  1. As has already been said Chemical Guys New Lokk Trim gel is good but Black Wow is fantastic, not cheap but I have barely touched my bottle after doing a few cars - a little goes a very long way
  2. Looking good Judith - think the competition will be intense - wouldn't like to predict the winner
  3. We had a V5 Bora (10 valve) and loved it. The performance is not great, a 1.8T would outperform it but it had bags of character, something that the 1.8T never had. After it had a Milltek fitted the noise was gorgeous and it was actually very smooth. It would cruise all day at 90+ (in Germany only obviously) and it never returned less than 29mpg, on a fast 900 mile one day run back from Switzerland last year it actually delivered just over 31mpg.
  4. Must admit the V8 Vantage I had for the weekend last year sounded a lot better than the XKR I drove but think that noise apart I'd prefer the XKR, does everything the Vantage does for 2/3 of the money
  5. The more I look at poor driving the more I realise that there is no real trend, a bad driver can be either sex, any age, any colour driving any car - I have spent years driving with the philosophy of "expect the people around me to do the unexpected" - touch wood its kept me accident free for 23 years and over 1 million miles. Having said that Xsara Picasso, Renault Scenic and Vauxhall Zafira drivers seem to be worse than average :D
  6. The XKR is the only one worth having, the normally aspirated XK feels quite sluggish, even if it does have 290bhp
  7. They are a lovely car - so much more of a sports car than the old XKR ever was, just a pity then don't offer a manual option.
  8. Check all of them every week on all of the cars. Corrado and Saab never use water or oil, Passat uses a bit of oil and water but at a very consistent rate, tyre pressures seem to be all over the place
  9. Quick update - got a meeting with the Brand Manager and Aftersales / Parts Managers on 29th of the month - hopefully have some good news after this :D
  10. Fiat Barchetta pop out handles would look good
  11. I find a toothbrush is pretty good at getting wax residue off trim - great thing about Dodo Juice is you can apply it to virtually anything, including black trim without running into "white residue" problems
  12. Welcome If you want someone to come out and clean your car I'll do it for the cost of the flight :D
  13. From 12.30 until 5.25pm
  14. Amazing that the bloke responsible for the abortion that was the Countach Anniversary could also pen such a beautiful object as the Zonda
  15. IIRC orange peel is now a bigger problem than it used to be because of the switch to water based paints. Volkswagen paint seems worse than many other manufacturers although the Jetta and Golf estate seems not be as bad - seems odd that the Mexican built cars seem to have better paintwork. I'm with you on the paintwork Kev - my C is 17 years old and is far from perfect but I'm proud of the fact that its 90% original paint - it will be resprayed at some point in the distant future but a few marks and stonechips adds to its character rather than detracts from it. Keeping it as clean as possible is helping me delay a respray for as long as possible.
  16. Kev - you're right when you say that people get drawn into detailing. I started off years ago just using CarPlan, Simoniz type stuff, then went on to AutoGlym, talking to people over the years has seen me drawn in to things much more. I just find the time I spend cleaning very relaxing, I don't think about all the other "life" crap.
  17. And don't forget that a clean car is more aerodynamically efficient and therefore faster, there you go Kev - a link between cleaning and performance is identified :D, I'd be the first to admit that your route to more performance is more interesting though
  18. At £20 for ten they are very good value - just ordered a set, more stuffto go into my "reserve" cupboard :D
  19. Wouldn't dream of taking a cut - I'll get my rewards in heaven :D
  20. They look nice - don't suppose you know if they do them in yellow :D :D
  21. Following something that was raised at the AGM, I have had a couple of conversations with a VW dealer that I have a good relationship with to see if I can set up a deal to get Corrado and general consumables at a decent price. The dealer in question is very keen to do something even though I stated that my starting point would be to negotiate something as close to possible as "cost price plus 10% for everything we want", this would hopefully include things like oil, filters etc.. Might not mean much of a saving for smaller items or items that are going to incur big postage costs but I'm happy to progress things to a proper sit down meeting if everyone thinks it is something worth pursuing. Items would need to be ordered and paid for by me but I'm happy to do this and package things up that need posting.
  22. They are all taken at the moment but I'd be surprised if there aren't a couple of cars dropping out - no one on the reserve list either so you'd stand a good chance of squeezing on
  23. Need to get yourself signed up with the Corrado Club and get your name on the reserve list for Stanford Hallnext month, don't think there is anyone else on the reserve list at the moment so you'd stand a good chance of getting on the club display
  24. Looks very nice, as for fuel consumption you're clearly not driving it right :D
