  1. samthegram - your Valver is already there, massively impressed with it at Tatton Park this year, took more photos of yours than any other car
  2. Whilst I will still be around until the spares I have accumulated are being sold I will feel like an imposter still being on here. The last four and a half years of Corrado ownership (2 G60's) and a combined mileage accumulated of 90k + have been the best motoring years of my life - in part thats the cars but its the people we have met that have made the time really special. We have loved every moment of every show and have made some really good friends as a result - these friendships will hopefully remain for years to come. Seeing the Nugget drive off tonight was genuinely an emotional moment, more so for Sarah than me to be honest but I know it was the right time to sell. I have limited spare time and I don't want turning round to me in a few years saying "Why were you always in the garage daddy". He will probably now say "Why were you so stupid to sell the nice yellow car" but thats easier to live with. The coming years I want to commit to Noah, he is growing up so quickly and at the weekend I'd rather spend time with him than do anything else. The Corrado has gone in the best condition its ever been in, its been great to see so many nice comments about the car over the last few weeks and I have made the new owner promise to give me first refusal should he decide to sell n the future. Will I ever own another C - I doubt it to be honest - when Noah is at an age where he can fully appreciate the car and the shows the youngest C will be nudging 20 years old - at least I can say that I have comprehensively scratched the Corrado itch. The site has got some awesome Corrados, too many stand out cars to mention, whether it be the big power cars of the likes of Kev and Shaun, the cleanliness of Kips, the cars brought back from the brink and a whole host of others - I salute you all :D The Forum has been (mostly, as in 99.9%) a fantastic place to be for the last four and a half years, it really is in a different league to any other and I wish everyone on here many happy, trouble free (I can hope) and most of all, safe miles in their Corrados. Thanks for the memories Andy665
  3. Coullstar - don't know whereabouts in Aberdeen, the guy is picking me up from the airport - thanks for the offer though
  4. Its going to Co. Kerry next Thursday - its just driven off, first time in 4 1/2 years that it has been driven by anyone else, Sarah was balling her eyes out
  5. Adz the Rat - not directly replacing it with anything - have swapped the wifes Saab for a rather nic (but standard at the mo) Golf V6 4Motion which I'm picking up from Aberdeen tomorrow
  6. Danny B - bought them now, start of the transformation - always thought that these were a lovely rim and quite happy with the price considering how expensive they were as an option on the standard GTi's
  7. Jazzdevil - thank you very much. Its a sad day in many ways but I'm being realistic - I'm selling it in the best condition its been in since I bought the car four and a half years ago. Its going to a guy who I'm sure will at the very least maintain its current condition and hopefully will take it to the next level. Sarah has decided to go out for the evening as she said it will be too upsetting to see the car drive off - Noah had his first ever journey in the car so it will always have a special place in our hearts. They can take the car but they can never take the memories
  8. Thinking of these as first purchase - refurbed in a slightly darker grey than standard
  9. Jon_VR6 - definitely to an enthusiast - he has a mint Mk2 at home, the Corrado will be used as a second car - good that it will get more use. The bloke sounded almost apologetic about buying it - really sorry to see it go but I do not have the ability, time or money to take it to the next level. Phoned Sarah to tell her and she burst into tears - until I told her I was giving her 1k to spend on the 4Mo :D
  10. Well, the G60 has just been sold so will have some money to spend next week on the 4Mo
  11. Jon_VR6 - the Alfa was very tempting, not the 2.0TS 156 but the ex Press car 166. It had absolutely every option available on it, only had 55k on the clock, full history, the 3.0 V6 with manual box, it just needed a good machine polish and I could have had it for 2.5k - was about to buy it when a good friend of mine told me about a friend of his has just had his 166 declared a write off because he heater matrix needed replacing Really happy with the Golf - something about the VW badge gives me peace of mind
  12. I have a lot of the wooden trim that I took off the old Bora - might flat it down and spray it black to see how it looks.
  13. I'd have said that was as a result of hitting someone, they have bounced up the boneet and smacked their head on the windscreen / roof
  14. Danny B - I normally hate the wooden stuff in the Golf but it sort of works with the interior colour - don't really know what I'd replce it with, I don't think aluminium trim would look right somehow Coullsatar - I'm really looking forward to getting it, now doubled my resolve to sell the G60 as I can then start spending on the 4Mo, suspension and wheels are definitely in order
  15. Got someone interested in the Nugget but maybe looking at doing a deal with the plate thats on it. G60 AWK so its not a G6 with the O moved across - anyone recently seen or bought a G60 plate so I can get an idea of what its worth. The plate specialists are talking of circa. £1k but don't believe I could get as much as that in the current climate. My feeling is that it would be able to fetch somewhere in the region of £500 - one things for sure I don't want to hang on to it for long if I decide to retain it.
  16. Alexander - I love the MK4's interior, far superior to the MK5 in terms of quality. I would not have gone for anything other than a V5 or V6, I've had a couple of 1.8T engined cars and whilst I know they have massive tuning potential I just think they arebland and characterless, the V engines are in a different league in terms of refinement and character - at the price I paid it was pretty much a no brainer
  17. Intention is to keep it standard for a while, suspension and Santa Monica's at some point next year.
  18. Fortunately at the moment its in addition to the G60, is for the wife until I decide to take it over
  19. Listened to my head rather than the heart and acquired this little beauty - picking it up from sunny Aberdeen on Saturday
  20. Deal now done on the Golf 4Motion at £2900. 74k from new 1 owner Mint condition beige leather Cruise control Upgraded stereo FVWSH New tyres, brakes (discs and pads), springs, shocks, ARB bushes this year 12 months MOT Checked with Glasses Guide (this months) and trade is £2875 so quite happy that I have unearthed a bargain, certainly a fair bit cheaper than most equivalent 4Mo's
  21. I think a lot of other drivers are envious of Hamiltons apparent easy ride to a top flight drive. I have read a lot about the philosophy of McLaren and Ron Dennis and I don't believe for a second that they would have ditched him at any point in their relationship if he wasn't performing / behaving in a way that they felt was inappropriate for them. Hamilton has got where he is through dedication, determination and talent.
  22. Just been offered a 2000 (higher tax exempt) 4Motion - 5 door (which is a must for us), 74k on the clock, FSH, new tyres, springs, shocks, brakes, 12 months MOT, full beige leather, cruise control, 1 owner from new for £2900 - seems like a good buy to me
  23. He came and bought the car anyway so all worked out OK, made sure it went with a very clear bill of sale to protect myself
  24. Looks like Sarah has ruled out Stans Golf - she likes the car and knows it will be a good 'un because its been owned by Stan but the mileage is too high for her - doesn't bother personally but shes doing the typical woman thing of thinking about resale value before she has even bought it.
