Yep so true I actually do emergency call outs supplying access/scaffolding to engineers in factories to access these 200 ton press machines, the factories are normally independents that supply to the automotive ie Jaguar, they have loads of templates scattered through the factory. They look like large metal blocks and the forklift lift them on to the press, then the metal sheet and its just like a huge stamping device. One thing Ill say about Merc is they have a really good classic car part policy , VW need to follow as even a larger market. They should be £250 max to purchase new. .

Here we go lads Bosch FR7KPP33+ Spark plugs ,came on a Audi TT MK1 225BHP , Vince said do not go for the equivalent NGK Varient of these plugs only half as good as the Bosch FR7KPP33+. That is what I have been told anyway, the car has not been fitted with them yet. maybe another member has these sparks all ready fitted ???

The template for the wings will be sitting in a factory somewhere as they never throw them away, it;s a shame one of the VW specialist cant locate the original manufacurer because it is just a matter of the template been forklifted into the press machine and off you go a thousand panels in a couple of days. Hey ho !

Think Ill purchase the Bosch leads . Spoke to Vince at Stealth earlier as booking in my motor and mentioned sparks and leads. He said leads they really heve not found the dream aftermarket set yet but using electro something at the moment, he did say dont bother with any GSF or something like that. For sparks he said they are using some Audi ones that are far out performing any plug for performance and relibility as you may all know he has a front wheel rolling road at his garage, Ill ask him for the spark plugs part number when I get the chance.

Here is the last link. Spark plugs https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NGK-LASER-PLATINUM-SPARK-PLUG-BKR5EKUP-2890-FREE-P-P/202383062122?epid=248989664&hash=item2f1ef8746a:g:db0AAOSwDV1XRHj2:rk:1:pf:0 The NGK LASER PLATINUM SPARK PLUG BKR5EKUP 2890 at £3.99 seem alot cheaper then any other seller wonder if they are real ! I reckon the NGK leads might be even better quality then the Bosch ones , not really sure though. Mine are a pain in the ass to replace because you have to remove the Shrick manifold so want to get good quality.

Been three years since my sparks have been changed and prob well over 20,000 miles after studying the paper work of my VR6, also taking the Shrick Inlet manifold off as have some new gaskests so be rude not to. So my question is what would members recommend. I was thinking. Leads https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORRADO-VR6-Ignition-leads-set-Bosch-Corrado-Mk3-Golf-905QHT020/362151420507?epid=1378677840&hash=item5451e8225b:g:GtIAAOSwiuxap-hF or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NGK-IGNITION-LEAD-SET-RC-VW223-0954/283039831162?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144 sparks https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NGK-Spark-Plug-BKR5EKUP-6-Pack-Laser-Platinum-Sparkplug-NGK-2890/1815 Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

I’ve only met him once and don’t even know his name to be honest , how would one go about getting banned on a forum as such as this one ?

I know there is a lad in Bukingham who has a rotting VR6 Storm on his drive as the bottom end grenaded, think he brakes them up. I was there a few months back and purchased some BBS alloys off him, however he said he had three or four sets of speedlines for sale but I all ready have a set, dont think he would want much for a set , cant think of his contact details and have lost them now, maybe another member will know who Im on about.

In Europe the AAA is the 2.8 VR6 engine fitted to the golf. Jetta, Passat, I believe this is the same engine they fitted in the Corrado SLC in the USA I think, in Europe the Corrado VR6 came with a ABV 2.9 engine block. If you can confirm your engine is AAA 2.8 then you should get a block in the USA easily. This is from Wiki The second was the twelve valve VR6 engine, which came in two variants: a 2.8 litre 179 bhp (133 kW; 181 PS) model for the United States and Canadian markets, and a 2,861 cc (2.9 L; 174.6 cu in) producing 190 PS (187 bhp; 140 kW) at 5,800 rpm and 245 N⋅m (181 lbf⋅ft) at 4,200 rpm of torque version for the European market, fuel feed by Bosch Motronic 2.7 fuel injection.[6] In the United States, the model VR6 was marketed as the Corrado SLC (sport luxury coupe).

If your going down that route then Im sure some of the lads on here can help you. Dox didnt see the AAA well spotted.

