Supercharged replied to 955matt's topic in Engine Bay
Just weighed the Jabbasport Stage 6 one I have sitting in my garage... It looks to be about 8Kg (just on bathroom scales) I would say a standard charger is deffo under 10kg's -

Every 40k's on a standard charger to be safe - If there looked after, the G60 is really reliable I get 30mpg on average -

Get it down there asap, the oil leak is not good at all and it must be costing a fortune in fuel... -
No, you just unplug it (see the plug on the right of pic) then uncrew, should take 5 mins.

If your going to change the gasket get a new sump pan as well dude!
-
Ok here it is - the nut is actually 22mm and the plactic bit you see it the centre of it locates into the spindle that comes out the gearbox (it spins it round to generate the signal) - just make sure you locate it centrally before you screw the new one down, simple!
-
You just unscrew the plastic bolt you can see which is the sensor itself and unplug the connection at the top (err, maybe unplug it before unscrewing it!) You may need a large adjustable spanner if its tight but I managed to do mine by hand.

stainless exhausts?? which one 4 a vr6??
Supercharged replied to matt_corradovr6's topic in Engine Bay
Well thats how to do it without dropping the axel but it will always be better kept in one piece, I don't think it's to hard to drop the rear axel, just 4 bolts I think but the ABS sensors need to be disconected! -
You can try it with a G clamp but you risk damaging the piston face... GSF sell the tools for £15 - I know what i'd do!
-
I also loved the way he stuck his nose under the bonnet and said it needed a headgasket! - I bet it did... God knows how muh the poor bloke spent getting that stuff sorted!

Errr... I think Kevhaywire might have something to say about that, he had 2 Milltek systems in the space of a week and another week later he had a VAG system back again... His certainly wern't quite, even after the fitment of an extra silencer... -
Thjats how i've done it 3 times now altho Henny's way is fairly full proof I think it's only really necessary on the VR6 with it's various waterways...

The set part number is now obselete and there is no stock left. The only way to but these now is going back to getting the arms and blades seperatly - RRP is nearly £90 but if you get a decent discount they will be about £70 for the 4 items. -
The credit card arseholes are back in... Just popped in at lunchtime while driving past as you do for a few bits... Within 3 minutes I heard a 'Good Morning' (it had just gone 12.00 but never mind) They don't actually come out with the word credit card for 10 minutes but I'd heard it all before and you know it's them as they're not wearing halfords uniform. - I politly told him I wasn't interested and didn't have time to speak to him, he still kept pestering me so I walked off, he then followed me still asking questions so I bassically told him to fcuk off and just walked out of the store! These guys are complete c%nts, they use hard selling techniques and are very pushy - like double glazing salesmen there job is bassically to rip people off - avoid at all costs!

slot, check the Polo forums!

Me too, as long as you fill it slowly and run it up to temp with the cap off... If you do this - You should see the fluid level frop slightly as the stat opens Not sure about the sensor readings, maybe you do have airlocks - I would change all the sensors anyway including the rad thermoswitch as thy are cheap and prone to failure! May be worth doing a drain and refill and keep a close eye on this - this will tell you if you have a duff stat.
-
Check the dizzy, maybe try another if you think everthing looks ok...
-
You'd smell it if it was gearbox oil - Nutty! Thats the rustiest sump i've ever seen - like to scrape the speedbumps do we? :D
-
Tyre size will give a compatible rolling radius but you will obviously need to check the wheels are the right stud fitment, offset and bore pitch...
-
There are 2 screws on the grill aren't there or am I imagining things??
-
You will also need the mechanism to go with this!
-
Ok, I'm gonna 'Sticky' this if only because I love the word 'Chuftie' - best new word i've heard this year!! It can be used like the Corrado spotting thread and updated with any feedback you get from 'the public'

Mystic blue is unique to Storms altho its common as muck on late mk3 Golfs! Anyways, locking this as all the info is in the other thread!

LOL - great stuff! Thats the trouble tho with wheels and muppets on eBay... I'm keeping an eye out at the moment but no one puts ALL the fitment details up on the adverts and i'm not prepared to shell out 500 notes for wheels that 'might' fit!
