That black one is very nice. Did they come in this spec form the factory? A couple of photos I took at Santa pod.

Many thanks to Riley for the Porsche wheel adapters.

Lippy, Didn't think you were local, hope you enjoyed your time in southend.
-
Lippy, Do you live in Southend? If you do get them refurbed at JP Polishing in Canvey, mine cost £150 including fitting tyres and balancing.
-
Looks correct to me, if you went a tooth either way it would be miles out. Is the belt pulley on the exhaust cam ligned up correctly? I'd go by that on the exhaust cam and line up the inlet to match.

Right, I had a look at a mates F reg Mk2 Valver with power steering, my rack mount is identical to his. You can just about see in the photo the mount on mine is about 25mm wide. Do you know which part number this one is? Dodgy photo of mount

Went for a drive in a 911 993 over the weekend....

Beautiful cars, I drove an M reg, manual Carrera 2, it is the best car I have ever driven. One day I will have one, hopefully parked next to my Corrado. -
Ok, cheers for that Kev, I'll have a measure up tonight.

For a 1993 Corrado 2.0 16v Powerflex list two types of bushes for the steering rack. Does anyone know which is the correct one? There is no information to distinguish between them, and I'm not having much luck getting any information from Powerflex. Gran Turismo 4 - what do you think of it?
corradophil replied to Bojmobile's topic in General Car Chat
Really? That might explain that then. It was a whole load of effort over several years to get that far. -

Not really got anywhere with it, when it came out I was on the verge of completing GT3, I only had a series race to do then all races were done. I did the series race and nothing happened, IIRC it did not even show I had done it, so GT3 is just gathering dust. Although I think GT4 is excellent, I just cannot get into it, probably completed about 2%, and I bought it when it was released. The only time I ever play it is when I'm racing my mates on 2 player arcade mode. -
Just make sure you use 6deg BTDC not 0deg, it's easy to mistake the two. IIRC 6deg has a lug sticking out of the flywheel which is used for VW's tool, and 0deg has a '0'.

I was looking at the door handles in a mates MK3 yesterday, they do look cery similar, but hard to say without comparing the two items off the car. Maybe a check in etka would shed some light on this. If the part numbers match up then we know for definate, if not the two need comparing side by side.

Mines used every day, curretly doing about 300 miles per week.

I've got both gearbox and front mounts from GSF, they've been on for a couple of years and are fine, plus I'm running a little more power than standard.

Rebuild the O/S driveshaft which I suspect has a dead inner CV joint. I'm going to replace both whilst it is appart. Fit new rotor arm and dizzy cap - should take hours! Continue my hunt for the really annoying rattle somewhere in the back.

Knocking which varies with speed - Suggestions please.
corradophil replied to corradophil's topic in Drivetrain
I doubt you'll notice any difference, but VW did fit them for a reason. -

A rubber donut on the O/S (longest) driveshaft only. After driving to work this morning I am 99.9% sure it is one of the CV joints on the O/S drive shaft. -
Last night when I was going out I noticed a slight knocking for about 10 seconds, this happened whilst going in a straight line doing about 25mph. It stopped and did not happen again until I was coming home after having covered around 20 miles. This time I was doing about 60mph and it was more severe. Today it did not do it at all until later on tonight when it did it again for few seconds at various random times. It changes with road speead, it is unaffected by what gear you are in including neutral. My first thoughts were, is it the torsional damper weight on the O/S driveshaft come loose and moving around on the shaft, sometimes catching something, but I had a quick look and it is not this. It is similar to the sound you get from the exhaust hitting the underneath of the car, but the exhaust is all secure, plus I've never experienced a knocking exhaust which is directly effected by road speed. I reset all the engine mount positions at the weekend, but I am 100% possitive all the bolts are tight, I will inspect to see if the engine is catching on anything as a result of this, although again I can't see it being so directly related to road speed. All CV gaitors are fine and there is no knocking on lock like you usually get with warn joints, and you can feel this through the floor of the car, almost like someone hitting it with a hammer. So before I get underneath it on Saturday to find out what is wrong, any suggestions of things I've not covered would be very useful.

I come across this situation a lot, one car holding up everyone else, who cannot be bothered to pass when it is safe for them to do so. So why do we want to pass? Because we are in a hurry - time seems to become more and more precious, and it is infuriating having it waisted because of others choices? We are running late and being made later by someone else? We are boy racers out for a race who don't care about other road users? I love driving my car fast on a good road in good conditions, and if I am driving for the fun of it I can accept waiting without to much of a problem. The main factor for me to want to get past has to be time, and I think this is not so much of an issue with driving, but an issue with having a life which is more busy than I would like, so every minute becomes more important. People hold you up, which frustrates you, and thats where problems start, as soon as you become angry your perspective gets distorted. Oh yes by the way I would overtake as long as it was safe to do so.

How about the rollers which sit in the window runner at the base of the window. click me

Blinky16v, Good news then. I would rather spend the extra and get Stealth to do a custom map for my car on 95 octane undleaded than get one off ebay. I'd be happier knowing everything is spot on. Hmmm maybe a chat with Vince is in order.

I noticed the wiper spindles on mine were not perpendicular to the screen, they slanted towards the front of the car. A little bending of the wiper mechanism chassis straightened them out and increased the pressure. Mines still on standard wipers, and they work ok at normal speeds, but I would like to improve them.

Link fixed! Don't know what happened there...

Post from Club GTI forum, maybe a good alternative to Lupo GTI wipers. "I have a Golf but my wife has a Audi TT and she has just bought a pair of Retro-Fit Flatblade wipers like the ones you get on the new Polo’s etc. Here is the link to the TT forum on this: Link Apparently they use the same clip as normal arms so can be fitted on all cars, just thought I would give you all the heads up as I tried to get Bosch ones for my car and I needed to buy a replacement arm (£90 in total!!!!) and these blades only cost £19! The site they are talking about is http://www.1stautobulbs.com and there is a link on their homepage for the Fusion Flatblades"
