  1. Sorted - done as suggested and hammered a socket over said nuts Wheels sorted as well - they are not catching, I yanked the handbrake on harder than its probably been on for years - the resistance I was meeting was the handbrake not releasing fully, brute force with accelerator and brake pedals freed it up Please feel free to lock now
  2. Crap day that has just got worse - appreciate any advice that can be given Had my new suspension fitted to the Passat this morning so thought I'd fit the new wheels this afternoon. After changing the first wheel, n/side front the locking wheel nut (standard VW) decided to crumble and strip the ridges of the bolt. Any suggestions as to what I can do to get this wheel nut off the hub? Second problem is that although the wheel spun freely before I lowered the car back down to the ground its obvious that the new front wheel is catching on something as the car is now stuck solid. As the ridges in the locking wheel nut on this wheel has also been stripped of its ridges I'm totally screwed!.
  3. Pre-production pics of the new Fiat 500, incredibly close to the Trepiuno concept, aiming at sub Mini with prices from 8k - makes the Fox look even more of a box on wheels. Nice to see Fiat getting back to what they do best - small but appealing small cars
  4. One of the best little tweaks I've done to mine - really good quality, easy to set-up and love the fact that you can swtch it off if required. Its definitely one of those things that you have to buy once you've seen it
  5. You'll compromise ride comfort more by just changing the springs. Ideally springs and shocks should be matched. Shorter springs with standard shocks is almost certainly going to lead to badly compromised ride comfort - only gone down that route myself once before and vowed never to make the same mistake again.
  6. This week yes, supplier wasn't sure if there would be any demand (???) so bought just the one set to guage reaction
  7. First set are currently on their way back from Germany. First shipment proper I believe is due in around Christmas time - crap timing money wise but I'd rather get them whilst I can
  8. Second after me - should have some pics of the first set on a car in the UK by early next week
  9. The first set is coming into the UK this week. Blue_Joe - any news on your supplier as I have been offered a Group Buy on them from an In-Pro stockist - price TBA
  10. The hazards and indicators definitely use different relays, the relay on my Blue G60 worked loose once and the indicators stopped working, IIRC the relay is on the top row and is closest to the side of the car
  11. Mine arrived yesterday, just the fronts and have to say that they are now sitting in the bin - the fit is awful and I'm not prepared to have them on the car, I accepted I would perhaps need to trim the headlights as I have the Angel Eyes but the fog and indicator lenses are a really poor fit
  12. I had a JMR front mount fitted for 45,000 miles with no issues whatsoever, I did follow the advice of John though and have all the mounts replaced. Replacing just one is asking for trouble - you wouldn't replace just one spring or one brake disc would you!

    Fill in the Gaps

I would recommend Autoglym Machine Cleaner for the engine bay, spray on, agitate with a paintbrush and it will gleam, really good stuff for the alloys too.
  14. Don't rush in to buying the first one you see. The G60 I've just sold cost me the grand total of two tyres, set of discs and set of pads in 45,000 miles.
  15. The Liquid Leather comes in two bottles, one is a cleaner, the second is the conditioner. They also do leather dye that you can work into the cracks of the leather.
  16. Any of these are spot-on http://www.vertar.com/battery-chargers-conditioners/ I've had an OptiMate for twelve months and its been superb
  17. Now back from the paintshop after its bonnet re-spray, insisted that they blended properly into the front wings, absolutely top-class job. Fitted the black FK Angel Eyes and badgeless grille this morning, really pleased with the end result. Still can't believe how dirty it is, gone over it twice now with paint cleaner and still getting loads of crap off it, slapped a coat of polish on it afterwards and will wax it next weekend - at least it will keep it protected through the winter. Having the Eibach suspension fitted next week and the new wheels are sitting in the garage waiting to be fitted.
  18. Bought a gearbox a while go off E-bay but with everything thats been going on I totally forgot about it. Is there anyone who could pick it up for me and keep hold of it until I can collect it in early Jan. Cheers
  19. Solicitor was totally adamant - "Your fathers partner arrived with the death certificate, we gave her his will - nothing more to do with us" Looks like a trip to a solicitor is called for
  20. Fortunately we don't have kids that could get dragged into things. I spoke to the solicitors this afternoon and they were pretty clear - "Your dads partner picked up the wills - its now got nothing to do with us" My dad was walked over all of his life and if he was in this position he'd not fight it, he'd just accept it, smile and walk away - do I follow my dads example and take the moral high ground and rise above it or fight for what my dad (may) have left may in his will Moral dilemma, remember I hate conflict
  21. I have always had a sticky relationship with my dads partner, even though they were together for 21 years she always seemed to resent the fact that we were so close. In recent years we seemed to be getting on OK and when dad was diagnosed with his brain tumour in September we seemed to get closer, I certainly pulled out all the stops to be as supportive and understanding as possible. I feared the worst when he died, I was not consulted about the funeral arrangements, simply told the time and the place, I didn't make a fuss as I hate conflict. Last night I called her to see how she was and I decided the time was right to raise the subject of the will, I knew he'd made one - beginning to wish I hadn't bothered now. I was accused of being totally mercenary and told not to worry, it had all been sorted, she'd been left everything. She said there was no way I can look at the will as she is the executor and she decides who can and can't see it. Out of the goodness of her heart she said she will send me a cheque for £100 from his (now transferred to her name) bank account and after Christmas I can go round there and pick one of two momentos out of his Jaguar model car and book collection. My dad had previously told me that the house would be transferred to her when he died but her will would then leave the house to myself and her daughter - seems strange that when she picked up my dads will from the family solicitors she also took her own will out as well (!!!!) Being so totally excluded from everything has left me feeling totally shellshocked - its not the will (although it does seem a bit dodgy), its the blatant disregard that I may have at the very least liked to have been kept up to speed on what was happening. Wife is telling me to meet her head on and stand my ground, I'm thinking of telling her to keep the lot, I've got 39 fantastic years of memories that she can't take from me

    BMW M3

I drove a friends M3 quite frequently, he sold it after 6 months as it was so boring to drive - to have fun you had to be driving at stupidly high speeds. Theres plenty of other cars I'd have for the money

    new wheels

Mine are an obscure make (LNS) and never seen another set, just wanted something a bit different
  24. I didn't realise they were only for the later cars - suppose its saved me some money
  25. Money has started to be spent on the bus. Been in for smart repairs on the back bumper and a couple of paint chips today, booked in for a bonnet respray next week. Black FK headlights, debadged grille and Eibach springs and shocks arrived today so will be sitting 40mm lower in a week or so. Ordered a few internal bits and pieces, all OE to brighten up the interior and just placed an order for a set of 18" Nuvolari alloys. Incredibly comfortable on a long journey, pulls like a train from 800 rpm in 5th - very torquey
