Nice - £70's not bad at all - mine cost £220!!! No probs - I'd forgotten about it but the temp fix lasted until you were booked in I hope!?!
-
They not available from VW anymore then I take it Wendy? So Vince fitted the eBay one and it's good?? Any major differences?
-
Key thing with early indicators is to make sure that rubber bung exists in the front as moisture seems to make it's way in othwerise - worth ordering some spares!
-
Oh... is this the R32?? How's it coming on mate?
-
Yeah but that other forum was Corsasport... ;-)
-
ABS maybe - behind the glovebox If so you maybe want to get your battery checked
-
Yeah, just read that too but already knew about as the Germans have been on about this for a while - E10 is evil stuff for older cars. Supermarket Derv with Bio content is also very bad for PD engines
-
Redline is the stuff but maybe use SMX or the VW stuff first as a flush
-
Yep, me too - bare with us, we're working on it!

Where does your temp gauge needle sit ?

Change your thermostat! -
I think you should be ok with new clips, just old / worn out ones can slip off as they don't clamp into the Samco's as much as the rubber hoses.
-
You do need Jubilee's or Mikalors for Samco's as they need to be stronger but the issue with Jubilee's is that they don't provide constant tension or expand with heat like the OE clips so limit the life of the rubber hoses. If you have the right tool the OE ones are great!

Worth a trip to Stealth mate as they can RR tune it, only an hour from you isn't it? -
Yep, at least you found the issue is not timing - as above it's probably head off time - no idea what has happened here though, have you done any head work at all like cam / tappets??? or bottom end work for that matter?? Only time I've seen this before is when a head has been skimmed below tolerance and valves are not closing to where they are seated - this situation gives a reading of 0 because air is just escaping, most other issues would at least give some compression and it's unlikely you have a whole in each piston!

VW mate or any breakers yard

Will be cheaper from VW - ECP seem to add there own profit onto genuine parts
-
I don't think you can though... 5 holes and one is off-set ---------- Post added at 04:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:30 PM ---------- Just read the original post... Cyl 1 is the belt side, if the flywheel is out or not marked it shouldn't matter if the pulleys are correct. You say it turns fast and will not fire - how fast? have you tested compression? tried moving the dizzy around while cranking to get it started? What's the history of the car / engine? did it run before you tried changing the belt? Checked simple things like firing order is correct?? 1-3-4-2

Failed MOT, advoce needed please!

No worries, yeah parts prices have gone through the roof... Quality - yeah, unfortunatly the difference of 2-3 years life and 10+ for the VAG items... I'd buy the non genuine droplinks though as they are so expensive but genuine for the other bits, you'll really need to do sides if changing to the R32 style bush. -

No worries - this site is useful to see parts pics / numbers http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_suspension.php This is the rear WB bush http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=801 -

Rear Wishbone bushes - go for the solid R32/LCR items from VW ARB bushes are a couple of quid but you may also want the drop-links, again buy from VAG -
Mine are just starting to crack after 80k miles, genuine fitted by Stealth - still feels fine though but I reckon 100k is a good interval. Kev - there are a pair of genuine VR ones on eBay for £21 each

57.1mm = standard VW size

Got to be a connection issue, there is a fuse for each main beam too, re-seat this and also swap the bulb too if you've not already - more likely to be wiring though as above, especially if a loom is fitted
