1. I have my old ones but as I'd bought all new door/boot seals I was trying to get new if possible......thanks
2. I like the sound of that option, any idea if that was the first or second new beetle?
3. Listed as discontinued on VW Heritage and Classic Parts.de, I thought I had found one in the States but that seems to be a blind alley. There must be some kicking about that people will never use???
4. Looking for a left side outer window scraper seal in readiness for the car coming out of the paint shop next week, anybody have one laying around???
5. Once again it has been an age between updates, almost two years this time during which my car has sat in the corner of the paint shop. Suddenly there's action and it's coming home next weekend
6. Don't suppose you still have both do you, what condition if you have them?
7. Happy new bike. Looks like Jeffries, got my GSA from there a few Christmases and 45,000 miles ago, still going strong, can't go wrong with a Beemer! Roll on the good weather, I was out on mine yesterday to fetch the turkey and avoid traffic, rather damp!
8. Wish mine hadn't been nicked off the grille now!
9. Blue H reg G60 on A63 west out of Hull yesterday. Looking good, made me jealous mine is still in the paint shop!
10. I bodged an old Mk4 Golf seat into mine to take it into the paint shop while my interior is re-trimmed. It was an easy cut and weld job as you suggest but as others say they sit too high in the car to be of any use......look elsewhere!
11. In addition to all the ones Chris has from Summer 96 to March 2001 I have issue number 1 from April 96, it is however simply two double sides of A4 stapled together in one corner! I also have: June 2001 (Issue 19) August 2001 (Issue 20) October 2001 (Issue 21) December 2001 (Issue 22) February 2002 (Issue 23) May 2002 (Issue 24) July 2002 (Issue 25) September 2002 (Issue 26) November 2002 (Issue 27) I can scan them and send them to you Jim, you'll soon regret offering to upload them!
12. Don't know for sure about the Mk1 as we have a Mk2 TT but if it's like every other VAG we've owned the water issue is more about getting it to drain out rather than stopping it getting in..........There should be a small drain hole in the bottom of the rubber fuel tank surround, it's probably blocked up with years of crud. Bit of a prod and poke and all should be OK!
13. I'll take the other please, PM me some details and I'll paypal you the money.......thanks
14. Merry Christmas everyone!
15. He doesn't post very often these days but the words of wisdom when he does are priceless!
16. Another vote for Koni, mine have been fitted since 2000 and have done around 80,000 miles. Recently bought new springs for them and had the dampers serviced/dynoed with no problems. I have a standard pair of wipers kicking around the garage too if you need them!
17. Mine arrived today, just need the car out of the body shop now! Thanks for sorting this out EM :thumbleft:
18. I'll take the Corrado rear badge, how much with postage? PM me payment details and I'll sort out. Thanks
19. Congratulations on passing your bike test, take care out there! I've had a bike license over 33 years now, passed it a few months before the car and still prefer two wheels over four. I currently ride a BMW R1200GSA for commuting nine or ten months of the year (only leave it at home when there's a chance of deep white stuff) and touring, we rode 3,500 miles in three weeks last year going to Greece and back!
20. I used to work in Italy a lot and love driving there! You take it steady and follow the "rules of the road" and everyone's blowing their horns and waving fists at you so you get your foot in and do a few U turns without indicating and suddenly you're treated like a local, it's hilarious! Been through there on the motorbike the last couple of years too and felt safer than I do on the M25.
21. Payment sent. Thanks for sorting this out Emma!
22. Another vote for body shop glue and tar spot remover. Wipe it on and leave it to soak for a few minutes then scrape/peel off the whole gooey mess. Mine came from the local trade paint place in a 5 litre container, great stuff for shifting all sorts of glues.
23. 850 sounds a little optimistic maybe. I spoke to MJ a couple of months ago, he quoted me 1700 for all seats and door cards. Not taken them in yet so I can't comment on the finish but as soon as I get an idea of when my car's coming out of the paint shop I'll be dropping them off with him, all the work I have seen looks impressive.
24. I've got the wiper and spoiler mechanisms plus lights, interior trim, plinth etc stripped from the tailgate at the moment.........it almost takes your nose off when you push the button!
25. I only realised who you were just before we went our separate ways. Remember the musing about sinking the centre brake light into the tailgate so it sits flush? Well I spoke to the guy doing the bodywork today and he's up to the challenge so we'll see if he can't make something a bit original. I tend to work away through the week but plan to try and get regular Saturday photos of progress from the body shop, must try to keep my gallery more up to date! Not booking a place yet but plan to make the stand at Stanford Hall next year.
