  1. Thanks Chris. I am gald i kept them but in all honesty they don't really give much bass output when the car is on the move - I reckon upgraded stock speakers and subtle small subwoofer somewhere (perhaps one of those underseat ones hidden somewhere) would give a better audio experience. I'm going to add a sub at some point. I decided not to stay stock in the end. Longer term plan will be some H&R roll bars, will try powerflex rear beam bushes (only becuase Vince recommended and they're easy to change if i don't like). The car currently has a miltek resonated and a miltek sports cat + the 263s. I felt the power delivery was a bit "flat" when I got it, flat as in missing some sparkle rather than broken, compared to my white one which also had 263s. With 263s you do get used to the additional power quite quickly but it gives more urgency from c2500rpm and feels more muscular. I'll grab a pic of the power graph but it gives out more torque at the 2500-4000rpm window than a Schrick/VSR on stock cams and puts out more power and torque over 4000 than a schrick/VSR on stock cams (schrick/VSR torque tails off back to stock levels after the midrange and doesn't give any extra power). £pound of £pound the cams are great mod - they cost £560 and fitting is free with the head work I had done. Of course 268 cams + Schrick would be even better but that's £2.5k ++ more and I don't think you'd get % increase gain 263s offer on a standard engine. As from the rear beam and suspension work I am going to leave it there for a while as had to to buy 2 new daily cars over the last 3 months - my trusty Seat Exeo broke it's steering rack and after 3 months of being unable to source (obsolete at VAG germany) I sold it spares repairs. Bought my wife a 2020 Audi Q2 (1.0 TFSI - great little engine) as we needed something for holidays and assumed at the time my Seat would be repaired when I got back. I've just bought my self a 2019 B9 Audi A4 Avant Quattro 40 TDI. Cars are very expensive for what you get comprared to when I last bought a newish car (2014 - the Seat).
  2. Prior to taking it to Stealth I installed new discs and pads, bearings, hubs and refurbed the front cast knuckles with new backing plates. I failed to take any photos though. As well as the Koni fitting over the winter I also hope to take the rear beam off and rebuild it.
  3. Seeing as people are coming back to view the forum I thought I'd add progress. Car has been to stealth for some works - chains, headrefurb, clutch, 263s, some bushes and abs repairs. She made 223hp on the rollers which i was pretty chuffed about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40sexRMjzbo The koni and H&R suspension turned up last week (waiting since June) so plan to fit over the winter. Couple of pics from today on where I am at and the wheels I plan to put on it.

  7. Cheers, I've swapped out the ignition coil but yet to find anytime to use the car. Also have a new bosch crank sensor to fit that i've had on the shelf for a long time, may as well fit it. I did the one way valve on my last car with no success but it was either the pump or the injectors that solved it last time. Could be different with this car of course, my white one really struggled and spluttered to life where as this just cranks for longer than you'd expect and then fires up normally at the point you'd naturally give up (fine when cold, and fine on immediate restart when warm - happens when left for a few minutes or so i.e. getting fuel).

  9. Cheers Dox. I hadn't noted the RPMs will check that out. RE Coolant - i have a new blue sensor in there as there was a fault (reading wierd temp) on vcds but this was ealier this year. The aux coolant pump does run on ignition. Coil - hadn't thought, i have spares and 1 new unit. Will try to rule it out, although the car is running smoothly otherwise.
  10. Resurrect my old thread. This issue was resolved when that car went to Stealth for chains and a topend rebuild. It also had refreshed injectors and a new fuel pump. Ironically my current Corrado, just back from stealth with a top end rebuild now has the warm start issue, but not as bad as my old one, say 6-8 turns of the starter. My gut feel is leaky injectors dripping a small amount of fuel into the cylinder and there being more fuel than the car expects. On my last one I changed everything prior to injectors/pump. My pump on this one appears strong on the rolling road.

