  1. Try Plusgas over WD40, its like night and day for freeing things off. Sounds like just things seizing up due to lack of use, I wouldn't expect much else after being sat for that long if it hadn't been started in that time. You get some oil additive to help free tappets so run that for a while then change out the oil.
  2. The thing with the 24v is it produced a lot more torque low down in the rev range. Look into the racelogic traction control or some stickier tyres before considering 4wd.
  3. Sorted now folks, managed to get a set of 17in RC's with tyres. Forgot how light they are for the size!!!
  4. I had a Highline Golf VR6 and it was RR at 195bhp, completely standard and benchmarked against a couple of others so I quite believe they might have closer to that.
  5. Its pretty much bang on what I was looking for, I dare say I paid more for one with more miles and no chain work. Ah well.
  6. I'll look that up. Looks pretty much identical to mine now. I do like the red calipers and Im not going any bigger brake wise for that very reason that you can fit original wheels.
  7. Nice, was this RogerChatfields?
  8. Good timing, I've survived so far but it's still gloomy.
  9. Cool, still in Aberdeen?
  10. 140k on my current one. No engine work done in the past to speak off.
  11. Snap, grooved only if your going on track. Plain discs are more than good enough and you don't eat pads. Avoid drilled, they crack. Even the proper Porsche ones that have the holes cast in them (rather than drilled afterwards) crack at some point.
  12. More info on these please.
  13. How quickly do you need them? Thinking of ordering some coils so my H&R's will be up for sale if I do. They would come with Koni T/A front as well and rears but one is leaking.
  14. It is total piece of mind, Ive looked at it a lot over the last few years especially for the main family car. To be fair these days its hard to buy a newish car that is bad, there all at a good level especially for a daily runner.
  15. Wait until you come to trade it in....lol
  16. Do they come with dust seals?
  17. Maybe to remove the wheel well to add in flat floor / rear diffuser/ splitter.
  18. How much again? Maybe folks are waiting to fit them, you have to drop exhaust to do it don't you?
  19. Springs are fitted on mine already so what ever was needed is there. Id like to lower by another 10mm or so and have these blue spring plates so was just wondering if they will be any different from the early versions that most people seems to use with the H&R.
  20. Id ip the caliper off. Could be sticking or issue with pad material.
  21. Does anyone have dimensions of the said VR6 plates and if you use the larger dia earlier plate does that not mean the front sits a bit higher than if the late plate was used? I have some Jom plates that look like late VR plates are said to lower 10mm and was looking to see if they would work with the H&R springs I have. The ones I have are as shown in this thread half way down in blue - http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?7814033-Strut-top-mount-GAP
  22. Vw ones look much better IMO.
  23. So new brakes fitted and fitted the VW blue/chrome wheel caps.
  24. See Im not so into the old air cooled stuff. I like it an a retro way but wouldn't own one I think. Too slow... The T5 is ace but its more of what it can do for me. It get used and abused by the kids!!!