Idle - isv, maf, tps, tb cleaned, readings .. what next!
Keyo replied to _Matt_'s topic in Engine Bay
A leaky exhaust and bad lambada = rough running engine bad mixture.I could see the heat gasses escaping from the cat on mine to today quite prolific so I reckon that could give the sensor a crooked reading could be wrong though. Found these guys really sound and the cheapest for Milltek Catback. https://www.milltekexhaust-roadrunnermotorsport.co.uk/ Just to add might aswell do the down pipe if doing the rest of the exhaust system, can get one for £65 with gasket and bolts from BM catalsyt (British Manufacture) it would be rude not to. I had a good look at the EEC Cat earlier and it seems well made also the Bosch sensor screws into the housing spot on. -

Have you tried a good old bit of injector cleaner like redex or something like that and give it a good run between 4.5 and 5 revs for a few minutes , you never know . Also can you get someone to rev the engine have a look under the car at the exhaust where it meeets the catalytic and see if there is any smoke leaks around that area. Just saying that because had those symptons what you have mentioned and today I noticed a smoke leak where the exhaust meets the cat area, and after the last couple of months checking VAG fault codes every other day it finally threw up code 00537 Oxygen sensor regulation sporadic and 00561 mixture which I expected as the cat and O2 sensor have never been changed. The O2 sensor apparently dont show a fault unless they are totally bad. Thankfully I have these ready to fit . EEC Catalatic (British made)with fixing kit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fits-VW-Corrado-53I-2-9-VR6-Genuine-EEC-Catalytic-Converter-Fitting-Kit/302431565696?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Bosch O2 sensor for late model VR6 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOSCH-Lambda-Sensor-650mm-0-258-003-604/292799998577?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Solennoid charcoal vavle just incase is stcking open (second hand new ones are £120 plus wow !!!) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOSCH-0280142155-AUDI-VW-SEAT-034133517-VACUUM-VALVE-SOLENOID-VALVE-TESTED/323645249228?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 -
If it was up to me I would keep the original engine and rebiuld it better the devil you know then dont, if your near Banbury go and have a chat with Vince form Stealth Racing he is an expert and can advise you on Corrado engine build. It really is your choice. Suprisngly there is a 2.9 engine block for sale on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vw-VR6-Engine-2-9-AAA/202586091768?hash=item2f2b1270f8:g:fbYAAOSwjmRcVhEL:rk:3:pf:0

Ok fairplay I was thinking the classic blue VW circle, OR VW circle in silver/Grey, Or even a Wolfsburg Edition circle.

No holes at the back , on this battery bag the cables just slip in the case at the top rear corners, you can see the one corner on the attached picture, the velcro is on the inside so you can easily close the lid and get the cables in . You can only just see the one cable on one corner other is completley hidden . If you wanted to though you could maybe put some good tape on the back and slit a hole but I really think once you have tried it on you wont bother doing that as it looks tidy as it comes. No worries lads says 6 left on ebay. Battery bags also contain somewhat battery leaks or spray so they really are an overlooked part of the engine bay, so do serve a valid purpose in my opinion for little money. .
-
When I purchased my Rado it had the remains of the old VW battery bag and it didnt look like it was ever good to be honest and literally disolved in my hand, this one is thicker and also that well made is described as washable in machine with high quailty insulation.
-
Yeah I think its a small business in Germany that hand makss them , really good thermal material and snug fit. Im sure if someone emailed them they might even make a batch with a VW logo or VR6 Emblem. Also arrived in a about a week so a good reliable ebayer . You dont have to tare the bag at the front either as there is just enough play in the bag for the clamp to grip the battery. Half of the cost is postage so Im sure if someone got a batch over would work out even cheapr.

No worries Marde.

The part number is the Corrado stock part number but as its aftermarket (SSP) they added an R on the end probably means replica . The more expsensive option is the VW original part so they are giving you a choice, Ive got some of the aftermarket ones at home they look good and feel heavy Im impressed to be honest, my old ones are not that bad either so going to give them a powder coat once the new ones are on and put them in the ye olde hoard pile . I also purchase some new bolts and washers . N90369801 hex bolts 4 per plate 321501119A washers 4 per plate Aftermarket on special offer set £18 Original £73

Yes mate good timing they are half price at the moment. Thats if your car has the standard rear brake discs from factory of course 226mm x 10 mm . You need part number left 191615611DR and right 191615612DR
