oh,so it's normal and not something i did then?!! -
i think he's spent. :) Mr riot no joy?

Hi Steve. Yeah I have run the same setup till now. Currently built my engine up with a golf one because I decided I wanted to return to the OE heat exchnager.... Something to think about. thnks.
-
slight tangent.. so if you fit a mocal you'll have to run without the water to oil cooler due to the lack of clearance?
-
oh yes the audi,i was stripping things of of it with wanton abandonment. As i said mate all your doing is gripping the base of the dizzy with a set of mole grops and turning. Not really possible to break anything. Worked a treat freeing mine up,and mine still had the tamper proof seal on there so it had not been moved since it had come from the factory.
-
ignore him mate. :) i did break a dizzy but not by doing that. Can't remember what I was doing tbh.
-
u give up real easy. :) get a set of mole grips and clamp them on the neck of the dizzy to give you some leverage. It will budge eventually. Your nearly home.

the holes don't line up and I think the hose dimensions are different too :confused4: . I fancy a g60 aircon unit but don't fancy the VAG prices. :( -
Ok... :)

do these engines have an idle screw on the throttle body?
-
parcel2go.com ftw
-
are you sure you havn't introduced an air leak somewhere? easy to miss something when putting everything back.. Throttle cable set correctly?
-
I think you'll find that turning the distributor clockwise will retard the timing. The rotor arm inside the dizzy is turning clockwise so you want to move the contacts on the cap further away at any given moment making the spark later........... my bad. always best to verify with a timing light tho.

it is in the sense that you don't want any. -
ok,from reading your original post most people would assume that you haver your engine was all timed up sat at tdc etc b4 rotating the engine. You said that If your pistons are all sat halfway down the bores it could be that one or more of your tappets are not sat properly in their bores and are locked in place. Best to take the cams off and make sure they are all sat in there properly.
-
???? If the cams are in the the valves will hit the pistons and stop it rotating. You need to time it up properly with the cam belt on and then turn the engine around.
-
Only do it if u willl have the money to get another charger soon afterwards. Otherwise there is no point. It would be silly.
