  1. Looks like a trip to Maplins for me then - cheers
  2. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced electrical multi-meter - just thought it would be handy to have one in the garage ready for use
  3. If its in the Terms and Conditions then they haven't actually done anything wrong - under insurance law its the customers responsibility to read them and accept them - I have always accepted the fact that cancelling a policy is going to cost you big time. I agree its a heavy penalty to pay but its probably par for the course
  4. Jim - thanks for the offer but I reckon Saturday will tire him out, the radiotherapy has left him very weak and we need to be careful not to let him overdo things - hes staying at home on Saturday whether he likes it or not I have already e-mailed Jaguar Head Office about Rybrook - I'm determined to make them squirm on this one
  5. As some of you know my dad is not too well at the moment and I am trying to do everything I can to make his remaining time as enjoyable as possible. He's owned Jags for 10 years now and always had them maintained at Rybrook in Warrington, a Jaguar main dealer. Because of his illness he's had to surrender his licence but he loves the new XK8, I thought that I'd contact Rybrook, wheres he spent thousands over the years to see if they could assist - either lending me their demonstrator or allowing me to hire it for just an hour or two to give him a run out in his dream car. One letter and two telephone calls brought absolutely no response - needless to say I wasn't too impressed. I posted on Pistonheads yesterday - just saying how disappointed I was that a dealer should be so dismissive when a totally loyal customer could benefit from a gesture of goodwill. Totally out of the blue, Royles Jaguar of Wilmslow contacted me to offer their help - today I had it confirmed. They are taxing their new XK8 demonstratorr on Friday - I pick the car up at 10am on Saturday, fully insured and have it free of charge until 4.30pm, they are also providing my dad with a limited edition XK8 print to further cheer him up. I can't believe how generous this dealer is being, they have never had any sale or work from my dad and totally out of blue they have provided me with the opportunity of giving my dad a really enjoyable and memorable few hours. Royles Jaguar - thank you so much
  6. ...please answer with a simple Yes or No Can I assume that the alternator, supercharger etc are made from non-ferrous metals
  7. I'm certainly paranoid, when I was out on Saturday I was hearing a rattling noise from what I was sure was front n/s suspension, naturally as a Corrado owner I started to think of the trouble and expense of sorting an obviously major problem out. It actually turned out to be the ariel connector rattling against the underside of the roof - panic over until next time I hear a strange noise - probably by week end
  8. Thats not badly priced, even though it is a conversion, at least Dialynx know what they're doing and I would imagine that in most respects its a match for a factory Sport
  9. It would be nice to think that the Scirocco R20 will be stripped of unnecessary electronics but somehow I doubt it - legislation and marketing departments will see to that. On a similar note I'm currently having problems with my employer. I opted out of the company car scheme and drive the G60 on an everyday basis. They now want me to drive something newer because of legal advice they have received. Apparently I could sue the company if I had an accident because they allowed to drive a 15 year old car!!!!!! - the world is going mad
  10. Although similar in concept, they are two cars that deliver very differently. The Aud feels much bigger, is softer in its handling, steering precision, braking, and suffers badly from understeer, it is however very quick and safe when driving at 7/10ths. We all know what the Corrado is like and in most of the above areas the Corrado is a degree or two sharper and more incisive - in standard form the Corrado would deliver the more entertaining drive but that does not necessarily mean its the better car. Throw money at them both to modify and improve and both can be transformed. Audis of the S2's era are probably the best built mass produced cars ever, they are very practical and for some that will make the Audi the more appealling car. The S2 certainly holds some appeal for me but the Corrado has more and its running costs are certainly lower than the Audi.
  11. Looked like a really nice car - very cheap too
  12. Thanks guys - unfortunately the car has been sold now so it isn't my problem to be concerned about - shame as I fancied a LHD G60 thats lived in Japan, UAE and California and had air-con
  13. You might have hit on something there - apparently the timing was checked and a chip fitted a few months ago by Jabba
  14. Very tempted by a 1991 G60 with 75k on the clock thats had a very interesting life. Seller is very honest about the car and its main fault appears to be the fact that its over-fuelling. Before I make a final decision I'd welcome any thoughts on what the problem could be and more importantly - how much it could cost to rectify
  15. I believe the diesel was never officially sold in the UK and the petrol ones were limited to mid 80's mph - limiter is very often removed though
  16. The cheapest and earliest ones are going to be LHD but far more RHD have been sold. Massive amounts of accessories and specialists to personalise. The later the better as far as the cap gearbox is concerned and probably worth seeking one out with the optional "flappy paddles", seemed to be constant upgrades to the gearbox smoothness during its life.
  17. Nielsen supply a lot to the trade - my dad had a good friend who was one of their agents, all the freebies he got seemed to do a damned good jb - we are talking 10-15 years ago though
  18. The more I look at the pictures of the new Rocco the more I like it - most long lasting designs that stand the test of time take some getting used to. It looks like its the start of a newsharper design direction for Volkswagen and not before time
  19. I had the use of one for a while a couple of years ago. Very quick once up and running but you've got to wring the things neck - as you say very low on low down power and low on torque at all times. Much like the NSX the suspension geometry is critical, seen more than a few S2000's thrown off the road (usually backwards) as a result of iffy geometry and / or badly worn rear rear tyres The Honda dealer in Crawley import the Mugen tuning bits so it was probably oneof their cars you played with.
  20. That really is frightening - I wonder how many of us will be very nervous if ever we need to lift our carpet.
  21. Fingers crossed it's now sorted. Fitted new OE water temp sender - now back to reading 90 - 95 degrees (that will teach me to buy cheap non OE parts) Fitted new oil temp sender and now seems to be reading more realistically, peaked at 108 degrees when left ticking over for half an hour and fell back to 94 degrees after 10 minutes out driving.
  22. The guage just slides in from the front, nice snug fit with no need for any retaining clips etc I just drilled a small hole in the ducting behind the vent to feed the cables through
  23. You get the grille part, just snaps into place via the two retaining pins
