  1. Thermostat is about 6 weeks old and is a a VAG item. I'm not concerned at all about water temps, it bothers me that the oil temps have dropped by about 4-6 degs across all running conditions.
  2. Oil temps have been fine since I took ownership of the car but after getting it back from the bodyshop for rear end paint this week the temps have been lower and the gauge less accurate at least measured against the previous few weeks. I've noticed the following - From cold the oil temp is not warming up as quick When stood and the water temp allowed to creep up to about 105 deg the oil temp sits at about 98-100 deg where before it would be 104-106 deg Driving after letting the car stand the oil temp seems very slow to come back down, 5 mins of gentle driving the water temp is down to 85 deg and the oil temp still sitting at about 100 deg where it would normally drop to 94-96 deg. There has been nothing done to the engine or front end whilst it's been at the bodyshop for 3 days so it's probably a coincidence. I've fitted a new VAG oil temp sender with no success. Now I'm thinking it could be the gauge that's faulty. The cooling system apart from a dodgy aux water pump (not working since I've had the car) is working ok. Anyone? Thanks
  3. Right I've checked out the cooling system this morning as per the cooling guide tests, fans are working at all three stages but the aux water pump wasn't working with the fans running either with the ignition on or not. I expected to feel the pump vibrating slightly when I touched it but there was nothing. I've got no leaks from the pump. Anything else I can check?
  4. If it's the part that's about 50mm long that fits over a rod in the lock mech then they are still available I bought one about a month back.
  5. I've always prefered the Rado with them. As Jim says it breaks up the colour on lighter cars at least.

    Key locks

Yep I've a got a spare, only thing is when you retumble you will probaly need a different configuration of tumblers so you could do with some spares. I've got some but didn't want to give them all away as I'd like to keep some as spares. I'm sure we can work something out. Do you want to collect or should I post? Dave

I think I've got a spare but you'll need to retumble.
  8. I don't think mine runs on ignition, I guess it's buggered? Will this cause me a big problem?
  9. You do know I have a Black VR now not the Red valver? If it was the valver you would have spotted Mark who is now the new owner.
  10. I don't think it's the mechanism as it works great on the switch.
  11. I will have a look tomorrow. Ta
  12. I didn't use a bung - I made up Stainless bung/backing disc affair that sit's flush with the body. I can get a pic up if you like.
  13. Did mine this week as it happens. Much better without.
  14. I've searched but couldn't find anything that helps. Spoiler doesn't rise automatically but works ok with the button. It's not worked since I've had the car so there's nothing I can possibly relate it to. I've changed the module and clipped the blue/white wire to the head unit both without success. Is there anything simple I'm missing or am I looking at an electrical fault somewhere? Can't help thinking it's something down by the fuseboard as there appears to be some Green connectors not hooked up and also some random wires cut or not connected but I think these are old alarm related. Any help very much appreciated. Dave
  15. I saw 2 today within 2 mins. Green valver parked opposite work on Colwick Ind Estate. 2nd was a Green VR again in Colwick, waved but didn't get a response.
  16. Don't forget when it's hot it expands so will poke further out.
  17. My motor wasn't noisy but still smoked. As said above changing the motor is easy.
  18. This may or not help but I had smoke out of my vents when I got my VR and worse than yours by the sounds of it. Mine turned out to be a dodgy heater motor, changed that and all is fine. The motor may have contracted something if the shed had been damp and not used for 8 months.
  19. Are these still available? Can you PM me details please. Thanks Dave
  20. Anyone used this tape - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Scapa-Rayon-Cloth ... 3efd0c4d2e
  21. Good luck Adam, agreed ALWAYS best to see the car before commiting no matter how far it is, within reason of course. Maybe we'll see you at the next east mids gathering.
  22. John, I don't know which way I'm going with the suspension set-up so I'll leave it but thanks for the offer. Attached are the part number and spring markings taken directly off the Eibach website. If anyone can help I will be very grateful.
  23. Photo of the rear, can't see the markings on the front. John, I'll let you know if I'm interested. Thanks
