  1. DutchVR6, I think it's more of a safety thing in case the DBW goes wrong... i.e. on cruise control I can hit the brake pedal or clutch to cancel...
  2. It's like a dyslexic cut and shut...
  3. I've never understood why VW don't use magnetic sump plugs like (most?) other cars...?
  4. Sweet baby Jesus and the orphans....
  5. The homebrew is good, I drank 3 pints the other night and forgot to go to work for 2 days...
  6. The H/L switch is a nightmare... Diodes need to be the right way around with the longer leg being +ve
  7. They already do eRabbit... I had heard they were having problems and membership is really low considering they should be able to attract members of all Golf based cars out there inc Seats etc... makes the Corrado Club membership figures look great in comparison! I think most of it is to do with organisation, I was a member for years but since i moved house they managed to completly mess up my renewal and I had to chase it up so many times it was ridiculous, they didn't send me the form this year so I didn't renew. The other problem is the shows - too many of them, badly organised and too expensive for customers and traders (talking VW scene in general here) Lastly the regional scene down here is pants, there used to be regular meets but then we merged with another region and that was going really well and then just stopped for some reason... I'll just stick with the Corrado Club for now I think as stuff seems to be picking up...
  8. It will be good in the snow tho
  9. There is only the one I think too on PAS racks...
  10. The ones VW spares sell are the same as GSF sell, FEBI - they are cr4p! Don't buy the VR6 (Mk3) ones from the above either as the bearings fail - VW now sell mk4 bearings... You also will need the top plates and a nut (threaded bush) - if you expalin to the dealer what you want to do they will find the parts on ETKA by comparing the two...
  11. H8RRA, thats a lot of miles on an engine which suffers from quite alot of problems... tbh I'd try and find a lower mileage one unless it's really cheap!
  12. Just get it on VAGCOM first...
  13. lamwagon, change the black temp sender first, they under-read with age, do the blue one as well if it's not been changed recently... If you then find that it runs at 90 but gets to 110 in traffic then change the rad fan thermoswitch (yours is only working at stage 2)
  14. OT - yeah it is notchy tho but you get used to it... drove the new Passat today and it's the same, Ford have got it sorted tho on the Focus TCDi - smooth as butter...
  15. Oh it's good, very good but it is a TDI remember - I still go for 7th sometimes! Hurry up with the pic - I'm meant to be out drinking!!!
  16. Ah - you still using the corrado box and slave then??? mine is MK4 6spd and the slave is inside the box!
  17. LOL - erm yeah take the cover off.... mines got this huge great assembly behind it!
  18. Also - what oil are you using and is the filter a genuine one? If it's a Halfords or Fram oil filter change it as it may have failed!
  19. I mean installed as in did he use the full mk4 pedal box and switch's etc... Mine is a bodge of the orignals but everything welded in and working... only issue I have is the clutch is very heavy as the original Corrado MC and pedal are being used Phat - I have a spare MK4 clutch pedal from when we fixed Jim's car and i've welded it up so it won't break again but will this fit the Corrado / mk2 pedal box do you know? (Reason I want to do this is so I can use the plastic mk4 MC - have you done this?)
  20. Hmmm - I know with DBW the revs just drop as soon as you go on the brake or clutch pedal - I wonder if that switch is loose or faulty - also may depend on how it's been installed...
