  1. The B pillar would have to be enormous to offset the sodding great big hole immediately aft of it - there is no way the 5 door MK2 Golf has a stiifer bodyshell than the 3 door, same applies for any 3 door vs 5 door car. Subaru initially used the 4 door Impreza because it was the stiffest bodyshell, no 2 door Impreza existed at the time and the 4 door was stiffer than the 5 door, the 2 door eventually replaced the 4 door when the 2 door model was homologated and it replaced the 4 door because, surprise, surprise it was stiffer than the 4 door
  2. How can a body shell of a 5 door car be stiffer than a 3 door version of the same bodyshell :D
  3. The Rover with the orange bumper insert was indeed the 200Vi BRM, the orange and green was obviously to mirror the old BRM colour scheme. They were actually a pretty quick car, the 1.8 had about 140 bhp and the chassis was pretty well sorted, one of the first production FWD cars (think only the Series 1 Escort RS Turbo being the first I think) to have a LSD fitted as standard The 200 series Rovers were regarded as being decent cars in their times, the K series engine was highly advanced for its time, they were not remotely as good as a Corrado but probably better than most other cars in their class
  4. Yes the 16 was designed that way, the rear supension was torsion bars I think and the way they were arranged resulted in different wheelbases either side, seem to remember the difference being something like 7cm (so not exactly a tiny difference). Renault seem to have a habit of doing strange things, the 21 had different wheelbases depending on whether it was a transverse engined or longnitudinally engined
  5. Good website http://www.mclarenautomotive.com/uk/def ... 11/explode
  6. They are the same Random fact - the Renault 16 had a longer wheelbase on one side than the other
  7. Was out in one last week, not as good looking as the GTi, nicely built but quite underwhelming - certainly did not feel like a £30k + car
  8. If you fancy a Merc CLS there is at least £11000 off on top of normal discounts or if you fancy a bit of vulgar theres £5500 off Q7's
  9. With 5k that would probably cover 12 months payments on a brand new one if you use the money available as a deposit :D
  10. Current models have approx £13000 discount available on them, on top of dealer discount and a very low rate on PCP, I think about 3.5% Good deals to be had if you have the £
  11. And I skipped a brand new G60 inlet manifol last month
  12. I bought a new coilpack late last year for about £70, trying to remember where it was from but really good service
  13. Chris Bangle designed the Fiat Coupe whilst he was at Pininfarina before he went to BMW and inflicted his "flame surfacing" on them Nice wheel and I have certainly never seen them before
  14. Got the caliper from www.carparts-direct.co.uk and the discs / pads from an ebay seller I have used before - all stuff is OE - clickamotorpart.
  15. Admittedly not on a Corrado but can't believe that people actually pay the inflated prices. Needed a new rear brake caliper for the 4Mo - £138.00 + VAT Witha bit of shoppinbg around I have a new caliper, pair of rear discs and rear pads, all OE equipment for just over £100
  16. Can't go wrong with http://www.senditnow.com - good prices and great service by ParcelForce Will collect either morning or afternoon and offer a range of delivery options, hey will even print the address labels for you.
  17. I did have a look around and to be honest there isn't much out there - most are very simplistic, at least with with this you can chop and change drivers, chassis and engines - agree totally with the point about how slowly its updated though
  18. If its like last season they revalue chassis, engines and drivers as the season progresses so if you buy and sell right you can end up with a good team by about mid-season
  19. Set up a Corrado Forum league here http://www.fantasy-F1.net Name of league - Corrado Forum Password - Corradoforum Tough getting a team within the budget but should make for some close contests this year Results after Monaco Pos. 20. Certainly proves that there is no substance in the theory that all cars look the same because of EU regulations - I admire Nissan for trying something different
  21. Brave to poduce something that will polarise opinion but certainly looks more appealling than the Mini Countryman
  22. Bland and uninspiring Kias / Hyundais may be but I would imagine that there are many more customers who want reliable, comfortable cost effective motoring more than they want cutting edge design and technology. Whilst it is clever marketing it also demonstartes a good understanding of what a lot of customers actually want The Koreans (and I'm sure the Chinese in the future) are taking a leaf out of what the Japanese did in the 70's, it worked then and I'm sure it will work again. Hyundai actually sold more cars to private individuals last year then the likes of Ford / Vauxhall etc
  23. Having gone throught the warranty with a fine toothcomb (sadly its the kind of thing I need to do) the warranty has no more caveats than a standard 36 month / 60000 mile warranty that most other manufacturers offer. The Hyundai warranty is arguably even better, whilst shorter at 5 years its unlimited mileage. Rather than these premium manufacturers talking about the quality of their vehicles why not put their money where their mouth is and offer similar warranties
  24. IIRC correctly they do need to be trimmed, not a time consuming job but needs doing bit by bit
  25. I can sort of see the logic in him being prosecuted but there is an appalling lack of consistency in sentencing. is being the pasenger in a car being driven by someone over the limit really a more serious crime of having no licence, no insurance etc where the standard sentence is a long way from being a custodial one
