The front seats will go straight in and sit nice and low as the floor pan is the same... The backrest will fit but its not as wide as the Golf so you will leave a gap between the seat and the doorcard and you'll need to come up with a way of fixing them in

Have a look at the bolt on the steering lock which surrounds the column, it may be loose but don't overtighten!

Did the slave get changed too?? - it should be really as its much cheaper than the master and a failing master will but more wear on the slave...
