  1. i think your right . it is too big. you know when you pump the brakes with the engine off. the peddal goes rock soild. well its like that when the engines on. theres no feel. and probaby not enough leverage with the pedel along to compress the calipers. dont suppose you have the part number for the 23.81mm one. that way i'll can see if i can swap it. not loose out on 140 smackers pooh pants :) also when i jacked the rear up to bleed before. they wouldn't bleed at all.. only when on the ground. so whats up there..
  2. still not working. an other ideas. :(
  3. ok fitted. now i've got almost no pedal movement. think there is still air in the system. can stamp on them and they dont lock up.. can stop the car. put not in any hurry.. could this be air or the bigger movement in oil movment. how does the servo help in brakes.
  4. cheesewire. i thought it will reduce peddal travel.

    Brakes...

  6. ooh eerr. i think i have an ebay classic special on mine. ooops. better get saving. good post and glad you got to the bottom of it.
  7. well after looking on google. i found that there is an audi 200 master cylinder thats looks like it will fit straight on and is ... 25.4mm bore. genuine audi ATE part. £139. hope it bloody works.. im fed up with spongy brakes.
  8. also where is the maf connector, and how do i tell if its in the secret testing mode.. thank you so much for all the help.
  9. i have dismantled the clock and checked it all inside, all looks ok. no burning or cracked joints. when it was in the garage. i went down to weld on a new exhaust braket. on the rear to the chassie. but the battery (and engine) where removed. could i have still damaged something. ?? arrhh
  10. i've left the battery out and nothing. and when i took the clocks out. i had one bigish connector and a vac/boost hose for the maf.. i even tried the connector on off on off to see if it fixed it. but nout.. so if i get new clocks. i could swap over my mileometer to keep my miles.. cool. i'll check the earth on the connector to chassie and see whats its like.
  11. its not something thats been left off as it was working the day before i picked it up. - i had to phone up and get the milage for the insurance renewal. just wondered if its been seen before. the work was done by a very reputable firm who we all know and i'm very pleased with it. the engine has never been so smooth. also if i have to get new clocks. if i unplug the mile-o-meter display and plug it in the new one. will it keep my mileage. or is the milage memory in a chip on the pcb board..?
  12. i run the brembo 4 pots and i had put a new 22mm cylinder in when i did the brakes. 3-4 years ago. but i 've always had a spongy brake pedal. is there a bigger master cylinder thay will fit on. say a 23 or 24 mm. i've heard the auto mk3 golfs have 23mm. and audi 200 have 24mm. is this right or am i barking up he wrong tree. ps i dont have abs.
  13. so. got the car back after a new engine. and now the dash don't work propably. speedo and revs dont move. yes checked the conectors. and the lcd is all the 8s. see pic. i have removed the unit and checked it through out for any damage. does this mean a new dash dial console.?
  14. i had the piper 270h in mine for years. factory idle. and good midrange. lots of low down torque. and maxes out at 6500. just where the g60 run out as well. i think i've got a newman in at the mo at the idle is a bit lumpy.
