  1. Just tried the Autoglym Carnuba Wax and IMHO its not as good as the Dodo Juice waxes I have in terms of ease of application and finish it leaves - not got a clue on how durability compares to the Dodo waxes but I'm more interested in the finish anyway
  2. Probably more to do with efficiency than anything else. A turbocharger utilises waste products (exhaust gases) to power it and therefore increase engine power whereas a supercharger actually draws engine power, i believe Jaguar have stated that the charger on the XKR models actually consumes in the region of 90PS. Volkswagen have in fact sold a lot of the twincharge engine, just not in the UK where its probably down to poor marketing than anything else. I have seen customers look shocked when the price of a twincharged Golf is declared, they think its an awful lot of money for a "mere" 1.4 litre engined car. If people looked at the power output rather than the engine capacity then there would be far less of an issue
  3. Steve - I've got six (or seven) of the Dodo Juice Waxes - personally I prefer the soft waxes purely because they are easier to apply and remove (although their durability is worse) - I'd happily recommend both types though. I did the car with Banana Armour in just over 30 mins so not really hard work. Just wish I could find a wax taht I can actually see when I'm applying it, the one time I'm jealous of people with darker coloured cars :D
  4. Shaun - the stance is sooo much better now, looks really planted now, its been something I have been unhappy with for a while but Ultimate Dubs sealed it for me - so many cars with perfect stances. Fitting the spacers also allowed me to clean the arches again - done nearly 10 miles since they were last done :D
  5. Iggi - the LNS's are going next weekend - sad to see them go but under orders to sell the four sets of spare wheels (for various cars) cluttering up the place
  6. After realising whilst at Ultimate Dubs that my wheels were not filling the arches like they should I invested in 15mm front and 20mm rear hubcentric spacers this week. Before and after pics show that it is definitely sitting better now - I think so anyway. Pics were taken immediately after dropping back on the ground so suspension had not quite settled.
  7. Diggerbucket - just follow the link: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=66707
  8. Good race, definitely improved by cars having no traction control 1st - Hamilton - McLaren 2nd - Heidfeld - BMW 3rd - Rosberg - Williams 4th - Alonso - Renault 5th - Kovalainen - McLaren 6th - Nakajima - Williams 7th -Bourdais - Toro Rosso 8th - Raikkonen Sure Coulthards comment on Massa will be edited out of the highlights this afternnon. Massa and Coulthard came together in a corner (debateable who was in the wrong tbh), Coulthard said "If he doesn't do the decent thing and apologise I'm going to find him and kick the sh** out of the little bast***"" :D Only 7 cars finished but a race worth watching 1 MINCYS HEROES Mr Cole 75 2 RIGHTLINE Mr Line 71 3 THE MONOTONES Mr Owen 69 4 THE HUB Mr McCurry 67 5 BEN16V Mr Pegler 62 6 SHEEETSPEEEED Mr Kennedy 60 7 BEEP BEEP VROOOOOM! 9. Been following this thread for over 12 months - long read but well worth it. http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.p ... opic=69918
  10. Now thats more like it and definitely a coupe - pity its Photoshopped
  11. It will be your car and you can do what you want with it. I personally wouldn't worry about what anyone says - only thing that may be a factor is the cars resale value if it doesn't have the standard cream interior. If you could afford to I'd hang onto the cream interior so you could put it back if you ever came to sell.
  12. Fuel consumption did drop to an average of about 27-28mpg - well worth it though, power delivery was so strong and consistent the thing just flew, I had a cat back Milltek and K&N panel filter fitted and it was RR'd at 236bhp
  13. Sonicriot13 - looks nothing like a Scirocco, the Alfa looks like a coupe
  14. Looks like a 3door Corsa from some angles but got to be the best looking small hatch out there now. Broadly based on the Grande Punto but only the bits you can't see. Tipped to be available as a 190PS GTa version, possibly with 4wd or at the very least the Q2 LSD. On sale in June in Europe and here later in the year - priced from about £12k.
  15. I had an Upsolute chip fitted to my Leon Cupra at their agents in Rochester a few years ago - massive improvement and no issues at all - only possible downside was the fact it wouldn't cruise comfortably at 80, it was far happier at 100
  16. Don't shoot the messenger :D The girl who called you was presented with duff info and was acting accordingly, factor in the fact that shes probably had sod all training and you have a recipe for a vague / wishy washy message being presented to you. Most vehicles at main franchised dealers will have a health check completed on them to identify red (immediate attention required) and amber (mid term) work identified. Its certainly not uncommon for the information provided to the customer being different to that recorded on the vehicles record sheet - it shouldn't happen but it does.
  17. Have a Passat V6 Syncro that is totally reliable, very comfortable and dull as ditchwater. Would like to use the Corrado as my only car but I do 1000+ miles per week.
  18. The A4 and Golf platforms are totally different, longitudinally mounted engine in the A4, transverse in the Golf. Mk1 Leon shares the MK4 Golf platform that also sits beneath the MK1 TT, A3, Octavia, Bora. Out of the cars on your list I'd choose the Leon, not fantastic to drive but a bit tighter in all respects than the Mk4 Golf, IMHO looks a lot better too. Just watch the interior plastics of the Leon, a lot lower quality than in the Golf and they mark very easily
  19. He can ask £3500 all day long for it but I doubt he'll get it, unless of course its mechanically perfect and the dirt is removed to reveal pristine bodywork. I know from previous experience that buying a car that hasn't been near a wash mitt for a while can unearth a bargain, my Passat was a disgrace in terms of dirt etc but after a hard days graft a really nice, straight car emerged. You need to know much more about the car before being able to judge what you're prepared to pay.
  20. Kev - you're all heart :D W3RKD - thanks for the comments, got very few remarks about the mirrors, perhaps they are almost too subtle, I like them so and don't do anything on the car purely to please others Rado-Steve - don't think that there is much we can do with our paintwork, just have to accept that yellow is never going to get a real depth to the reflection - mine is better than last year, I think mainly down to better prep and using the Dodo Double Wax topped with a coat of Bannana Armour Didn't spend that long looking at other cars at Ultimate Dubs but I was amazed at how many of them looked like "money no object" creations, whilst I enjoy looking at these and admire the quality of work the cars that I admire most are those that are either done on a budget or where there has clearly been a lot of time and thought invested by the owner - like the Mk1 Scirocco and the red Derby opposite the R8.
  21. I think in the bad old days spacers were something to be avoided but with hubcentric spacers I don't think there is anything to worry about
  22. Joby - yes I did have to check that measurement. My rear hubs have the longer bearing housing (about 16-17 mm topped by a chamfered edge), therefore was advised to go with 20mm spacers, can't remember the ET of my wheels but at 7" wide I think I'll get away with 20 mm spacers - I'll find out tomorrow  Certainly seem to be helpful guys though
  23. I think he's in a JPS liveried Lotus
  24. Cheshire police even have an unmarked car with a personal plate on it, numbers being 999. Cheshire seem to be sneakier than most, seen them running Octavias, Volvo S60's, current BM 3 series etc, not necessarily in the usual dark blue or silver either. Big giveaways for me is additional equipment around rear view mirror and no dealer sticker in the window or on numberplate
  25. Come on - two more and we have a "live" league Entry is free and you get entered into the main league as well as the Corrado Forum one to Some good prizes on offer this year and adds to the fun of the season
