  1. Get some decent supspension fitted and they even become a good drive, couldn't believe the difference it made
  2. The website was in chaos last night, they also had Becker sat navs for £20. Managed to collect two parts washers and the air ratchet set this morning but the compressor I had reserved was "faulty" - now means I have an air ratchet set and no compressor :D
  3. No, the B5 and B5.5 Passat 4Motions use the Audi Quattro system, the V6 is the 30 valve Audi engine and not the VR Within Volkswagen Group, transverse engined cars use the Haldex system, longitudinal engined cars use Quattro (permanent 4wd but variable split)
  4. Passat V6 4Motion - quick, comfortable, permanent four wheel drive - easily upgradeable in terms of suspension etc - mine was superb and regret selling it
  5. Never had a problem with Paris tbh, need to be decisive and don't make eye contact otherwise you're a goner
  6. Feel free to drop me a PM if you want the heads up on Northern Italy, been there more times than I care to remember and have a reasonable knowledge of the area. Another place to visit is Brescia, home of the start / finish of the Mille Miglia and the Tazio Nuvolari museum - Verona, great shopping to keep the girls happy. Good amusement park (Gardaland) is near Pescharia at the bottom of Lake Garda - I could go on
  7. If you're going to Lake Garda its not THAT far down south to Maranello, calling in at Imola, if only to see the Senna statue, part of my pilgrimage every time I go to Lake Garda, going west you can call in at Monza. Worth going up the cable car at Malcesine on Lake Garda, Malcesine also has two awesome model car shops. A trip round the lake is worthwhile with some epic tunnels on the western side of the lake. Milan is not really worth a visit. If you're into culture then the home of the Italian poet D'Annuzio is worth a visit, just plain weird house but fascinating
  8. The Cerbera was generally acknowledged to be very reliable - apart from the engine on Speed Six models I know a few people with Cerberas, Tuscans and T350's - generally it seems to be that the more they are used the more reliable they are. A friend of mine has the ex-Devad Beckham lightweight Cerbera and its been pretty much 100% reliable in the four years he has owned it Probably woirth speaking to someone like David Gerald sportscars to get a specialists view
  9. Lister Storm uses far more than just the door mirrors, most of the monocoque is used, windscreen, side windows, doors etc
  10. Philmo - you were indeed thinking of the original Europa - many moons ago that one
  11. All M100s had Isuzu 1.6 litre engines. both n/a and turbocharged and were virtually unbreakable. Suspension was totally bespoke and changed very little between Series 1 and 2 models, all were regarded as outstanding in terms of handling but also boring due to them being so foolproof. Purists dismissed the M100 because of it being FWD but I reckon a decent M100 is a surefire future classic and will have reasonable running costs

    Stone Chips

Lots of people have tried to replicate the blending solution and failed

    Stone Chips

If a respray is not an option the best bet is one of these http://www.drcolorchip.com/ I have used three of their kits on various cars and the results are massively better than anything else I have used, going to be using one on a friends 911 in a couple of weeks - not the cheapest option but the results are worth it results I have been thinking about organising a Group Buy but you need about 25 orders before it starts to provide a decent saving (most of thesaving is from massively reduced postage)
  14. If you still want to enjoy your driving and want something that is good value etc etc then you can't go far wrong with a Focus or Mondeo
  15. Great first effort at the machine polishing - glad I have been able to be of some assistance
  16. Looks like its going to be used to build the next Boxster and Cayman - Porsche have not renewed the contract with Magna and have announced that they will be built at a refurbished facility in Germany

    Audi TT 225

I think a Mk1 TT is now looking like a really viable alternative to a Corrado - would love to one of the stripped out 225 models, the one with the black roof. With decent suspension, a Milltek and a remap they could be a decent drivers car
  18. Anything that is reversible is fine with me. I know some people did not like how my Nugget developed but everything was quickly and easily reversible, when I sold it I asked the new owner what original parts he wanted, IIRC he took nothing, leaving me with boxes of original stuff I'm sure a time will come when the most sought after Corrados are ones as close to possible as original, including ride height but think that time is still some way off
  19. The cream that the new 911 Sport Classic comes in would work really well on a Corrado
  20. What happens if your car hits an open ended barrier, driver very luckyto survive but lost both legs http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=332375
  21. You're first Judith, I'll start a list: 1. Butterfly
  22. Judith - will start to offer this immediately after Christmas
  23. Now that so many people are using machine polishers I have decided to come up with an offer for people. Having now acquired a good quality Paint Thickness Gauge I have decided to hire it out - most people cannot justify the circa £160-£200 it costs to buy such a gauge outright, I can only do it because I do occassional work on other peoples cars. For £10 per week I will send out mine, complete with full instructions (its childs play to operate) and a vehicle schematic for recordings to be noted. The cost includes postage, you simply pay the £10 and the return postage - not messing around with refundable deposits etc, I have to be able to trust people and don't want the hassle of collecting and returning deposits etc. £2 of every hire will go to Children In Need - I'm offering this as more of a service than as a way of making money, if it allows me to eventually recover the cost of the gauge then I'll be more than happy This will allow people to have accurate paint depth measurements of their cars, allowing correction work to be undertaken with confidence and without the expense of having to purchase a gauge
  24. Massive selection of Ur Quattros at the recent Audi Driver day at Castle Combe, I was amazed at how many were very shabby looking. Talking to a couple of owners it became clear that the reason so many were looking so tired was purely down to the fact that spares were so expensive / hard to find. The minority that were nice were absolutely stunning though. In real terms they are not even quite quick nowadays but I'd still love to own one, a real "icon" car
  25. You do have to apply it quite carefully, ie do it exactly as per the instructions. I used the cleaner as supplied in the kit and followed the instructions and have been totally amazed at the results. As an added bonus ice might still form but a slight nudge and it will just slide off