  12. Just got home from picking it up - all went well and have confidence in the car again now. It has largely sat doing not a lot for 2 years and prior to that the guy that owned it from 2005 to 2021 cosseted it in his garage and put few miles on it. I've had the chains, new clutch (old one was very stiff), 263 cams, head rebuild and some abs repairs, wishbones, remap, fuel line. It made 223hp the rollers, top 3 with this set up he reckons. Usually they make 215 with 263s. Mine has a miltek sports cat and standard airbox so perhaps they help. Next job is suspension. I have been waiting since June for koni/h&r and I'm going to refurbish the rear axle and ancillary parts and fit a new freshly refurbed subframe. 2024 jobs now though.   13. Ironically it was Stealth that suggested (if it was "his" car) he'd go poly rear beam, r32 in the wishbone and upgraded front and rear antiroll bars. I've also spoken to a few other around my way who went poly with that set up and they are happy. I was anti poly before, passive rear steer etc etc but you're altering the setup if upgrading the shocks and springs so i can see the logic to it now. That was my reasoning to give it go this time.
  14. There are different grades - purple is road and other colours are for track. Mine didn't get done in the end. I thought they might need doing so chatted to Vince about its when I dropped off but they are not super urgent and can wait until I refurbish the beam.   15. Hi, As fendervg says really - you buy in condition and to get a decent Corrado with all the bits done you are looking at £12-20k for the best examples. There are cars at the £4-7k bracket that may look nice in pictures but paint and body might be needed (expensive) and a mechanical refresh is also pretty expensive vs the value of the car. You're almost always better off paying more and getting the best you can over going cheap and renovating yourself. I wouldn't worry too much about overpaying for that reason. Re the car you are looking at the list of jobs done sounds good. Where was the work done? I'd be less attracted if the mechanicals were done on someone's driveway vs a reputable garage however if you're confident in the seller it mitigates this. At 130k I'd also want to see the head being refurbished at the same time. I've had 2 VR6s, one with 155k and my current with 91k. Both have needed a head refurbishment due to oil leaks around the headgasket. It isn't a great deal more to have te head refurbished when doing chains and clutch (c£550 extra including new followers, gaskets seals) and gives peace of minds that a) the head gasket and cooling system is refreshed and b) someone's had a look at the bores for ovulation and considered whether anything more is needed.
  16. I'm actually trying powerflex in my car this time around after chatting to a few people. Last car I had new rubber ones put in and did feel an improvement. This time my car is at stealth and the bushes are tired needing replacement but I want to refurbish the beam in the future so thought I'd give powerflex a go and can always swap back to rubber when the beam is changed for a fresh one.   17. I saw a good tip on mk2 golf bush replacement - buy a cheap extra bush, drill out inards and its shape is an exact opposite of the bush you are pushing in so acts as a good template to apply pressure to push new bush in. Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk

  19. The plan is timing chains, clutch, head refurb, 263 cams and a few little minor jobs plus anything else that is desparate. I have done all new brakes and bearings already. Suspension didn't arrive I time so that will be a part 2 exercise. Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk

    I have been selling stuff too - all my mk2 and mk3 bits. Audioscapes were the main bulky item, I did add my own tax on those but they were brand new/never fitted. It was pretty addictive, especially taking advantage on the 80% off selling fees on ebay. Some things were collected which is even better. I just have mk2 specific bolts to sell on now but am having a break from it for now. I have been using Parcel Force and the PO but will take a look at other options mentioned aboce in future. Still have corrado bits but feels good to clear out unwanted stuff.
  21. I bought 3 pairs last time I ordered from Classics 😄 It's just one of those parts that is needed for a rear axle rebuild and will be obsolete soon. Thankfully they are still reasonable on cost. Good luck with the rebuild, I'm dropping my Corrado off at Stealth tomorrow so may as well start on the spare axle I have at home in the meantime.

  23. Meyle are good? Better than Topran anyway. As for OEM don't think they are available anymore. The washer / cover can be had from classic parts for 5.39 euro. Part No 357 501 639 https://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.com/catalog/en_uk/part/357501639 I tried topran on a mk3 but the ABS hole was in the wrong place. Slung them on the mk2 and put meyle on the mk3. Both cars out of my life so no idea on longevity!

  25. Yep took 3 weeks for me to get front hubs recently from AVS (price was good vs autodoc). I've also been waiting 9 weeks for a koni/h&r order and it's put me behind requiring 2 alignments now as car needs to be driven to stealth this weekend. Could be summer shut downs in Germany. My daily shat its steering rack and the part has been on order for 4 weeks now. Car has been off road for 8 weeks as took a month for a booking to open up. Had to buy another car - Audi Q2 for my wife just so we had something decent to go on holiday in. She's happy but these delays are coating me a lot of money! Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk
