Thats a valid reason for failure becuase it could rub against the strut... New flexi is £10 and takes 5 mins for a garage to change - just tell him to get them to do a fluid change and fit that - it's a 12+ year old car FFS!
-
...from a Super Mod too !! - mind you he does live on the Isle of 'Man' Welcome to the forum Lisa, bought my G60 when i was 22 as well...

Good skills Love the orange samco's - it's like a trademark now! but what is the orange dipstick handle about - looks like a lawnmower start  Is the red paint just oxide primer?

You also need the mk2 to banjo conversion hoses that C&R sell... It's a good upgrade as they are light and have a much better handbrake mech but I would stay away from second hand parts unless the condition is very good as they still go wrong as much as the old mk2 style calipers, just in different ways like seized bleed nipples and alloy corrosion. Also good idea to paint new ones - just look at the state of them on any 5-6 year old mk4...

just buy the corect gasket - it's less than a fiver from VW!
-
Oh yeah - deffo, it's the only one VW list for the G60 now (changed in '89)

Got the new issue this morning but only just had chance to have a read... It's been a while but it's a good issue - well done to Steve, Eric and anyone else involved!!! 8)

G60? - it's the black sensor on the flange coming out of the front of the head - best to do the blue one too really as thats the critical one for the running of the car... Top mounts - only get VW ones (same goes for the sensors)

Very early G60's didn't get the copper gasket but make sure it is the HG and not the OE heatexchanger exibiting the same symptoms Stealth chanrge about £350 for a G60 HG job, the reason alot of places may quote for 8+ hours is that if it's blown and has been driven there will be a lot of extra work involved in cleaning out the contamination, ie steam cleaning parts, coolant flushes and several oil changes...

Yeah - VAG use 10.9 for brake stuff and sometimes 12.9 for suspension altho I reckon 8.8 will be ok but you should change eveytime they get undone... Watch out for stainless stuff as it is lower tensile (look for the A7-70 and A4-80 markings - both lower than 8.8) and don't use bolts with no markings at all!!!!!

If it's cracked replace it - water will only get trapped inside... Plugs look ok but you may as well change em as they're out... -
swfblade, just look at the writing on it... I've got a Pilkington (New Zealand) in my TDI and it's got a big flat spot that the wipers miss...
-
VAg Parts do a pair of new G60 carriers for under a ton...
-
Nice one - thats basically how we did Jim's but we did have the correct die out of the (broken) VW tool...
-
What car is it? - you want to watch water getting near the ABS ECU... Are they using a VW screen (SEKURIT)? - If it's a Pilkington demand a proper one! TBH = I would go down there and get another fitter to do it - it's not a difficult job for someone with experince of bonded screens just more tricky than modern cars.
-
Yeah - I think the lupo's put a bit of extra strain on the old motors... Check the linkage first for any play (usually the crank on the motor and the next arm attached to it) and then replace the motor - I replaced the 200k one on the tdi and it made a big difference altho you only really see it at speed in heavy rain.
-
Yep - fit drums!!!
-
CorradoDriver, you don't get sarcasm in the states then??
