made my own adapter last week before I went to look at a local VR6 that was for sale for jims16v Don't know how it gets there but it goes to the ECU and the ABS. Unfortunately for G60 owners VAG-COM can only talk to the ABS, not the G60's ECU. Have a look here - http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/dlc.html for possible locations of your plugs...
-
If you can let us know what leads you've got with your VAG-COM (The 16pin OBD2 style connector and/or the older 2x2 connectors) and what area you're prepared to cover (Staffs?) I'll edit you into the top message...

Sounds a touch heavy on the wallet? Glad you've got it sorted! ;-) :-)

OK, are you having some ECU/ABS related problems and want to scan those DTCs? This is the place to be - where forum users can check to see if there's anyone in their local vicinity with VAG-COM, the PC based VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda diagnostics tool. Drop your local volunteer a PM or email and we'll see what we can do! :-) for clarification: The 95 model year cars got the "16pin OBD2" style diags connector, whereas earlier cars will have the "2x2" connectors - if you're unsure which your car has, just pull gently up on the gearshift boot plastic surround and the diags socket will be exposed underneath... see pictures below for clarification Stormseeker - 16pin OBD2 and 2x2 connectors - can cover Lancs, Merseyside & Cheshire dan_r_901 - VAG-COM 16pin OBD2- Surrey corradovr6sc - VAG-COM 16pin OBD2 - N. FOR REFERENCE: VAG-COM can only communicate with the VR6's Motronic ECU (not G60's Digifant or 16v/8v's) but all Corrados' ABS, Auto G.box and OE Immobiliser (if fitted). Below are pictures of the two types of diagnostics interface found on the Corrado...

The only ones I've seen have been left unpainted. Also I've heard horror stories of people being de-capitated by the un-bending CF bonnets in serious frontal impacts...

mine does 234 km/h :-)

The consensus of opinion seems to be no. The run of storm production was scattered through the final model year's run, so the VINs are anywhere in that year's range. Bear in mind that the storms were built by Karmann as standard VR6's with BBS solitude wheels (and in the case of the blue ones, "non-Corrado-standard" paint!) and it was the dealers in the UK that applied the Storm badges when they got here... Maybe VW @ Milton Keynes hold a register somewhere, I know you can phone up the 0800 cust. svc line and they'll tell you from the VIN if it's a genuine storm. Or maybe someone in the CCGB holds a register? (Chris Gaskell???) And the last Storm to be made ("No. 500" !!!) is in the VW museum at Wolfsburg.

might need a bit more info: what happens when you turn the key in the drivers door lock? Does the pass. door/ boot/fuel cap lock? can you hear the pump (located behind a panel in the boot, driver's side) making any noise? Do you have an alarm? Does that lock any of the doors/boot etc.? If the sunroof/windows are open do they attempt to close if you hold the key in the "locking" position ? Have you checked all the fuses?

I wonder if it's because they are so well known, well "advertised" if you like, that these crims are just typing "modified Sierra RS500" in google and finding them to order  or trawling the forums looking for cars to nick... they must be after stripping it down (lots of juicy modified bits to sell on? or export it?), as it is so well known that surely no one would touch it in this country?

Couple of links for you: http://www.comp.co.uk/techinfo/techinfo1.htm# http://www.vptuning.com/rims.html 2nd one is Volvo !!! but has a better diagram (right down the bottom of the page) -
Weren't oe alarms Scorpion? My OE scorpion siren (and all the brains are in there too I think) is in the engine bay, just above the ABS block...

Does the 'Traction control' thing make any difference?
stormseeker replied to Rawhide's topic in General Car Chat
The ABS light only ever comes on during reset of the controller during its self test (such as when it's powered up or when you disconnect VAG-COM) or when there's a fault condition that affects the ani-lock function. A fault isolated in the EDL function won't even light the light. And it certainly doesn't come on when the TC is faffing about with its pathetic attempt at reigning in the wheelspin... -

That's why you'd put "traction AND control" in the search box - 21 matches! ;-) I thought it would be easier (and more useful) putting links to threads where this has already been discussed (ad nauseum) rather then just typing "no, it's crap" :-) -
You have a lot to learn about Corrados! Haven't driven a Pug since my 205 GTi 1.9 so can't comment on the gti6, but it seems to be regarded as a pale imitation of the 205. On driving satisfaction/grin factor I would rate the 205 GTi 1.9 ever so slightly higher than my VR6, but the VR6 is better in so many other ways...

Apologies for the poor state of the wheel and centre cap (not mine :-) ) http://shmoo.plus.com:300/k119yuk/IMG_0471.JPG TBH I would prefer the VW centre caps on mine, rather than the speedline ones... -
It is replaceable, Apple were just trying to charge a £50-odd "service charge" to replace it They are being forced to replace it free of charge following a class action in the US...
