Worth it alone for that!! It just doesn't stall, ever. Many OBD1s do when the MAF starts to go, or the ISV starts to get sticky, or the O2 sensor gets a bit lazy. All manner of reasons. One of the best things I did to mine too. So many more parameters can be monitored on VAG-COM too, and more mapping options too. Hence why Turbo/Supercharged VR6s are always better with OBD2.

I'm of the same opinion too, but then I've always been a driving enthusiast, rather than appreciating value enthusiast. Nothing against the OP's Mum's car fetching a high price. It's the state of the market these days. Anything old, moderately interesting a couple of decades ago and that gold plated "1 owner" or "10K miles" is fetching ridiculous money these days. £25K RS Turbos, £15K MK2s, £30K MK1s, you name it. All reaching crazy sums. Some folk say it's the owners who bring the values down. Well, not really imo. We're realists, we know the car's issues and 90% of us own them for what it is, not what it's worth. And a lot of the negativity is said tongue in cheek. All the broken sunroof gags, the crap headlight gags etc etc. It's just bants. I think anyone whose primary reason for ownership is future resale value is not a true Corrado enthusiast imo, they are like I said, an appreciating value enthusiast and should perhaps consider becoming a dealer. Corrados being worth a fortune is surely not good for theft potential either tbh?

I've been lucky as never had any probs with RM or PF. Posted LOADS of car parts over the years. Didn't know car parts aren't covered though. They fail to mention that at the Post Office when you buy the service. I wonder what else isn't covered? Valuable watches, TV screens, concrete blocks? I think we'd be better off delivering stuff ourselves sometimes.

And as usual, the press sensationalise everything out of proportion! I think the amateur dramatics surrounding the pound dropping in value wound me up the most. Indeed! It may well have only 26K on the clock, but if the engine has received the same care and attention as the rest of the car, no thanks. That is what the vast majority of car buyers don't get. They think mileage is the only indicator of condition. Wrong. I would much rather have a 1 year old car with 26K on the clock than a 20 year old car with the same mileage. People also don't get short journeys and contaminated oil buggers engines up more than thrashing them and lots of miles.

Busy with work and life :) It's not horrendous on a Hollyoaks level, but you're well aware (and quite sad tbh) that a certain something is missing from the show. It's early days, but they should have redesigned the show to better suit the presenters. They had too big a set of boots to fill by keeping the format exactly the same.

Love a bit of May. I downloaded his cars of the people series and a few other things he's done. Oh and just remembered the unfunny quip from Evans about not mentioning food on the show...... presumably a dig at Clarkson for punching someone because there wasn't any food at a venue. Droll.

They were meaningless and dull years ago! Haven't been in a P85D, but was annihilated by one off the lights a few weeks back :D Very impressive machines! Nice looking cars to boot. A local chap has one and we often bump into each other on the daily commute. As impressive as it is off the line, it's less so round corners. A lot of bulk to carry around though, so not surprising. And going by some midrange pulls we had on the dual carriageway, they don't appear to have the same kind of thrust off the line whilst on the move. Probably some kind of battery saving mode?

I stuck a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4s onto the Golf a month or so ago and they are superb tyres! Anyone running 17s might want to give them a whirl. Should be available in 205/40 by now I would have thought.

You guys think Evans is shouty, wait until Harris joins the crew. He's a very good driver though, so the road tests should be interesting. In isolation, I only like Matt as a presenter / actor. As a team on Top Gear with Harris, Evans & Schmidt, nah. Not going to cry if a miss any episodes. Can't wait for the Amazon Prime TG. I don't care what people say about them or what Clarkson did to who and when, those 3 pulled in schitt loads of viewers. Hammond is slightly annoying at times but the 3 of them have a breadth of presenting / narrating talent and audience engagement the current bunch don't (and won't) even get close to, imo. Maybe it would be better if they changed the format as already said, to give the newbies a chance to forge their own path. I mean, they still had the old lap times from the previous 3 on the board, and still did the same old Stig intro, which was like a lead balloon compared to Clarkson doing it. It really does come across as literally kicking the 3 stooges out and replacing them with someone else, just because of some BBC politics. Pathetic. They put themselves before their audience. A couple of stuffy old gits' morals and principals vs millions of loyal viewers.

Yeah still happy with the old beast and can defo recommend one! The one I'm looking at is the APR decat + sports cat. Looks really good quality.

Still mincing about with the old Edition 30. For it's 100,000th birthday I treated it to a new chain and tensioner today as she was feeling and sounding a bit poorly. There's no getting away from bl00dy chains and VWs is there??! :lol: Engine is damn clean for it's age. I reckon it was looked after before I got hold of it. They're normally creosote brown inside like 24Vs by this mileage. A fair bit of chain droop at TDC and nobody like slack stuff do they? New chain and the droop is a lot less. Car is quieter at idle now which is a bonus. I caught it just in time I think. The chain has a habit of snapping if things get too worn in there. The Loba high pressure fuel pump is clobbering the cam follower HPFP. I suppose this might actually mean something to those with MK5 GTIs but this is yet another duff design by VW but easy and cheap to replace. I miss the basic engineering of the Corrado! Having said that, this job was a whole lot easier than doing chains on the V6s!! Going to be experimenting with a 3" downpipe and more mapping soon and hopefully get it close to 350hp :)

The R32 is a noticeable step up in refinement and build quality over the Corrado and it's a nice car overall. When I got mine I was expecting it to be a useless old dog, and a wet one at that, based on the criticism the MK4 has received over the years, but the R32 is not like the FWD ones. It looks and drives so much better. Fuel, don't even think about it, it isn't great, but then it's not going to be with a 3.2 engine and 1500kg to haul around. I sold it and bought a MK5 Edition 30. Why? 3 reasons really. 1) I got bored of it quicker than I expected. 2) It's too slow (for me). A standard VR6 Corrado will keep with it easily. 3) I just didn't get on with Haldex, and being the 1st generation, it's pretty lame tbh, even with a 'blue controller'. Be careful with aftermarket exhausts on the R32. Nearly all of them drone like a b1tch, even the standard system does, and it's irritatingly loud. I reduced it on mine quite a lot by cutting the bypass system off and welding it up. Don't decat it either as it drones even more and it reduces the torque. If you really want an R32, I would urge you to get a MK5 instead because the chassis is soooooooo much better. Not as nice to look at, but better to drive and better engine. DSG a must. If 4WD and engine noise aren't essential, a MK5 GTI is a fine choice. Edition 30 if you want better looks and more power.

Blimey! Never had that happen to me. The TT bushes aren't harsh at all so you'll be fine with those. I agree with you on the M3 / Z4. You need a lot of space to enjoy an old school n'asp M car because very little happens below 4000rpm.
