stormseeker replied to chrishill's topic in General Car Chat
This is the one where purely because the VIN ends "...500" some numpty thinks that it's Storm number 500 :D some sad ignorant muppet will probably buy it... As already stated, the last one was driven from the UK by the editor of Top Gear at the time back to the Karmann Museum at Onsabruck. Allegedy the last Corrado ever off the production line had a VIN ending SK004043 and mine ends 3946 - so I could claim that mine was one of the last 100 ever made! There you go - bumped the value up a bit more ;-) And I believe that Storm production was spaced randomly throughout the '95 model year's run, so the VINs won't all be consecutive anyway. (After all they were only VR6's with BBS solitudes and in the case of the Mystic blue Storms, different paint - supplied to the UK just like any other VR6 ready to be badged up by the dealers) -
Fair point! When I had my little crash (!) last Sep. - which was my fault - the insurance company sent round a "claims investigator" to interview me. Initially I thought this might be beacuse the other party was claiming for personal injusry (whiplash) and they wanted to get a statement from me about what happened. But after seeing the documentation this guy was filling in, it became clear that they were really looking for a way to get out of liability. This guy went over all the documents I have for the car with a fine-toothed comb! MoT, V5, Insurance, purchase receipts etc. He even asked me when/where I had the car MoT'd, and if I was with the car when it was done! The he went over if the car was modded - wheels/tyres, engine bodykits etc. There were two big boxes on the front of his wad of forms that I got the feeling he was just dying to tick... 1. fraud suspected 2. insurance invalidated SO it pays to be safe - due to the number of fraudulent claims and fiddles/conmen around nowadays they're looking for the tiniest excuse not to pay up....
