Looks lovely! Very jealous you're going to make the summer months... mine is now looking like a huge job, so I might just make the tail end if I pull my finger out :(
-
Anyone fitted a Dave16V shifter? - I'm just having a look around on what to upgrade.
-
I'd be interested too! - unfortunately my car is off the road too so I cant off a test-bed :(
-
There's a set on eBay... But ouch! £75!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Corrado-VR6-G60-16v-etc-headlamp-headlight-protector-shields-/282459087602?hash=item41c3dfa2f2:g:LSAAAOSwjL5ZCk9B

Nice! I was thinking about vented rears from a 4Motion Mk4 golf or TT - but I want to keep the car looking original and I dont think it will fit with 15" wheels :(
-
Hi Hasan... I seem to remember it was used after welding for corrosion protection, I'm going to try and find it if its still available... it was great stuff and made the manifolds look like new castings and not painted. With my engine out day fast approaching I'm going to need some ;)
-
Hi Cluffy - yeah it really was good stuff... I'll try and find it again, I'm not a big fan of powder coating mainifold etc... like you I'm a bit more of an OEM look, to make it smooth I think you would have to sand it down. Pristine wheels are apparently very good, I've not used them but probably will when I get to the wheels ;) http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk/

Years ago when I worked in a panel shop we used to have an aluminum spray that we used to spray on bare metal prior to or after welding I seem to remember... it was something like 99% pure aluminum or something like that, I sprayed all my inlet manifold and other ali bits on my MK2 GTI with that and it looked fantastic.... I really want to find that again... came in a dark red/burgandy can if anyone remembers? - could be worth looking for something like that if you want the stock look for your manifold?

Well the manual conversion is rolling! :D Just ordered the clutch from GSF - cheers for the weekend code Dox - fantastic price ;)
-
Cool they say its a Luk or Sachs...
-
I did look at GSF - they only have the clutches listed as 'Vetech' and 'premium' so I wasnt sure exactly what I would be getting... like you suggested earlier I was thinking Luk. Not really sure on the budget - I intend to keep the car so a few extra pennies here and there wont be a huge worry... how much is Daves shifter... I've round short shifts to be notchy in the past. Yeah had a read up on the 3.68 diff and it does seem to be a good idean - yep been reading Redbourbons thread, pretty considerable power hike...
-
How about this for the clutch kit? http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1993/p/car-parts/clutch-and-associated-parts/car-transmission/clutch-kit/?641440660&1&f0689e9db4476e7c09328db0c913953265431a57&000069

ok sounds interesting... is the 16v diff strong enough to handle the VR6 ok? Does the VR lump respond to lighen and balance? - I was just thinking if I have the engine out :s
-
I'm about to start on an auto to manual conversion so will be needing these parts... years ago we just used to replace the seals in master cylinders... is this not possible with these ones?
-
Hi Dox Any pointers on the 20J mod? I've got no idea what it is :( I was thinking about a lightened flywheel.... would it be better to get the bottom end ballanced at the same time... I remember it made a huge difference to my Golf GTI's many years ago... how well does the VR lump respond to balancing and lightning? And the 3.65 diff? advantages? Also can anyone recomend a clutch brand? I guess the main dealer part is long gone?
-
Can you replace the seals in them?
-
http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?96213-2017-Headlight-Switch-group Could be worth a look. ;)
-
Cheers Adrain... hmmm yeah I was wondering that.... mine are still all there, but look a bit weatherd... just curious why did you replace yours?
-
Hmmm yeah I could need some of these...
-
Cheers all - Chris is now on the case ;) fingers crossed - if anyone thinks of anything else I'd really appreciate a heads up.... or if they're passing my way and want to lift a 6 pot out of the front of the car I'd appreciate that to! LOL! :D

Looks very clean thou - the sort of condition I'm hoping for mine. Picked mine up in January - done a lot to it, all the interior has been out and wet valeted as it was covered in mildew, sunroofs, windscreens had a fair few adventures already... just about to start the biggest one thou... auto to manual conversion.. I bought it with a blown gearbox and the auto is eyewateringly expensive to repair... so manual it is, yeah its very straight which is what attracted me to it.. 2 owner car and pretty much unmolested and all there.
-
Ahhh ok - are they still available new?
-
Just seen your thread... really nice looking car you have there! Mine was a driveway rescue too but a tad more neglected unfortunately so taking longer than I thought to get back into shape :( http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r94/Geebaphoto/IMG_20170113_153239.jpg' alt='IMG_20170113_153239.jpg'>
