Yes, and if VW had gone for the 16VG60 instead of the VR nobody could say it was nose heavy and we'd still have five stars in Evo magazine. :bad-words: maybe....but then we wouldnt get to listen to the glorious sound of the VR!!!! ive said it once & i will say it again.....bring on the grins as the VR sings!!! :luvlove:

If that bothered get the wheels right (as above Solitudes I think) and then buy 2 badges for pennies and you pretty much have a Storm anyway...
-
it does help to give lots of info.....if only to avoid the funnies lol dragon green & cream leather match the storm but without badges [1 on rear & 1 by the gear stick trim] & if the speedlines were original then i doubt it is, storms came with the solitudes i think UK spec rado VR6's were 2.9 ABV but the US used the 2.8 AAA lump....i believe :) even if it aint a storm why worry  there is no technical specification difference.....just badges really incoming on the ever lasting storm debate ha ha ha

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
g0ldf1ng3r replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
yesterday on my vr6 i mostly did.... dropped oil out of it & replaced with some lovely silkolene ProS from oilman....thanks..... new spark plugs, thanks to zerocool 4 the plug lead removal tool.....it was diamond!!!.... new filters, oil & air.... & a general good look over as it was the 1st time i have had it in the air on the ramps since i brought it..... which produced the 'to-do' list.... radiator had a pink stripe of crud on it, as too did the header tank & thermostat so am thinkin maybe best to replace all...if anyone readin this has any advice about this i would be appreciative :) off side steering rack gaitor was suspsect so both sides will be done.... & that was it, well apart from the leakey rear shock i knew about but im planning on kw v1's to sort that  not too bad but methinks painful on the wallet lol -
was near evesham in my m8s golf gti & spotted a red H reg valver....i think....only saw the nice arse end :)
-
our sadness 4 your great loss mand, im sure she will be sorely missed but at least she has gone to a good home :) as 4 me.....i had my white valver for about 5 yrs & have now had my VR about 6 months  i will not make the mistake i made with the valver, im NEVER sellling my VR  as per the signature.....bring on the grins as the VR sings!!!!
-
boo hoo hoo!!!! i have literally yesterday received my silkolene proS yesterday, having ordered at the old prices on tuesday :pale: delivery was fast but seeing this post makes me wish id waited another few days.....or my ESP had worked & told me there would be a further discount 3 days later
-
ha ha ha & i thought i had confused myself with all the reading of the suspension thread :gag: i can see im in for some setup fun & games when i make the plunge for the kw v1s......never mind the fun & learning when trying to fit em!! pmsl
-
new bolts from veedub will cost u a couple of quid, the old 1s should be replaced anyway, & as mentioned u can use the new bolt to match up the allen socket :)
-
i ordered new bolts from vw when i did my front calipers & then took it in to the local parts palce to get the size match on the allen key socket 4 the ratchet.....worked a treat
-
the bentley bible lists the following for the engine code PG cam follower lubricate contact surface do not interchange check camshaft axial play before installing install with contact surface down hope that helps :)
-
sorry i cant help but i will be interested in this thread as im on the verge of ordering some KW V1s thus tryin to get as much info as possible as gona fit them myself :help: lol
-
worth noting indeed kevhaywire & thank u for taking the time to post as well i guess, as with anything of this nature, it will take a bit of test/change/test/change to get it 'right' but the help on here has helped reenforce the kw's are the choice :) you say 'with all the coilovers ive used' - can i ask what you use at the moment & ur thoughts on them?
-
I cant argue with that, as i was one of them. Never looked back either, yes they're harder then springs/shocks but i dont notice nor mind it now. Oh and DONT get cheap coilovers, i had some cheapo v-maxx and compared to the KWs they were hell to drive on, bouncy and really hard at the same time, the rebound was terrible on them, they took a while to settle down after bumps - just for the record  all in all it sounds like the kw's are the 1s to go for then :) I fully understand your advice about cheap alternatives, thanks,as many who have opted to save cash have not been happy with the result......which is the last place I wana be lol can I ask,did u fit your kw's yourself? from what I can understand people say it's not a hard job & thanks to your advice & my Reading I think I know what I need to purchase prior to attemting install but I am a little concerned about what's needs doing once the kit is actually on? I know tracking will but not sure if any other geometry will be effected?
-
Ha sorry, i misread the question actually. If its minimal drop you're after, are you sure you dont want to just stick to springs/shocks. Koni TA and H&R springs are a highly recommended combination by the folks on here. 40mm drop. no worries, i am grateful 4 ur reply :) i had consindered the koni & H&R route but having read many pages of this thread there did seem to be a trend with some people changing their koni/h&r setup for the kw's my main concern is the performance of the suspension & car in terms of handling, the last thing i want is a detremental effect - hence wanting a minimal drop as possible :) i wonder if the boys at stealth would mind me picking their brains? lol
-
thanks 4 the reply critical_mass :) i think i ballsed up up my description 2 begin with tho, was trying to find out the KW max ride height? ie i want to lower as little as possible? im hoping for a handling improvement :) excellent advice RE the bump stops; i didnt know they were included in the KW kit, thanks fully understand about the ARB upgrade, i had considered it but the leaky rear strut has meant the funds need to be shifted to suspension lol in addition, does any1 have any fitting tips/ setup experience? ie caster, camber etc & how much the new KW's will need tweaking once fitted? again, thanks in advance for replys - experience is golden!!
-
advice from those who have or have used KW V1's please :) ive read thru pages & pages of this thread & think my mind is getting somewhere near a big spend but i was hoping those with experience could help a little my vr6 is still on its factory suspension & a rear strut now has more than a leak :( thus the wallet must be hurt im thinking kw v1's, tho who knows how im gona finance them, but i'm unsure of a few details....can anyone tell me.... what is the minimum drop they can be set at? how much bump stop clearance is there when set a minimum drop? do you see a reduced body roll & increase in driving prowess? apart from the kit itself, what else is recommended on replacing when fitting as im planning on attempting myself? [im sure ive read somehting about top strut bearings & VW mentioned rear bump stops!?] thanks in advance Oh & if anyone knows where they can be found at good prince pls link me up :)
