Yes, that is my understanding too. You are supposed to run in brand new cams. A few years ago a mate got a hammer through his garage door from an enraged neighbour beacuse he was running in a new cam in his 8V Golf running twin 45 webbers.

Very smart, I think they'll update the interior nicely.

I missed that in the 1st post! Got to be a wiring issue then, a poor connection, maybe an earth?

My water temp usually sits around 90 degC, and oil at 106 degC. I would want to confirm the oil pressure is ok if it was my car. Other than the oil pressure warning buzzer I cannot think of anything else which would make a loud noise behind the instruments.
-
Sounds like the oil pressure warning buzzer to me too. Check your oil pressure is ok before driving any further. Was the oil pressure warning light flashing on the dash?

Steering rack issues solutions and swaps....

My 16v has the horseshoes. All my bolts are torqued to 130NM and still knocks, and it is getting worse. I think I'll wait until it becomes very regular, then hopefully I may find where it is coming from. -
Porka wheels??

Green VR6 parked behind me at the pod yesterday, oh and Spencer Tram's, although I didn't see it run. -
It's worth looking out for a Haynes manual for a Passat, they had the 9A engine and there are some details in there for setting up/testing KE-Motronic.

Sounds very similar to when my front wishbone bushes failed. Under hard acceleration it pulled to the right. It was the N/S bushes that failed.

From the picture it looks like the oil has come from elsewhere, maybe cam cover or dizzy. There should not be any oil in there! What you can see is the flywheel and starter motor ring gear. Just check your oil levels are ok.

I agree, get the tool and you can do it yourself for less than you'll be charged and you'll have the tool for next time then. -
niels, Yes please.

I can see a new group buy appearing soon!

Blinky16v, How much is he charging for the custom chip, is he going to put it on the rollers to and give you a power read out too?
-
Pretty sure Dinkus is right.

Don't know, it's something I've though of doing in the past, but not sure if anyone makes them.

C*nts, at least they didn't do any other damage. They should be forced to eat all the broken glass from your windows, that punishment would fit the crime, and if get caught a second time maybe their eyes should be removed. They'd never do it again after that.

Various racing drivers seem to do it differently, alot twist their foot to around towards being horizontal, but I saw Tiff Needell doing it with his foot vertical, one half on the break the other half tapping the throttle peddle. I've tried it a few times, sometimes I get it right other times I don't, but I'm sure with practice I could do it well in my C.

Sheffield to Burnham-on-Crouch. About 210 miles. It stopped of in Watford for a couple of years whilst on it's way.

Yes, I remember watching them race on TV, amaizing stuff, I'd love to watch truck racing live, but it seems to rarely happen.

oilman, Interesting reading your comments about oil standing up to high temperatures in highly tuned engines. What temperature range would you suggest is acceptable with a standard oil i.e. Quantum Silver? VW say if the oil temp reaches 145 deg C reduce the engine speed. In light use say 50 mph in 5th gear my cars oil temp sits at around 106 deg C which is well under the max suggested by VW. The highest I remember seeing is 120 deg C. In your opinion is Quantum Silver up to the job?

No sticking with the Corrado, although they are pretty nice. I remember seeing one being driven hard ages ago and it sounded gorgeous. What made me look was last week I had a little blast off a roundabout with one, and I wandered what spec they were. I kept with him, but he can't have been trying very hard. I then spotted the 3d view which I thought was really good, you can look at the car from any angle, zoom in and out and open the doors and bonnet. A lot of work must have gone into that.

Controversial - Which type of Corrado has the best sound?
corradophil replied to Bojmobile's topic in General Car Chat
Got to be a VR6 for me, although my Valver sounds pretty throaty at high revs. Seen a few video clips of R32 engined Corrados, they sound even better in my opinion. For non Corrado engines, BMW straight six, Porsche flat 6, Ferrari and Lambo V10 and V12s. Also love a highly tuned Amercan V8.
