Look - it's spawned a twin... Testing on the bench (desk!) showing 0.7V in dot mode. (Note the copious amounts of green PVC tape used for that professional look!) Only cost me £4 for the bargraph driver chip as I had all the other bits lying around in my numerous boxes of bits :-) :D Just need to hack into the loom and find somewhere to mount it... bit tight for room with the heated seat controls being in the stack where Kev mounted his. Might move the ABS warning light to the single square blank next to the heated rear window switch and put the LED meter in a blank where the ABS light was. Always thought the big orange ABS light was a bit OTT :-)

Spoiler stops working below freezing!?

Isn't that what the manual switch is for? :D :) :D -
Soon to be fitted with the patented KevHaywire A/F meter...

Well spotted - you should be on http://www.photosig.com/ :-) :-) Actually they were sort of khaki-ish, honest. Just 'cos it's an 80s/90s coupe, I wasn't going the whole Crockett & Tubbs white suit & espadrilles - honest! Reminds me of the link to an ebay sale doing the rounds on email a while back where some guy had photographed his shiny thing he was selling (guitar - ? can't remember) whilst NAKED... :?

Would probably still have made the same choice - I've had all sorts of hassles at home over the last few months with missus's knee operation, child related shenanigins etc. and wouldn't have been able to spend the time & effort looking for another Corrado. At least having it repaired I got the use of a courtesy car; written off and I'd have a cheque & no car... If over the next few months it really doesn't feel right any more then I can always sell it next year & look for a storm (my original intention anyway, hence the nickname...)

Not a Write Off :-))) and now fixed...

just added a pic post-reapir - nice and shiny again... -
Well I managed to talk up the value to £6000 - £6250 with evidence from Autotrader of similar age/mileage cars, and the inital estimate was £4500 (£3500 parts, the rest paint & labour! ). My excess is £650  so that took the ins. companies bill down to £3850 which was on the edge of the 2/3 of value "uneconomical to repair" limit so they gave me the choice of write off or repair. At the time I thought the least hassle option would be to get it repaired...

It was a nightmare - the bodyshop blame VW parts all the time for sending the wrong bits (which I can easily believe) but 8 weeks and they still can't get the right rubbing strip for the wing... mental I'm glad to see the back of the courtesy fiesta though !!!

Twilight violet standard VR6, M***RKY spotted crossing the railiway crossing in Birkdale, Southport, yesterday morning 10:30 ish 27/11/2003??? -
YES I AM SHOUTING! GOT MY C BACK YESTERDAY! Only been at the bodyshop for 8 weeks and 3 days following my, errrm, slight bump   back at the end of Sep. Still missing the rubbing strip from the passenger side wing though. D'oh. Spent the last two weeks getting the paint finish up to scratch, battling with flat batteries, fuel pump blowing fuses and dodgy Scorpion OE alarm... Anyway the moral of the story (apart from always pay full attention when turning right!) is that Lex Preston (VW dealer used by bodyshop to source parts) are worse than hopeless w4nkers. And the bodyshop needs a daily kick up the arse to keep them on top of the job. Total repair bill was close to £5k    Was very nervous this morning passing the very spot where it happened... although in the interests of safety, I did give the car a thorough high speed test down some nice quiet stretches of dual carriage first off...

Jag XJ-R (Supercharged V8 :-) ) on a Jaguar sponsored test drive day at Harewood House, Yorkshire - £52k ish. Got to take it out unaccompanied for approx. 40minutes - wow
-
Ask Guy Hartley.... ;-) Have a look at the Stealth Rolling Road day pics at http://www.welsh-wizard.net/StealthRR/ Guy's legendary "charged up Storm" is the mystic blue one with 17" BBS wheels, big Tar-ox brakes and In-Pro rear lights...

Do you think the std. gearbox/driveshafts could cope with that? OK so they RPM being so low might force some changes to the final drive ratio, but all that torque might just chew the driveshafts up a bit! ;-)
-
Doesn't the owners manual tell you to take the whole unit out to change the bulb anyway???
-
Try this...

http://www.bath.ac.uk/~ccsshb/12cyl/ might fit in a Corrado....

Saw a Corrado about 21:00 last night (Sun 9/11/03) parked in Cemetry Rd/Eastbourne Rd Southport possibly belonging to "MIKE D" as the numberplate had been made to look like this. Couldn't tell is if was Aqua blue or dark green colour and couldn't make the model out either as I sped past. Non standard alloys though... and looking very tidy! -
"a bit of T-cut & maybe the tracking sorted perhaps

Wonder if this was why the BBC Top Gear crew couldn't film the Lambo they had lined up??? -
The researcher that I spoke to when they posted the "wanted" ad for cars to film, said that they had a film crew lined up to shoot a piece on a Lamborghini Diablo - but the Lambo couldn't make it, cancelling with only a few days notice. So they were conducting a quick poll round the office of cars they'd always meant to feature but hadn't got round to - and the Corrado VR6 came out on top :-) So rather than waste the film crew that was lined up they got Nick's car & filmed it! This guy also mentioned that his boss had taken the last Storm produced back to the Karmann museum...

I certainly didn't intend crashing  - If you have an accident you don't usually have the choice to aim for a tree or post - first thing I knew about my recent crash was when I saw a Mondeo stuck to my bonnet  look what happened to mine! (follow "slightly modified front end" link in my sig..) First accident I've had in 18 years of driving that was my fault... (what a p1$$er that it was in most loved car I've had in those 18 years though!) £4500 repair bill so far.... Just a cautionary tale (not meaning to put you off like ;-) ) you just can't predict the unpredictable

there's also Mr Haywire's guide here

If you already know the fault codes - you can decode them try this site or this one :-)
