  1. For the sake of the parts (about £50) then yes I feel it is worth considering. Need to space my wheels out and would rather go down this route then spending £150 on a set of HR spacers.
  2. Cheers mate. Was reading that thread last night. Might just dig out Etka and see what it has to say for itself. Once again many thanks.
  3. I have the Passat steering rack and wishbones but struggling to get hold of the driveshafts. Is it possible to use Mk3 Golf driveshafts, or is it only Passat. I'm assuming that any Passat driveshafts from the era will fit, and if there are any problems with the CV joints, I can always change them off my Corrado driveshafts.
  4. Bit of a story here but bear with me please Whilst changing my Clutch Master Cylinder the other day, one of the nuts that hold the cylinder to the bulkhead from the inside fell into the steering U/J gaitor. Having owned a number of Golfs, I didn't think much of it, as these tend to split over time, so expected a hole and hence the nut to drop out. Lo and behold, the nut got wedged in there this afternoon, resulting in me not being able to turn right, not much of a problem as not far from home. Got home, and whilst reverse parking, ended up being very forceful in order to apply right lock, and was greeted with the smell of hot PAS fluid and the sight of it all over my street. Seems I have busted the seals in the rack on the drivers side and also mangled the casting around the U/J connector. Now I am looking into racks from scrappies and am thinking of going for a wider track by using Passat parts (wishbones, drive shafts). Is there anything else I need to rob off the donor car to make wide track? Thanks for reading.
  5. Nah mate!! You look like a d***head, I look cool as f**k.
  6. Shout out to billinjah, wheels as advertised, good communication enabling me to pick up the wheels before the weekend,a dn also some nice twisties on the way to his gaff.
  7. Weitec kit from C+R is £247 or thereabouts and my mate has them on his G60 and rates them highly for a budget kit.
  8. Dubmeister! Might want to have alook at this first Oops, Happy Customers!? Personally I went with germanplates.com and am very happy with them.
  9. Spoke to the bloke on the stand on Sunday at Inters (unsure of his name) and he says he is up for this if there is enough firm interest from us here. This is something I am definately up for so put me down for it.
  10. My mate has Weitec on his G60 and really rates them.
  11. Speak to a Bosch specialist as they should be able to get hold of the dizzy seal that sits on the shaft and eventually lets oil through. Size is about 12mm.
  12. I believe later cars were fitted with side impact bars, but other than that they are the same.
  13. Such a sad end to a sweet C. Glad you are ok. Buy it back and sell it whole for someone to reshell is the easiest solution. Buying it back and breaking it in bits will get you more money but it is a pain and you end up with leftover parts that you can't sell but don't want to throw away and just clutter up your garage with. With the insurance payout you could buy a cheap 1.8 16v (about £800-£1200) then chuck your engine into it, sell it on for a tidy sum and buy a mint Corrado and go to town on that. Bit confused about the Cat C crushing issue. Either it is Cat B and is not to be returned to the road, or it is a Cat C uneconomical to repair, but can be returned to the road. Was unaware that they can blur the lines between the two.
  14. So you did'nt see him steal it, did'nt see the stolen item in or on his car (as the car had already gone by then) yet you assume that as he parked in a disabled bay he stole your aerial. Are you sure you don't work in the American Intelligance Community as that is one hell of a leap with no evidence to suport it. As someone pointed out above Vauxhall's have the same fitment aerial as I'm sure others do, so perhaps another unscrupulous motorists stole it.
  15. also look for early Mk3 GTI and possibly VR6 as these originally came as 280's.
  16. Or try BMW BBS RZ which are like the G60 rims but 7x15 and came on E30's. ET 25 so it pushes the wheels out but shouldn't cause any rubbing issues. Only problem being if you buy them off a BMW owner then they tyres will be completely the wrong size.
  17. By law UK registered cars from 1986 must have side repeaters fitted. Check out http://www.vosa.gov.uk for further details
  18. Cheers G60knight for a speedy resolution to my clambering through the passenger door situation. Good lad Ash, cheers mate, Dave
  19. Not sure if you can really appreciate the level of work that has gone into a car from a couple of pics on the internet. My mate was there on Saturday and rated that car. Yes the styling may be old hat (BBS splits, Audi door handles, probably MJ interior etc.) and it doesn't push boundaries but that is how PVS style their cars.
  20. Holy smokes!!! Is it just me or is he placing a lot of faith in that scissor jack. Car looks nice though, shame I couldn't make it (even though Ali Pally is spitting distance from me) as I saw a few rude Belgian Dubs knocking around N. London.
  21. What are these two like. Does any one have either of these. I would be looking to run Focal 6.5 components up front and a Focal 11"sub in the boot. Would the R5.0.4 do my proposed setup justice or should I be looking at the R8.0.4 or possibly another amp. Any help will be gratefully appreciated, Cheers, David
  22. I've just bought a 2l 16v and may be going Mk3 digifant route but most probably will go the Mega Squirt route. K-jet is adequate and simple to set up, but I may be going FI later so will need a system to cope with it.
  23. RH Toplines 7.5x17 on the old B Autos car. Pretty rare wheel though. Can't have been RHs as all the toplines (AA, AB and ZW2) are 8J minimum width. Oops!! Just checked and they were 8x17...like this but in a 4 stud
