Indeed, works very well on lowered cars in particular I think where the wishbones are at more of an angle.

True and admittedly I'm the same and usually over-tighten slightly within the bolt / torque tollerence I just meant he shouldn't need to use a 2ft bar with a bit of scaffold attached to do them up :-)

They really don't need to be 'that' tight - 130Nm so about the same as you'd do a wheel nut. Over-tightening and lazy mechanics using windy guns is why people have issues further down the line with these.

VR6 90A 7 rib pulley alternator in the Glasgow area?

Use an airgun for the pulley! -
Yep - Pattern wishbones are often a different size to the originals (not joking) and the bushes don't fit particuarly well! ---------- Post added at 12:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:05 PM ---------- Just a thought - you've not had a replacement subframe fitted at some point which isn't a Corrado part?? Basically the Golf Subframes don't have the extra arm and bolt hole as they bolt to the chassis but also require the wishbone bush metal sleeve that Corrado's don't have as standard - that's why the R32 bush works well as this has the sleeve built in and allows less room for movement / failure.

Check the rod again, the plastic bush thing on mine needed replacing, nice simple fix. Could be an air leak if the actuator doesn't move at all. I also remember Jim buying the whole lock assembly because of another issue we found with it jamming but can't remember exactly what it was.

^ That feature is on all boxes but you can bypass it like I have with most of mine by driving the pin out of the 'lock' piece that goes down the middle of the back of the box and just take out that bit of metal from under the lid - have a look and you'll see what I mean...
-
Why not get them out if you're covered? it's the whole point of it... you'll get some free fault finding / diagnosis and if they can't pin point it then get it towed to JMR
-
Do you have any breakdown cover?? The AA in particular are excellent at troubleshooting these sorts of issues...

£150 is about the going rate for good ones - £40 is a baragin!!
-
Maybe a bit but you have to remember these people live in Chelsea, Knightsbridge and Belgravia - not some pikey housing estate!
-
That's not bad - used to be around £10 from VW... obsolete now I assume??

They're all black - he means Beige trim to replace the ELRA setup
-
Yep, best buying new for something like this - 20 year old item won't be worth fitting!

Jesus - lucky you weren't caught! -
Take a pic too if you like...

^ Yep, sounds like a faulty battery is also a possibility!
-
It could well be either now, most cars have been through a slave cyl already - worth looking at the history and also how old it looks... One cylinder failing tends to put more pressure on the other one

Wouldn't surprise me if Lidl started selling Corrado parts...
