  1. That's not far from me, I'm interested.
  2. Update time – Last week the water pump decided to give up so whilst the coolant was out I decided I’ll do the Mk4 header tank upgrade. All went well until it was time to mount the header tank, now I know the header tank isn’t a straight swap so expected a little battle with the mounting points. Not happy with a ‘make it fit’ approach I decided it was time to do a complete custom bracket made from.......you guessed it – Polished Stainless. It made sense as the extended hose would have crossed over the fan controller and would have started to wear over time. So the mounting holes were adjusted, Mk4 header tank bottom mounting recreated, the bracket that holds the hose clip removed and the fan controller position dropped by 40mm. Apart from those changes the bracket remains as close as possible to the original item. The small bracket at the front is there to mount the alarm siren which was originally mounted on the piece that holds the hose clip. If I ever remove/replace the alarm I can remove the siren bracket separately. All mounting bolts, washers, nuts and screws replaced with Stainless items. I’ve attached a photo showing the evolution from VAG bracket to Stainless bracket. Looking from left to right – 1) Original bracket 2) Cardboard template 3) Aluminium bracket 4) Stainless bracket 5) Finished Stainless bracket At each stage the design was improved and refined until stage 5 when it finally came good. The photos don’t do it justice, it looks so much better in the flesh. I’ve got some other developments to come over the next few weeks. Oh yeah I’ve swapped the ignition switch at the same time as I was getting some strange starts.
  3. Thanks, maybe you should put these in the classifieds?
  4. Not yet, I haven't forgot, I've had a few things to replace on my VR. Hoping to start on it this week.
  5. If I can get the OBD2 conversion done in time then yes put me down.
  6. Yes common problem, PM sent.
  7. Pete, I can look into making these in Stainless if you like?
  8. Blasted and Powder coated mine - see my members gallery here - http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?48656-Black-Metallic-VR-Moonroof-Install&highlight=black+metallic
  9. Noticed a rattling noise on my VR, upon closer inspection I spotted the water pump pulley wobbling slightly consistent with the rattle, does this mean the pulley is buggered or the water pump? The tensioner is fine as I've changed the bearing recently, all the other pulleys are spinning true. Cheers for any help.
  10. I've got one you can have for a fiver but you'll have to collect from M1 J25 area.
  11. Oh crap, you've put another idea in my head. Nice!
  12. Try this - http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?51360-Central-locking-not-working-CHECK-YOUR-WIRING&highlight=central+locking
  13. As far as I know you can't remove the switch, I've not known anyone to do it. Looks like another handle is on the cards, I might be able to help you with that, I think I've got a spare handle. The spring has to be tensioned before you fit it. The spring has 2 legs on it that have to be pushed passed one another to tension the spring if that makes sense.
  14. I can supply a repair kit for £15 posted. If you can open from the inside and NOT the outside then my kit will fix it.
  15. I've been designing Stainless Steel products for 10 years now, what VR6Pete is offering is plenty adequate for it's purpose.
  16. Front bottom edge of the rear wheel arch is a favourite, looks ok on the outside but once you start pulling the sealant off be prepared.
  17. I'll send you a PM. Could be the broken piece jammed in there, unlikely but still possible. When changing the handle the central locking cable has to be routed correctly otherwise it can get in the way of the window when it lowers. Maybe this was the case 5 days back?
  18. Had this with mine just recently, swapped it for another and it was fine. I know there was nothing binding as I tested it with a hand crank from a manually operated sunroof.
  19. Couldn't have put it better myself Tom.
  20. Correct the Ibiza sunroof is not electric. Good thing that your motor is dead because the Corrado motor isn't the right one, it will work but it has a slightly longer drag when pulling the roof back. Go for a Passat or Golf Mk3 motor.
  21. Yep that's what I would use next time I need some. I've got one on my exhaust too.
