I've got the same problem and if it happens all the time I know whats causing it altho I havn't fixed mine yet... Look into the filler neck and there should be an anti-syphen flap (a piece of metal) - mine is missing, and it looks like its causing a blockage down the filler neck. At the moment I just have to fill up slowly (takes about twice as long) but will look at it next year when changing the fuel pump when I reach 100k's

Probably - PAS pumps don't like being run dry... Yes, use the VAG stuff (green), not expensive, you'll need at least 2 litres. DO NOT use ATF fluid!

The replacement non stretch bolt on ETKA looks the same as the old one, ie its shouldered with no washer.

No, Its won't fit! - the G60's and the VR's have a different size airbox to the 16V's

Check the charging system - alternator, regulator and battery

Have a look on the parts club prices doc in the servicing section for part numbers... The VAG discs should be cheaper than the brembo's but I would get the the Pagid Fast Road pads (GSF) as they are alot more effective than the standard ones... For calipers get the mk4 ones for the rear as they are alloy and won't seize up (GSF also)

How does the laptop connect? - Were you on mains or battery power? I would try another laptop or PC first so you can determine if the problem is definetly the car.... -
