The Iroc in motion: Iroc-video in US Tempest

Back from Germany and some major fun on the Autobahns. My German mate has done a truly stunning job, managed to pull the right rear quarter panle by no less than 5 cm!!! No welding needed :-) Everyone told him it was impossible, but he proved them all wrong. New rear axle and a new battery, too, and after a nice local little Rocco meet with some more German mates of mine, pizza al fresco along the beatiful river Rhein, I left again for some fun on by then almost deserted Autobahns :-) I left my C at my parents' place, waved goodbye today, after I spent almost 3 hours cleaning my C for next weekend, when I'll be back to then take my C to Hohenroda: A meet with only Karmann type 53s (Roccos and Rados) attending, so far 235 Roccos and Rados, in excess of 400 people to drink with :-) Tempest

Not when you drive such a beaut in the UK. Besides, you're just all jealous  Tempest
-
Yes, I just needed to make sure, you're all aware of the fact I do not just drive a run-of-the mill UK spec ordinary C like there are hundreds of about  It's been over 2 months now since last driven it. Tempest

... I finally, finally get to drive my own US-G60 again tomorrow, when over in Germany :D Flying out late this afternoon, staying with my parents in D, takling the train  down to where my C has been repaired to then blast back to my parents across all sorts of lovely German Autobahns, almost all of which are speed-restricted :-( Ah well, the last stretch should be unrestricted. Tempest

Indeed, esprecially as your piccie is of a US-spec Rado  Woohoo, less than a week to go now ... *where'sthedancesmilie* Tempest

Nope, it's what the Iroc should have looked like :-P Tempest

Much I hate to say this, but I too feel for the residents. Office workers should not park in residential areas, whether they're inhabited by slackers or rich people. IMHO, it's the employer's responsibility to sort out car parking, if not then it's the Pay&Display, I'm afraid, as is the case with Coventry Uni for example, also located right in the city centre with no dedicated car parking, other than for the top bosses, of course. There is no right for free parking for office workers. Tempest

Nearly thought I was looking at an Opel Astra  Tempest

Yup, that seems to be all that's changed IMHO. The badges with pretty much all car manufacturers just get bigger so that the stupid public can actually distinguish the make of all these similar looking modern rubbish bins that the automotive industry keep on chucking out at us. Tempest

That's nothing compared to what my alpinewhite C looked like after it had met a rather solid wall at the N

That's what I'd do. Tempest

"So what?" is what I say to that new law. 1. Laws are there to be broken, if they're this silly. 2. How are they going to arrest and jail 10 or 20 people turning up to (Midlands) meets etc., who have done nothing wrong, not murdered anyone, not stolen anything? Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? Exactly! Which is why I don't see this happening. If on the other hand it's aimed at Novas/Corsas and some of the worse No-Rice meets (they've not exactly excelled by sound reason and good behaviour as of recent), then fine. What I'm saying is, folks, don't be put off by laws like this. I'll no doubt get all sorts of flames now along the lines of "I don't want to go to prison, so I won't take the risk of going to local meets any more!" Coward! Go selll your C instead, lock yourself away from any public place (they're dangerous, you know ) ;-) Read what I said above, if you behave well at meets, there's no reason why the police should arrest. Same went for Inters, where it's the few idiots that can spoil it for the masses. Tempest

Pics of the Weserbergland Exlusive Meeting - German VW Car S
Tempest replied to Torsten's topic in General Car Chat
Nice :-) Will some of them be in Hohenroda in August? Tempest -
Strictly speaking all VW engines date back to the end of 60s, when VW acquired Audi and hence Audi's watercooled 827EA engine. All further VW engines were and still are based on the original 827EA block from back then, even the VR6. VW have never designed an engine from the ground up without at least taking major aspects from / mdoifying that original 827EA. Nope, but you get the awesome G60 sound track :-) Tempest

Worst I did to mine was carry a Mk2 Rocco used fuel tank in the boot. There was still some fuel in said tank, causing some lovely (not) fuel smells for days after in my C. These days I just use the works van for tasks like that :D Tempest

Depends on how recent you've joined. Vicki, the membership secretary, is currentyl snowed under with renewals, so I'm told. It could therefore take a wee bit of time before she gets round to your membership. Tempest

Ah yes, very nice Rocco indeed, and some purists will prefer the lack of the Zender bodykit, big rear spoiler, both of which made their debut on the Storm models, only to then appear on all Mk2 Roccos. Tempest
-
Since this has been the law in Germany for I don't know how long, my Mk1 only had the rear quarter and rear window tinted, and no, it does not look like a van. That still depends on the complete car around the tinted windows . Tempest
-
Nope, but yes, did see your car in there :-) whilst browsing through a copy at my local Smiths this morning. Well done :-) Tempest

That just goes to show how rediculous these e-petitions are getting. What started as in principle being a good idea to make the government aware of the true issues that bug us mere humble citizens has now just become a joke. With petitions like that, who's still going to take them serious, let alone which overpayed, underworked, selfish politician? Shame really, as towards the beginning of these e-petitions, there were actually a few good ideas worth signing for. Tempest

Have a read through this thread: http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53163&highlight= Tempest

The only Rocco scale model as a self-build kit IIRC is the IMAI one. It's 1/24 scale, but aimed at the beginner modelling car builder, and it's actually more of a toy. Still, it can be modded, too, see here: That's on the bonnet of its bigger brother :-) Tempest

VAG synthetic gearbox oil and late selector tower on early C
Tempest replied to davidwort's topic in Drivetrain
G50 is definitely a synthetic oil, as also stated on numerous US sites/forums etc., where its viscosity is nicely compared to the viscosity of oils such as Redline et al. Nice tip on the shift tower, though :-) Tempest -
Exactly! But this is where we get loads of posts saying to remove the CAT, of course. Not when you're toying with wanting to move back to Germany, possibly ;-) Tempest
