Thanks steve :grin: We realised that the underseal actually squares off really neatly at opposite corners of the mount, so along with my initial markings of the old mount it wasn't very had to align the new one up. Lufbramatt 0 Posted April 8, 2009 nah the passat beam looks like a golf beam on steriods, the bushes are bigger diamter and theres 2 each side (pressed in from opposite side of the axle) not sure where the "corrado uses a passat rear beam" myth came from, cos it doesnt . . although ive just checked the rear track figures for the passat and corrado and theyre the same, but neuspeed etc list different part numbers for the rear anti roll bars for each car. maybe the only difference is the brackets due to the fatter axle? boost monkey 0 Posted April 13, 2009 Got the rear suspension on plus all the brake lines tightened this avo with the help of Mr. and Mrs. Prodigal :grin: :salute: Ahhh, at last... New teacake hats for the top mounts, and a rear bench made from carbon fibre :lol: The sunny side. Used the jack to raise the beam up whilst aligning top mounts on the dampers. Got a few mud avalanches off the petrol tank, but it wasn't so bad with my safety glasses on :dorky: Now I have the advantage 8) :cuckoo: This afternoon I will be mainly rooting out the new: stone shields, stub axles, bolts for stub axles, wheel bearings, disc brakes, calipers, carriers, guide pins and bumf. hopefully put those on tomorrow all being well. Yeah, I was thinking about that when 3CM posted up his wiggly hard lines :scratch: I'm trying to work out whether the suspension will bottom out before the beam hits the chassis at the mo. boost monkey 0 Posted April 13, 2009 Thanks fla, replacing parts is the price I paid for wanting a cheap C with goodish bodywork. I still have to sort the PAS at the front end, buy some samcos (and do the cross-members whilst the radiator is out) and the G60 braks. Plus try and work out if the low comp issue is a blown HG from killed water pump or the rings. The car cost £700 and so far it's had: 4 x Tyres Real Wheel Bearings Tie Rod Ends 1 Ball Joint Expansion Tank Distributor Injectors Vacuum Valve Hoses (most of the coolant hoses) Fuel Metering Head (2nd Hand) Headlight (2nd Hand) Service Parts (Oil Filter, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Oil Change, New Spark Plugs, New Cap, New HT Leads) And I reckon my total is about £1,500 or just under. I think when I did the Jetta's bearings, I used some thick grey stuff - could be lithium grease? Anyone got any pointers? :confused4: Thanks, Jon.
