  1. My old G60 (J754WBO) runs an American hatch and VAG third brake light. Looked Ok, and gave a bright light. Shame it involved an old guy driving a Shogun 4x4 into the back of the car and ~5k insurance bill to obtain the third brake light!! You can buy the brake light from ARZ, but I believe metal work on the UK hatch needs surgery to fit it.
  2. No, I'm a Petrol Head. The C just happens to be the only car that I must have, for so many reasons.
  3. Cazza, those rear lights do look good ... just waiting for mine to arrive, been 3wks now :-( That's an amazing amount of damage!!! Were you able to make it over to the Air Ballon?
  4. If you *have* to get the box rebuilt then I'd fit the VR6 1st and 2nd just to make road driving more fun. For track outings hopefully you won't be needing 1st and 2nd gears much anyway!! Fit a shift light system, to remind you not to over-rev the s/c... Oh, and a baffled sump to reduce oil starvation and an oil cooler.

    Charge cooler sizing ...

Chargecooler, is there a rule of thumb for the header tank size? I thought the flimsy'ish ~4ltr washer bottle would be Ok for a G60 application as the charge for a mildly tuned setup shouldn't get that hot. I'd have thought a turbo'd VR6 or G60 would run charge considerably hotter?
  6. Not for looks but should do job, how about the Wiechers rear bar that you can get from Dubmeister? BBM have a rear shiny alloy one on their website that is easily removable. Perhaps G-Werks are able to supply that?

    G60 catch tanks?

I found this place which looks like an Ok price!? http://www.nfauto.co.uk/oil_catch_tank.htm
  8. I only know AMD from back in the mid 90's when it was Geoff and Mike (names correct?). They were really good then. Is this now "Dumbing Down" of the tuning industry?

    Charge cooler sizing ...

CrazyDave, I was also thinking of using the washer bottle in the same manner.
  10. Probably the Golf for long term ownership, thought not convinced by build quality Interested to see how the Mazda-3 does as it's a Focus chassis.... Mazda-3 is a 4pot 2.3ltr chain drive cam' with semi-active diff I believe ... just a FWD version of the Mazda-6 MPS 4WD.

    Charge cooler sizing ...

Cool! So a 400CFM (290bhp) 4"x8" AVT Chargecooler (PWR Barrel) would be up to the job. Interesting... My knowledge has only come from my best pal Google :-) chargecooler - are you David from AVT? Google'd posts on PistonHeads regarding the Barrel :-) So this CC and the biggest rad I can fit in good air flow!

    Which tail lights?

They do look good Oxfordpaul on your Aqua Blue. I've now got some on order for my Inca Blue G60 :-)

    brake upgrade

Out of interest, is that fit an ABS MC from a G60 or VR6? ... just pondering, as my '91 G60 is non-ABS.

    R32

I'd hang out for a drive in the Cupra, and then decide. I still think the Mk5 looks too mini-MPV! As for DSG, I prefer the involvment of a manual box. Sport mode was fun though. Ok, it's a Beemer and I hate the image of them ... but how about a 130i M Sport. RWD and an absolutely fantastic engine note!! Not to bad a punt on the twisties either.

    Charge cooler sizing ...

I've always liked the idea of the CC as you get a lot less boost pipe run. ...but you're right, FMIC is the cheaper and lighter option. I don't think 400CFM is enough flow :-( CNC Heads has the PG *std* head flowing 81.1 on the inlet (per cylinder?), so 325CFM. Their flowed std valve does 423CFM. Your 16v head would flow even more!
  16. Bored at work ... and stumbled upon chargecooler.co.uk, as do :-) Would a unit that flows 400CFM be up to the job for a std head G60? Stretching it here, and even a G-Werks flowed head? They do a 950CFM version, but it costs more :-(

    Which tail lights?

Cazza, Cool! When you've fitted them post a pic as I'd love to see what they look like.

    New G

I have a selection of interior bits if interested - all grey .... From a '92 G60, with a not so straight chassis.
  19. The Halfords +50% setup is good! Many moons ago I to went the LowG route, though mine were 130/90W. They died too quickly though :-(
  20. Ok, it aint VAG but I'll keep banging on about this car to anyone that's thinking of 5dr large hatchbacks - Mazda6 Sport 2ltr diesel 143PS 266lbft. The engine is *very* good for a 4pot diesel. Doesn't sound tractor like, as the VAG 140 TDI does. Plus, the reason I like it most, the front end has very positive turn in and good steering weight. It gives you confidence to chuck it around the twisties :-) The only good 4 pot VAG diesel is the 170 as it pulls like a train in the Mk5 GT. I'd love a 330d, but I hated the BMW image. ... I'll get me coat!
  21. Sounds like a good plan you have there! Good luck with the journey, and enjoy Portugal :-) LJ
  22. Warning!! Shameless "I have bonnet and it'll cost you way way less than 700quid" plug. I'm breaking a 92 G60, and its bonnet is the late style which is the same as the normal VR6s. It's metallic black, would need spraying to be A1, due to stone chips. No sound proof lining though. Plus I'm in Gloucester, which isn't too far from the west midlands :-)
  23. I definetly do! Wish I was as lucky as Rodders with his current Porsche ownership, but I have managed to own a Boxster for a short while. I miss the flat 6 at 7000rpm sound :-(
  24. Watched this back in the day (ala. '88) and the reason I always wanted the G60 :-) ... I was confused by the noise also, as engine bay shot on this prototype car also has the black silencer box on the outlet of the SC. Oh yeah, and I archived the clip, using a Firefox plugin to download and then converted to MPEG using ffmpeg under Linux :-)
  25. He's great in GP2, ane hope he still shines in F1. I really miss the Senna days :-( He was the best!
