  1. I had the first one, as you say they are very good quality
  2. I would tend to agree with Andi re: using HID's on reflector type headlights, never seen them fitted in such a headlight before - BUT - always willing to be proved totally wrong
  3. Never seen a car other than F40's where flocking looks appropriate
  4. I always find it really easy - simply give the hoover to the wife and tell her its her time to do it
  5. I went in to detail on this before I had HIDs fitted. The MOT only requires that your headlights are correctly aligned - there is no law surrounding the fitment of auto levelling or high pressure washers. My car has been through an MOT with the HIDs fitted and no comment was made
  6. I'll check that out. Been out to the local VW site to order some parts and the water temp guage is now behaving itself, sitting at its usual 90-95 degrees. The oil temp guage showed a peak of 118 degrees but less than a mile later it was 98 degrees, totally convinced now that its electrical. Going to swap over the oil temp sender from the other G60, is this the one closest to the block above the oil filter housing?
  7. Maybe a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. If it was the voltage regulator on the clocks wouldit not affect the other MFA functions and the other instruments - seems strange it was only affect the oil and water temp readings and the water temp warning light?
  8. Going to start with the simple things first, current plan of action is: 1. Swap the instument cluster over and see what the readings are 2. Replace the oil temp sender 3. Replace water pump thermostat 4. Ask for further assistance Gut feeling is that its electrical rather than mechanical, seems strange that both oil and water temp readings should both go crazy, even more so when there there was no deterioration in performance, fuel economy, no funny smells or loss of oil or water
  9. Personally the one I would (and did) choose is the SWG kit using the original airbox
  10. Is the water pump thermostat the blue sender? The strange thing is that I'm not convinced the temp readings were correct, the engine bay certainly was no hotter than normal and levels were normal Must admit I was not conscious of the radiator fan cutting in, I'll get a new switch tomorrow - radiator fan not cutting in would not unduly affect the oil temp though - would it?????
  11. Travelling home this evening and all hell broke loose with water and oil temperature guages. Oil temp is normally no higher than 90-96 degrees but leapt up to as high as 130 but was rising and falling in 4-6 degree lumps by the second. At the same time the water temp, usually running at 90 degrees went upto just over 100 degrees. The water temp warning light then came on, pulled over, switched off and popped the bonnet, nothing untoward under the bonnet, oil level fine, no steam,or smoke, expansion tank at normal level Switched back on and oil temp settled at about 110 degrees and water temp at just below 100 degrees. Totaly stumped - only things done to the car recently have been an oil change yesterday and the black water temp guage sender replaced last week. Any ideas???????
  12. There are now a couple of good Puma specialists in the UK, Pumabuild in Birmingham and Pumaspeed up in Leeds. They both have websites: http://www.pumabuild.co.uk http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk I used to use Pumabuild and was always very happy with their work. Also found that Pumaspeed can offer a full RS style bodykit for the Fiesta - I actually think it looks superb
  13. Its a shame the Puma was considered to be a girls car, in terms of handling, grip, steering feel etc its well ahead of a Corrado (if both in standard form)
  14. Yamaha designed yes, apparently the licensing costs for each one produced made it too expensive to drop into any other Ford. Revs very freely but pretty weak torque wise, hardly a hardship with the great gearbox. Chassis balance was pretty spot on too
  15. The 1.7 was a superb little engine - only 123 bhp but very revvy, shame it didn't appear in other Fords but apparently it cost an arm and a leg to build - Yamaha seemed to stitch Ford up pretty well
  16. Surprisingly for a modern car you need to check for rust, they are pretty vulnerable around wheelarches, sills etc. The 1.7 is by far and away the best bet, 1.6's and 1.4's are pretty dire in a sporty coupe, best by a country mile, but pretty hardcore is the Racing, IMHO the best handling fwd car ever, even more intense than the Integra Type R, so good I've had two - running costs on the Racing can be frightening though. Good forum to check out is http://www.pumapeople.co.uk
  17. Another top notch piece of work - anything else in the pipeline????
  18. TBH I'm not sure, I'd prefer them to be standard spec. Looking at the pic above it also looks as if its got a late spec bonnet but an earlier 7 slat grille as well
  19. Got both colours on order of those plus the imminent Minichamps 1/43 Rado as well
  20. I'd always recommend travelling that bit further to get the car serviced by someone who knows and cares about what they are doing. I travel 500 miles to JMR - the time and cost pales into insignificance against the potential costs of things being overlooked by people who just happen to be more local
  21. Sad person that I am I have over 20 of them with another 3 on order, definite favourites are 3 in workshop dioramas
  22. ....just managed to bag myself a drive of one of my alltime dream cars, friends brother has a RUF Yellowbird and getting to drive it next Friday, being a passenger would have been enough for me
  23. I'll do a bit of searching then - easier to buy one than have to get one fabricated
  24. Looked at the Richbrook stuff and whilst they do a trim ring I'm looking for a proper chunky slotted gate
