  1. congrats m8, good to hear its got a new ticket :)
  2. hopefully within the next few weeks m8 I managed to fit the new matrix in the valver a week or so ago & the feed & return hoses arrived this week so fingers crossed I will have heat in it by the end of the weekend that would then mean I can drive the valver to work & frees up the VR to take the seats out to refurb I have to say I am very pleased indeed with the result steering wheel refurb produced also, IIRC, easy pops has not long done his cream leather using the glyptone suff
  3. nice. like the colour & the plate make yourself at home :)
  4. probably why they get whooped by their much older brother the Escort RS Cosworth ;) PMSL
  5. cracking! I wonder what the actual agreed price was brilliant to see a rado potentially going for strong money we should all follow suit lol
  6. no problem fella I try to favourite a page when I read it & it sounds useful lol oh & keep us posted if you try the fix or get someone to try it :)
  7. mine is the same as yours chuggs the mechanism always works using the manual winder but often sticks when trying to use the button but I know the button works as if I tilt manually most of the way & then try the button it springs to life & opens the remaining little bit - most annoying as with you this makes my thoughts point towards the motor however!! I know that the guy I brought the VR off had a brand new sunroof cartridge installed not long before I brought the car off him. FYI ive looked at the plastic coating of the runner channel & they don't seem to have worn through very much like you normally see plus, I am fairly sure it has had a replacement motor as the one that is currently in there has a small yellow painted dot on it. I believe breakers often put those dots on to identify they are a used part the post I mentioned is this one m8 :D http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?87879-Sunroof-motor-brushes&highlight=sunroof+motor
  8. there is indeed a specific grease Rob - it is a silicone based one I got mine from here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SILICONE-GREASE-silicone-grease-TRANSPARENT-FOR-SUNROOF-SEAT-GUIDE-HINGES-0-2lbs-/321873606650?hash=item4af12977fa
  9. can of worms m8 there is a guide on here about stripping the sunroof motor & the fact that the bushes within it wear out & cause the motor not to function properly sunroofs are a bit of a dark art - VW stopped producing the repair kit many of us could make use of & lots of people swap out the rado one for a moon roof from a Passat or others my VR sunroof for example will sometimes work when I press the tilt button but sometimes not. plus if it doesn't respond to the button press i open up tilt manually, once it is mostly tilted the bl00dy thing works the rest of the way when the button is pressed - what the hell!? lol this makes me think that the sliders etc & actual sunroof mechanism are ok, plus I know the sunroof buttons work - as they do work when they feel like it which makes me think that it is either the slider mechanism is producing enough resistance to make the motor not work (I have read that the motors have a cut out function to stop them burning out) or the motor itself is playing up somehow for the time being however I came up with an interim solution - I drilled a hole out of the plastic sunroof motor cover so I can always easily access the allen key winder there is a thread on here about reproducing the sliders & the parts that tend to break but it may be a long term thing I wonder if Heritage or Thursdave on here could pressure those responsible for classic part to make the repair kits again
  10. Mic that is awesome! cracking pic sean_jaymo love the way it looks like you are leading the rest of the bunch around :D
  11. it looks like it just needs the raised end of the copper to be slotted back into the square hole next to it - maybe
  12. interparcel offer very good rates I had a set of 4 speedline wheels collected from somerset & shipped up to west midlands for under £45 IIRC
  13. I think my previous post was written more with my business head on and was only really comparing what costs would be if a mechanic was charging to do the work & often thus making the task unfeasible having read the above Jim, I have to say, though I may be contradicting myself a little, that I agree with your main sentiment. the program does indeed show that many jobs can be tackled at home & also does inspire people to try, myself included as im damn sure I want to use that Wurth kit to repair the front spoiler & get the valver back to how it should be I also like the way the way that Ed explains what he does & why
  14. I understand the point you are making Jim but for most 'home mechanics' to kit out their garage with even a fraction of the tools he has & uses would cost an absolute fortune. never mind the cost of the ramp a prime example would be the episode where he repaired a BMW front bumper due to cracks. the Wurth kit he used for the repair is over £200 just for the kit. add onto that all the filler/primer/stone guard/paint & it would have probably cost not much less for a replacement bumper that said - I am pleased they did that episode as thanks to Goldie on here I now have an original Kamei front spoiler for the valver but it needs a repair similar to what Ed undertook. I wonder if I asked very nicely if he would lend me his Wurth kit to do my repair LOL I think they could/should do a best of both worlds & include estimated costs for the jobs to be done if someone was paying for them - that could please all then
  15. a good point me & the gf have often discussed Mark if Ed put his labour on top they would always be making a huge loss, even if he did it at a discounted rate imagine the total bill if he was charging say £50 per hour!! & that is way cheaper than many mechanics do you have a family member or close friend who has sky m8? they might be nice enough to lend you their SkyID - all you need to log in to sky go ;)
  16. sky go allows you to stream it too Jim that's how I watch the sky F1 races :)
  17. chugs that looks superb! remind me of your shock/spring combo again? they are fixed height aren't they, so would they drop much more? it is so rewarding once new & good suspension is fitted, glad you are enjoying how is the rest of your running gear? rear beam bushes specifically? I found that once I had those replaced as well the feel through the seat was very much more cushioned
