My VR has this same creaking sound when pulling away from standstill i once read in a Performance vw mag that this is common on mk2 golfs and corrados the article mentioned that the sub frame needed to be tightend more, I guess over time it might just need that but i havnt got round to doing mine yet

Update, I've managed to take off the cooler and the two seals they do look pretty worn. Im going to order new ones from the dealer tomorrow. On inspection of the seals i noticed that each of the seal if your looking at it from the side, one side protrudes further out and i dont want to put the seals in wrong way round. I thought that the side of the seal that stands out goes in the cooler side is this right?

am gonna attempt it without removing the cross member if its really that much of a struggle ill take it off. Thanks guys
-
turbomagikz, did you support the engine when the crossmember was removed?

2cc, Star man!, do you know where this o ring seal is located? as this is whats likly causing the oil leak.
-
rite following this thread, the leak on my car is getting worse now and i think ive traced where its coming from. On the front of the engine where the oil filter is situated just a little to the right there is a silver triangle shaped block with a rubber pipe coming out of it is that the oil pump?, its leaking from that any ideas as to what it is that needs changing? thanks

well i thought the screw thats on the TB is the one for idle adjustment, its fully wound out already if it was able to screw further out then i would have disconnected the blue temp sensor and set it Henny, the ISV has been cleaned and tested works mint
-
Could it be the Lambda sensor??

On behalf of a friend, His G60 which had a brand new bottom end some 25k ago the head has been fully rebuilt and the charger is currently stage 4. The car when cold barely holds its idle and needs to be reved until a bit warm, as soon as the temp rises the idle speed goes up too. When the engine is fully warm the car runs at about 1100rpm. Changed the coolant temp sensor no difference. There is a long scew on the throttle body which is fully wound out to the limit so i assume there will be no adjustment left. What you think?

kevhaywire, either way r32 or 2.8 24v would you need the engine only or all other bits too........also the vr6 gearbox fit the 24v engines..............£1800 for r32 engine kev you should of snatched it off him
-
That comes to around 1750.........might even be able to pick up a low mileage 4 motion engine for 2k

fast x, thanx dude

What sort of cost would i be looking at if i decided to get my VR engine fully rebuilt. Roughly prices for DIY and if i had this done from a garage. Thanks
-
can you only change these with the front stripped off
-
Everytime i would switch off the engine the car drops a little oil, upon inspection it seemed to be the sump gasket so i fitted a new sump and a gasket and still its doing the same. its coming from further up and running down the block and makes it look like the sump...........cant really see much but there is a sensor on the front of the engine which it may be from but im not sure.

Thats exactly how i got guages in my vr, they look well smart with the newer heater control layout plus the orange needles match the dash

Just about to get my car undersealed and i noticed there are various plates over the exhaust most of them look in pretty bad state and i was thinking is it wise to completly remove them.
-
i did bleed the master cylinder and the abs pump, the only thing i didnt bleed was the clutch slave.....should this effect it in any way
-
so can this conversion be done?
-
pedal travel and the actual effort of the brakes, it passed MOT and the rears were initally on low effort a new set of pads sorted that.........ive had a few people drove my car and think the same that the brakes are not sharp enough............i thought maybe sod the abs malarky and stick to a simpler system.
-
i've got goodridge hoses on the rear as i changed to mk4 calipers .........the fluid is new in the whole system it took about 2 litres
-
zimmerman drilled discs (front) Pagid Pads Black Diamond Grooved (rear) with pagid pads the braking quality in my opinion is shite, maybe as this is the first car ive owned with ABS so its not somthing im used to. my mates g60 felt so much better
-
My brakes are crap despite having all four discs pads changed and the whole system has been bled 3 times............had the car hooked to VAG com and its showing one sensor down. Ive had that many problems with the ABS that i want to convert to standard master cylinder & servo...........my mate has a g60 and his brakes feel really good............can i convert to that system.
