  1. Really! I take it, it was a turbo, my dad has a NA 20v (125bhp) and that is no match for a valver. I certainly would expect to beat a 150bhp 20vt Golf, although if it was revo'd that may be a different matter.
  2. I've got a Futaba high torque servo in mine and a Tekin speed conrtoller with a break which used the motor as a dynamo and charged the cells whilst breaking. I ran Panasonic 1700mAh cells.
  3. The first thing to do is find our the diameter of the hole they need to fill, although I think most are 76mm. Some are concave, some flat. If you want polished ones you need to make sure they are not plastic, unless you like the polished plastic look. I got a set of 4 plastic caps to suit Design 90s on ebay for £15.

lamwagon, Thanks for the info, I've found their advert which suggests they come with all the bolts required! .Rich., They are lovely wheels, shame they don't come with the car they belong too..
  5. Yep, it certianly had plenty of low down grunt, it also had loads of traction, it would just dig in and go where my C starts spinning and bouncing around. A mate has a 150 TDI Leon Cupra and his gf has a 1.8t Leon Cupras, I think a scientific comparison is required. He reckons my C would beat his Seat, whereas I'm not so sure, I know she would definately bet on her car being faster than mine.
  6. pkripper, What size tyres are you using on them? I totally agree with the comments, an excelent choice of wheel.
  7. I still do, so if anyone has any suggestions of something cheap which is the right wheelbase, track length and width, that would be useful.
  8. I had a little burn with an Audi TT 180bhp (single exhaust), I thought he was going to leave me, but we were pretty even up to 60, and then in 3rd I crept away from him. I used to have a Leon Cupra with the 180bhp 1.8t and always thought that was quicker than my Corrado, but maybe not. I did have a little blast in the Leon with a Mk2 Golf 16v, which apparently is standard apart from a 4 branch manifold, magnex system and K & N, and we were evenly matched, I was quite dissapointed by that. The Leon always felt pretty damn rapid.
  9. I fitted poly bushes on the front and oem on the rear, and recommend it.
  10. True, my mate used to have one, although it didn't stand a chance against my standard 8v Mk2 GTI, and also would not against my Corrado. wilkes, I keep reading about these Blitzchips, did it make a worthwhile improvement? Ideally I'd like to get mine remapped properly yo suit my set up, but amd want something like £350 to do that. Anyone no of anywhere else who would do a good job of it for less?
  11. Do the ali ones have helicoils, or steel inserts for the thread or do you screw directly into the ali? Do they come with a TUV certificate and torque settings for the bolts. My main concern is that ali is obviously soft so easier to strip the thread.
  12. I need to buy some adapters to go from 4 stud 100 PCD to % stud 130 PCD. There are two options, Steel, or Aluminium. Steel Pros. cheaper, I'd rather be screwing the wheel bolts into steel. Cons. Heavier, larger unsprung weight effecting handling, and more inertia which may impact on acceleration and breaking. Ali Pros. Lighter, lower unsprung weight, less inertia. Cons. More costly, Aluminium threads concern me or do they have helicoils? I've roughly calculated the Steel adapters will weigh 2.2Kg more than Ali. For a road car, will I notice any difference by going for steel adapters? Has anyone experienced a direct comparison between the two?
  13. I think its worth investigating, a small amount of lubricant which does not attack the rubber may be worth a go. I am convinced that it is something like this or possibly as dr_mat suggests, slight movement of the subframe.
  14. My drop links are original but they have brand new bushes. Just a thought, has anyone considered the knock when reversing out of driveways etc could be the anti role bar sticking in it's bushes between the subfame and body, and then losing grip and rotating within the bush slightly. I always feel the knock comes from that area. My ARB mounts are all poly, but I'm sure it could happen with oem ones too.
  15. They are lovely wheels, really like this style of wheel. Interested to see them on your Corrado. If I ever got another Mk1 Golf I would love some of these.
  16. Steve Gooding, One of my mates had a Manta Ray, we put a Tamiya DynaTech in it, which was not that powerful, but it used always pop the prop shaft out. The prop shaft was like a bit of coathanger with a loop at each end.
  17. My mate had one of those running a Reedy 12 double, that was so damn fast on the straights, it used pick the front wheels up accelerating out of slow bends. Me and my Dogfighter could still lap faster though! Another mate still has his Pro Cat, he's currently getting back to full working order. Cool, I'm really glad I didn't sell them, they bring back some real good memories.
  18. The Merc, but only just, mainly because it is a nice spec, whereas the BMW has the wrong wheels etc. But if the BMW was an M3 or had some nice wheels it would be a different story. Sorry...
  19. Very nice, pleased to see a good old valver being brought up to a high standard.
  20. Two mountian bikes and a weeks worth of luggage including PS2 and games for me and a mate! All fits in easy. Corrados are supprisingly practical cars.
  21. Looks very nice, wheels remind me of RH ZW1s.
  22. Not my cup of tea! At least he'll post it for £200, I'd love to see the look on the post office workers faces as you try and send that by parcel post...
  23. Me too, I still have a Rough Rider, Falcon, Vanquish, Optima Mid and Yokomo dogfighter Works 91!
  24. I had the red Mk1 Polo (top right) as my 1st car, this got me into VWs when everyone else wanted Escort RS Turbos. I really wanted a Mk1 Golf GTI. I wrote the Polo off  and got a Silver Polo (bottom right) but still wanted a Mk1 Golf. My mate wrote off my silver Polo and I got my Mk1 Golf GTI (bottom left). It was whilst owning this I decided I wanted a Corrado. My criteria was, it had to be VW, fast, rare, handle well and more comfortable than the hard as nails Mk1. I could not afford a Corrado, the cheapest G reg 1.8 16v was £6k back then, so I ended up with a 1990 Mk2 Golf GTI (top left). After 5 years with the Mk2 I loved it, but whilst polishing it up for inters 4 years ago I thought, "Its still not a Corrado". Within 2 weeks I bought my Corrado which I still own today. The red Seat Leon lasted for one year, but I sold it because I could not get anything for my C.
  25. Speak to Flusted on here, he's done this on his.
