  1. Really sorry to hear of your loss - I lost my dad nearly three years ago 6 weeks after being diagnosed with a brain tumour, I hope you said everything you needed / wanted to say to him - knowing that I did has helped me a lot since he died
  2. Can't go wrong with this for a drying towel,just bought a couple and 1 will comfortably dry a Corrado http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/s ... p?t=128244
  3. Might be wise to bin the chamois as well, much better off with a proper drying cloth
  4. I think we can app have a good guess at who you are talking about. Based on personal experience and that of others both G-Werks and JMR offer good quality rebuilds with good levels of customer service - lots of happy customers from both of them
  5. I'd second what John says - the Corrado is essentially a fairly straightforward and reliable car if its been maintained to a reasonable level. However, with even the youngest being 14 years old you need to have a fund to ensure that everything is kept on top of. I'm about to embark on a similar thing (with an Audi Coupe) - its coming with 168k on the clock and a full service history but I'm fully expecting some things needing attention immediately and other things to be scheduled over the next few months - I've put £500-600 to one side just to cover the essentials
  6. Mid-mounted 4.2 V8 from the last RS4
  7. Its a difficult one and only you can decide. I found when I had my Nugget G60, that even though it was very reliable and well set up I did not drive it as hard as I did the other cars in the house - yes it brought a smile to my face when I drove it but I certainly would not have wanted to use it as a daily driver. Is it possible for you to keep the VR and buy an older but still well equipped barge for daily use, I certainly didn't regret taking the G60 off the daily driver routine and buying the Passat
  8. Leonard - they do an identical one with the 5 speed shift pattern as well
  9. Gearknob and gaiter are OE Volkswagen R-Line, not cheap at about £60 but nice if you want to keep the OE look
  10. Can only mirror what everyone else has said, the C was gorgeous but the Mk1 looks like a superb base for you to work your magic on - hope you have more success at creating time for yourself to be able to work on it, I tried and failed miserably when Noah came along, hence why I sold the G60 Many congratulations on the baby , if its anything like I'm experiencing, its life changing but definitely for the better
  11. Dead easy, as Coullstar has already said, our Golf has beige leather and beige doorcards so didn't fancy black inserts in the door pulls, simply bought beige door pulls from a base spec Golf that did not have any trim inserts. Centre console trim was simply sanded, sprayed and lacquered. Door pull can just be seen in this pic
  12. Dirtytorque - I must admit I'm looking to colecting it - all for comfortably less than £1000 too :D
  13. Jim - I think so, must admit to not doing a lot of research, I was actually close to buying a Peugeot 309GTi Goodwood and this came up out of the blue, was offered at a price that needed a very quick response :D
  14. aide - yes, the early ones were 2.3 litre 5 cylinder and of course the S2 which was a 2.2 litre turbo. Engine in the one I have bought is the trusty 2 litre 16v lump
  15. Majik - fortunately I wasn't after the ultimate in handling finesse - I know the Audi disappoints in that area, just fancied something else to the Passat which has been great for three years and when this was offered to me I thought "why not".
  16. I know that they are not quick (in 2 litre 16V guise anyway) and don't handle particulary well as standard but fully intend to sort out the handling in due course. They just look so elegant nowadays
  17. Hated these when they were new but seemed to have aged really well. Bought it as a bit of a project car to be honest, body and trim and superb, I will gradually go through it mechanically - must be getting old as solidity and comfort are taking a higher priority Can't believe I'm going back down to a mere two litre but the car was too nice to turn down - I was looking for a Corrado again but for the money I got the Audi for the Corrados just did not come close in terms of condition
  18. Classic case of picing stuff at a level that people are still prepared to pay - the new Polo is at the top end when compared to the competition. However a similarly powerful Fiesta is the same price as a Polo 1.2 SE but does without alloy wheels, electric rear windows, stability control and air con that are all standard on the Polo. Autocar tested the Polo this week and it just seems to follow the normal Polo recipe - take a Golf and reduce in size by 15% - seems to be a formula that works for them, certainly wouldn't recommend a Polo to anyone whose main priority was a fulfilling driving experience
  19. You can tell me all about it when I come down to see your BM in a couple of weeks
  20. Called the Lynx Eventer and made by Lynx, converted quite a few of them. IIRC they used the rear window from a Citroen Ami. They were rumoured to be trying somthing similar with the XK8 but I don't think it ever came to fruition
  21. Well, if you ever do a kit for a V6 Mk4 I'll definitely have one - found the one in my G60 quite useful
  22. Any prospect of these becoming available for Mk4's at some point in the future?
  23. Totally agree with what has already been said, another piece of advice is to bin the T-Cut, generally does more harm than good
  24. Love the fact that everything is totally bespoke, I'm sure the quality and driving experience will be top drawer but find the styling a little bit too safe. May have been deliberate due to the perception that all supercars are highly polluting eco disasters and a subtle look will give it a chance of blending into the background, personally I'd prefer a little more "edge" to the styling
