  1. The dremel mod soes make them ok but thats all - TT or Lupo wipers are the way to go
  2. Tits... I slowed down driving into the forest tonite - 40mph where I usually do 80!!!
  3. VW do sell it too - got some last month!
  4. Should come off ok - replace with stainless... If you do one at a time you won't need to hold the tank up, early straps are same as a mk3 as you probably know - late ones now obselete..
  5. It's ok - we've hidden this thread from Nicky....... not...
  6. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/03/26 ... atic_merc/
  7. Depends what wire it is - if the ECU thinks it's disconnected then it will revert to a fixed value or rely on another sensor... Best way to fix is to get a yellow repair wire from VW which comes pre-terminated then solder / heatshrink to rest of loom... the difficult bit is getting the old wire out the plug! Also check your engine mounts!
  8. herisites, exactly - also tyres, ball joints - so many variables... swfblade, The only way you'll tell is to swap them really!
  9. Oh really? - I assumed all should return but yes they were Oil - I swapped for the SACHS Gas ones tho from VWSpares as they were only £15 more for all 4... Still worked out at over £200 in parts tho as front topmounts were mullered and rear ones were noticably worn so they were all changed. The other annoying thing was that they didn't come with the plastic boot clip thing fitted to the fronts and altho you could get it off the old ones you could not fit over the new shocks because of the difference in design... all the VW shocks come with these fitted and they are also SACHS/Boge so seems to be another example of OE parts made to a slightly cheaper spec for the pattern market... It doesn't really feel any different over bumps etc and I think the Gas's are slightly harder riding but you certainly feel the difference around corners and it pitches like a mk4 now (nothing else was changed either) - shame the car is only worth about a grand!
  10. dr_mat, I've heard 50-60 but 20 is a bit overkill!! BTW - I changed the original (90k) ones on my mum's Golf, they were Boge shocks and none of them leaked and all passed the bounce test ok but when we took them off the springs and pushed them down none returned back up!
  11. Sounds like a real cowbow!
  12. Hmmm - yeah I was wondering the same - the Konigsports on the TDI have done 60k ish now - me reckons they are probably past their best!
  13. trudubrstu, if you pop into Ipswich Audi and speak to Neil, mention this forum and he'll do the G12+ cheaper than GSF etc...
  14. Look at the pics I put up of the relay location - behing pass back door card
  15. Hi, no it just slots in and there is a ball joint that connects to the arm... Unusual part to break - most it's the crank from the motor and the arm next to it that wear - I'd replace these too if not the whole lot...
  16. ravaling, have a look at the other thread for some pics and the relay location etc...
