Supercharged replied to welton's topic in Cars for Sale [Corrado]
Nice car but oil consumption! - Do you mean 2 Ltr's every 10k miles??? -
VW Motorsport VSR... how was it originally sold?
Supercharged replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Yeah was an option - Gary had all the paper work etc with his including the price in DM -
^ This is it, I don't think it's worth taking the risk going elsewhere as Stealth know these engines so well and exactly what parts to change / inspect etc
-
Yeah knew they were still available but remember TPS will only give around 10% off on general parts / non service related items where a VW dealer can do a lot more on stuff like this... should be able to get them for under £150 if they are selling on eBay for that.
-
Yep - that's the one... I think the issue is elsewhere though
-
Ah ok - then it's back to the original issue then, get the battery tested and new ignition switch - could well be the starter though if it's been over-running.

I've just bought 4 new Rainsports for £122 delivered - he could buy the same and maybe G60 steels (around £130 from VW) That's new wheels and tyres for £250!
-
Yeah if it's cranking then it's not a starter fault - could be ECU relay, Crank sensor etc but best to start with the ignition switch but can't believe it's the original one! Battery voltage is ok but that doesn't actually tell you if it has the ability to supply current needed to run the car but again, if it's cranking then it's most likely ok You can test the switch by just plugging the new one in without actually fitting it
-
The solenoid is the smaller of the 2 cylinders - try hitting it with a breaker bar to free it off... Battery - take it to Halfords to be tested
-
If the (factory) imob is playing up then it will start and cut out immediately... Do you think the battery is ok?? You need to check if you're getting 12V down the thickish red/black wire from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid while someone turns the key to crank. If you don't then it's most likely a bad switch, if you do then faulty starter / bad wiring around the starting circuit.
-
Mate - get onto ErWin and download the workshop manual for that engine code...
-
I think you've got enough evidence there to take them to the cleaners! shocking. I just don't get VW - so much poor press - why don't they just take the hit and fix problems like this and not suffer all the internet horror stories like this? Main problem is the franchises - as above they really just don't give a sh1t!

for sale Mystic Blue VR6 for £5,999 in Fermanagh
Supercharged replied to fitcy's topic in Cars for Sale [Corrado]
Looks superb - what's the mileage? -
You can buy this exact product from VW for about half the price - part number 00V 096 310A Been using it for years along with the genuine lock lube and washer fluid - never get any issues getting into the car!
-
http://www.vwspares.co.uk/g4brakes.php Pics on link above of the new ones - not a huge difference really but they are more reliable, have done a good 100k on mine now and still working well! They still suffer from corrosion etc but if you keep on top of maintenance, clean and re-grease and change fluid every 2 years then they should last.
-
Yep - never us an allen key - always a socket as they fit better!
