  1. Mk3 Yeti - what you were told is totally correct. VW have not even released official pictures of the Passat CC to dealers and that was shown in full production trim at Detroit in Jan. Scirocco is showing on dealers target for the back end of the year and although I know when they are due to start arriving at dealerships I'm afraid I'm not allowed to tell anyone
  2. Next weeks Autocar (out next Wednesday) will have pictures and full story of the new Scirocco - presume its going to be unveiled in production form at the Geneva Motor Show
  3. CrazyDave - that is sad, my neighbours think I'm mad for cleaning out my arches in the daylight, if I went out in the dark and did it they'd want me carted away
  4. Was just about to fit my new polished expansion tank today until I realised that there is no connector for the plug that normally attaches - I'm presuming that not having this will trigger a warning light, can anyone suggest a way round it?
  5. Popped into Tesco at lunchtime to see that Performance Car is back on the shelves. Looks like really good photography and a decent smattering of older performance car articles features such as M3 v Ur Quattro v Delta Integrale v Rallye
  6. Nice and simple job this afternoon, all wheels off, arches cleaned out, rear silencer polished, inner rims all cleaned up, wheels bolts greased and everything put back on - no grazed knuckles, nothing to go wrong, in fact, almost a pleasure
  7. Stormcharged - got six of the Dodo waxes - all are excellent although I have not tried my Double Wax yet. Have got Zymol, Swissvax, Collinite waxes as well and Dodo is right up there with the Glasur for depth of shine. Personal preference but I like the Dodo soft waxes more than the hard ones VWDeviant - heres a couple of before / after pictures from the rear bumper after using Black Wow - thats just one coating, I know form prior experience that it will last for months
  8. I'll get some for you tomorrow and post them up - did the scuttle cover today, it was a really washed out dirty grey colour and one wipe over with the Black Wow has brought it back to as good as new - its fantastic stuff but seeing is believing
  9. Bought a little (pair of) something that willhopefully be on the car for Ultimate Dubs
  10. Was not sure whether to spend the weekend getting the C ready for Ultimate Dubs or to start getting the Saab into shape, decided on the latter. Whilst very clean, its done 117k so needed some TLC: Washed Clayed, although I was surprised at how little ingrained dirt came out Paintwork cleaned with Dodo Lime Prime (fantastic product) Polished and deswirled with Sonus SFX1 and SFX2 by PC Coat of Chemical Guys Pure Finishing Glaze Just needs two coats of Jetseal then the wax can start to go on but quite pleased with the depth of shine - should be even deeper once the Dodo Double Waxes go on Real hard work - makes you realise how small a C is Also cleaned and conditioned the leather (so much higher quality than VW leather), fitted new badges, meshed the front grilles (looks a lot better now), just need to clean and dress the wheelarches, treat the plastics with Black Wow and fit the new wheels
  11. Very nice Neil, even if it does have the wrong engine in it , certainly looks like a well cared for example Surprised you managed to stay away from a Corrado for so long
  12. Metallic gold - commonly known in VW businesses as Jewish Racing Beige
  13. I had mine the weekend before last, a 2.0 DCi: Plus points - nice equipment spec, half leather, panaromic sunroof, cruise control etc, very comfortable seats, pretty relaxed motorway car Minus points - crap economy (I averaged 41mpg despite driving it reasonably sensibly), stupidly narrow powerband (2000 - 4000 rpm) with real old style turbo lag, horrible steering, lots of tyre noise, rattles and squeaks galore (despite it having only covered 1,800 miles) Was actually glad to get back in to my 10 year old 130k Passat, feels more solid and refined.
  14. Another point to consider is what they define as "inefficient". The Fox is economical but has to be transported from Brazil via Germany - whats the carbon footprint of that journey??? Surely someone running a 10-15 year old car that averages 28mpg has less environmental impact than a person who changes their car for a newly built one every 3 years but averages 35mpg We pay stupid amounts of tax on fuel - if we then choose to run cars that are less economical than others then surely its our choice
  15. I've re-wrapped my harness in the cloth tape, looks totally OE and is very easy to work with
  16. The owner has been ticketed before in Manchester, apparently he's a big property developer, I often see the car around Alderley Edge area - nice to see a Veyron being used regularly. Allegedly he's got a sticker on the back bumper that says "My other car is a Corrado"
  17. Stainless steel washer bottle, power steering fluid bottle and expansion tank, just need a good polish now

    New RS6

Does make you wonder how much power is too much - 572 bhp - beginning to think that cars like this should require mandatory advanced driver training http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/Fir ... S6/230483/
  19. Bought a Scotch Brite Easy Erasing Pad yesterday for the princely sum of £1 from Asda after hearing that they can be used to remove scuff marks etc from interior trim panels. Better halfs Saab has done 116k and has a cream interior, including door cards, as you can imagine they were lookig a bit scuffed with numerous marks on them. Simply damprn the pad and rub the white side of the pad across the marks - hey presto, every single mark came out. It does leave the surface with a slight matt finish but nothing that can't be put right with an interior dressing spray. Did the whole car (4 door cards, plastics around seat bases, B pillar trims, scuff plates on doors and tailgate, grab handles and sun visors in less than 30 minutes.
  20. I know how many have been allocated to the Retailers in my area - should be a couple of thousand available this year. Rumour is that the engines will be 1.4 Twincharger, 2.0 TDi and the 2.0 TFSi (either in 200PS or 230PS). Seems unlikely it will get anything bigger due to potential clashes with the TT but I suppose that could change.
  21. Billcor - apparently the wheel is designed to fit straight on to a Momo boss
  22. When was the last time you saw a thread about someone doing something like this where lots of extra work was required and lots of extra money was / needed to be spent. The theory is great, the reality could be a money pit. Factor in 2x insurance, 2x road tax Just playing devils advocate
  23. All in the car / DIY section 3x wax applicator pads - £1 wash mitts - decent quality - £2 (perfect for wheel arches, wheels, lower half of car etc) seat back coat hangers (think VW charge about £25 for these) - £2.99
  24. I suppose the counter argument about the price is "What other V6 powered coupe thats really practical could be bought with that kind of mileage for £12k"
