simon your vr will have abs. i know nout about that. it may be worth doing a serch or a new topic for your problem. brakes are one of those things that, over any thing else. should work correctly. good luck.

dont use the car until the work can be done. even if it means getting the bus with the common folk. worped head maybe ,. or cracked piston pos defo if it runs that hot. been there. done that. not funny.

sounds like the head gasket. make sure you get the metal one. as there are 2. cant remember the numbers.

so you have seen the shift lights as well i think there well cool. i dont know which resistor. i just got a new (2nd hand) console. which i'm hoping will fix it. then i can fit my shift lights

the head gaskit itn't to bad. if you are runnnig the std ex manifold. undo the 6 blots to the down pipe only. roll the alternator over and undo the head with both manifold attached. this can be lifted off in one. then clean up and fit new gastkit. tips thou. drain the coolent and oil completly. this is to stop fluids getting in the head bolt holes- preventing them to stretch. if you are running a 4 branch. both manifolds will need to be removed. grief. gsf do the original gaskit for i think under £40. plus new bolts £14 coolent and oil and filter. £30.

well hope this helps someone. first pic is a vr6 using leon 323mm discs and leon backets but ibitza calipers second pic is g60 using the ibizta set up 305mm and matching brakets.

ok spoken to some specialists. and this is a 'common' fault, and the unit can be referbed. or get a second hand one. eitherway. mines had it. theres a restister in the pcb has blown. althou you cant see it. ... wird ah

found one. after spending 2 days asking every scrappy in the country.. but was 250 plus vat and he wanted 50 delivery. .

back to gearboxes. spoken to nearly every breakers, and some require an engine code to find the part. so if any one has this it would be helpfull.. also one had said all 020 boxes are the same...??? not true. and finally found one. the guy cant confirm if its a ctn box. - where would this be on the box? . but all mk3 tdi boxes are the same. ? and he wants 365 delivered. oouch. :( not alot of luck.

have a look in the engine bay. what does it look like in there... and under the spare wheel. defo looks resprayed. nice colour thou, good choice.

if the beam is good still. that looks like an excellent thing to do. that s what put me off buying inpro fronts. thay can look a bit. well... odd. corsa ish. sorry guys

i use std rear calipers and brembo 4 pot up front. no abs. and the 25.4 is utterly useless.. i had no brake peddal to speak of. almost no peddal movement and due to the peddal pivot had to push uncomfortable hard to come to a stop. and no matter how hard. couldn't lock up. or even come to a stop quickly. so yes it fits. but DO NOT FIT IT :shock: . it cost 140 from euros. LUCKILY i got a full refund. :lol: . i may just keep with 22mm. it works. also how diferent is the vr6 bearing housing from the g60's. and do the calpiers mount in the same place. i'm looking top put the leon 323mm on the g60. as i have a 5 stud hub. but the off set on the disc s is off and you cant pull the calpier forward. only back which is the wrong way. is the leon brembo caliper adapter different to the ibitza - other than the reach. from 305 to 323. :?

i've out put the old 22mm one on and i'm gunna try and take the 25.4mm one back. it was useless. you would have to have a foot like the bfg to use it. at least i know the od one works safely. i just need to make the leon 323mm disc fit . :?

go for the 16 vt. kkk turbo. check out some euro sites. i think they rock.300-400 bhp easy.

yes you will defo need better brakes. the 239mm discs are pants at best.even the 16v brakes are a bit pooh. you can get g60 cheap now. but you will need the whole bearing carrier. but why. sell the 8v gti and get a proper g60. it will be less and better in the long run.

so the bottom line is , we need to find a ctn box off a late mk3 1.9 tdi. can yo guys post pics up. so we can confirm fitment etc. this all sounds like 'to good to be true' wasn't the mk3 diesel cable clutched..?

gotcha. i've put the old one back on and bleed it all throu. all's back to as it was. i'll look at for the other one. there is a site which has a picture of every master cylinder. i'll check it out on there. thanks for info.
