  1. Cheers guys- going through insurance (luckily we've both got protected no claims), and will try to get the excess back from Gloucester City Council. Everyone I've spoken to about it knows this cattle grid! And as for the AA...
  2. Kenc, not that much worse on fuel, to be honest :) Big difference in the drive  Bally, thanks matey! Went out for a walk on Crickley Hill, Cheltenham yesterday. Went over a cattle grid on the way home (slowly!). Great big scraping sound- we thought the bumper had scraped on it, as the grid had a big dip in the middle. Stopped to look... Bumper broken in half, all undertrays shattered, arch-liner ripped out, nearside wing pulled out, rad broken etc etc! Absolutely gutted  This was at around 4.30pm. Phoned AA- they put us on priority because we had Dan with us. They arrived at... 7pm! Freezing cold, dark, baby well past bedtime and teatime- he was absolutely frantic, bless him. Unbelievable. Anyway, here's some nice pics for y'all :(
  3. Hi guys, need to return an item to Jimmi. Can't get in touch, and I deleted it by mistake. Can someone PM it to me please- there must be a few who've bought stuff off him recently. Cheers!
  4. Terrible news :( Let's hope they catch them! As others have said, at least you guys are OK, no one hurt etc. Have some fun looking for a new car (what about a MK2 GTI?).
  5. I wouldn't drill- just remove the snorkel and put a cold air feed from the left side of the grille (cut a hole in the plastic panel) to the snorkel hole.
  6. It's a lush colour! Liking the pics with the H Coupe- reminds me of Herbie and his girlfriend following each other around
  7. Blackberry is such a nice colour! 8)
  8. That's shitty! Yep, must be someone in the VW community who knows what they're after :(
  9. Nice! That second pic is very familiar- was it up on the Yahoo e-group ages ago?

    Coolant Sensor

No worries- let us know how you get on :)

    yellow fogs

AFAIK, the ARZ ones are oem French, so they're the real deal.
  12. blue95, that looks great :)

    yellow fogs

    Think http://www.arz-tuning.de do them too.
  14. I've got an Octavia vRS, with the 1.8T engine, and mpg is pretty good really. With normal driving on the way to work I normally see around 32-34mpg. On longer journeys though, I see 36-39 :) When driven hard it still manages late 20's.
  15. That's terrible news :( Hope you find it, and they get theirs! Scum. Keep us posted.
  16. 1.8T is extremely tuneable, V6 sounds lovely... difficult choice! If you want the extra power potential of the 1.8T, go for that. If you're not too fussed about the big bhp, go for the V6- smoother drive.
  17. That rings a bell- is it from the top of the oil filter?

    Coolant Sensor

If it's the blue coolant temp sensor, make sure you get a new seal for it. Pull out the old one, and whack the new one in as quickly as you can to prevent too much coolant loss. No need to drain the system, although get yourself a bottle of G12+ to top up what you lose. It's situated at the front right of the engine, just below the front of the manifold. There are 3 sensors in a row on the stat housing. Unplug the electricals, and hook them out of the way. Remove the securing clip located above each sensor- mine is a greenish colour (just pull up and off), and then simply pull it out. Have the new one ready to go, so you don't lose too much coolant. You can also get it much cheaper than that from AVS, ECP or GSF ;)
  19. Yeh, he's now selling G60 & 16v grille badges with a start price of £30 too...  You can still get the red grille/rear badges, and the rear chrome ones from the dealers. The chrome grille badge is obsolete though :( I got a repro from http://www.arztuning.de for around £14. It's very good quality and fits perfectly. They also do repro chrome Corrado scripts, which are also obsolete.
  20. JMC, any pics? Would be good to see them actually on the car.
  21. Nice work, Andy :) I'll be up for a 2x2 dipper when I'm a bit more flush ;) Defo think it's a good idea to make them as plug and play as possible- I for one wouldn't be happy soldering etc!
  22. Looking good, Boj. Liking those sill covers :)
  23. Thanks to Nikki (M15VW) for a few bits recently, Jimmi for some clocks (and then agreeing to take them back when they didn't sort out the spoiler prob) and zerocool for the plug lead tool. Cheers guys! :)
  24. Rob, your car always looks soooo damn clean! 8) Actually prefer it on the Speedies!
