I hate car parks!!! - 30th Nov Happy ending update!!
g0ldf1ng3r replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in General Car Chat
A quick update on this & im pleased to say it has happy ending!!! With a little bit of investigation work, checking cameras & inspecting cars in the car park & a little luck i have managed to work out & prove which car had caused the scrape & dent :D Whilst on lunch today i noticed that the car which had reverse parked into the space next to me last tuesday had a suspect area on the edge of the drivers door. I took a closer look & it was obvious that door had come into contact with mine.....there was even a small fleck of blackberry paint still stuck to said door!!! Just to be sure, before i approached the colleague who owned the vehicle, i got a tape measure & checked the distance from floor to scrape on my door & then again on the other car - both matched at 63cm!! GOT THE FECKER!!!!!! :D lol I have since spoken with the work colleague, i raised it in as nice a way as possible, & they have apologised & said they had not noticed it had happened. We agreed, very ammicably i must add, that i should get some quotes & they will look at paying the cost rather than go the insurance route. Thus, as im sure you can guess, i am pleased to have figured this out & will be even more happy once the mark & dent are no more......& i havent got to pay for it!!! :D -
How do Paul - was your tire update the only thing needed then?

advanced apology for additional hijack..... Just a little heads up that there is a classic car meet in alcester (not far from stratford-upon-avon or henley) on boxing day There should be an eclectic mix of VW's & other classics & im going to try & get a few rado's there ;) I will put a new thread up when have more info

Hi Grim1 & anyone that might be interested When i used to have my 1.8 16v rado i was able to buy bridgestone SO2's & SO3's - the former of which were by far the best tire i have ever used on 1 of my own cars. The SO3 was extremely close to the performance & durability of the SO2 but the SO2 was a little better in the wet (as you could barely tell the difference between wet or dry on that tire even when pushing hard) I was pleased to see bridgestone had reintroduced a 15" tire & having had them on the front for several months now i can happily say i was not disappointed!! The RE002 is excellent in the dry - i very often take my rado for a spirited run around the cloverleaf in redditch, which is a mecca for crazy motor bike riders to get their knee down & my 70mph dual lane playground (if you have never heard of it take a look on google!!!), & can confidently say they are damn close to SO3 performance They are also brilliant in the wet - you can only marginally tell there is slightly less grip but you have to really push them to get to that point & with normal driving they give a great feeling of confidence in grip levels. They also cope very well with being able to pretty much plant the power down in 2nd in the wet - something which an avon would just spin up on in the VR I had fun testing the above during yesterdays torrential downpours & was impressed as always lol ;) Personally, i will not be purchasing any other tire than the RE002 for my VR unless bridgestone decide to bring the SO3 or a similar higher performer back in a 15" I should also mention that the service i received from the guy at event tires was awesome & extremely quick - he had both new front tires on before i could even make him a cuppa!! much less painful than going to those horrid tire fitter cowboy places!! As for wear rate - all i can say at present is that they are lasting much better than a cr4ppy avon zv blah de blah & i have recorded the mileage when fitted so as i can tell exactly how long they lasted :D -
Im over in Ipsley m8 so not far away. Cool, hopefully when we get a nice day on a wkend we can meet at the abbey stadium or somehwere. I know another rado owner off here too so i will try & get him there as well :D

sounds like a good idea peebee! during the warmer months there is a classic car meet i go to in alcester with my friend who runs http://www.vantasialtd.co.uk a camper van hire & restoration company i know another member of the forum on here who is in redditch too & oddly enough is a lad i went to school with & there was a newbie post from another redditch person today who is looking to buy a rado maybe we can have a little 'ditch' meet ;) lol

Hello there m8 Another potential Corrado in redditch, love it!! Lots of good info from others on here so far - my 10 pence worth would be that the sound of the VR6 progressing from purr to grumble to growl to downright roar makes me grin from ear to ear every single day!! You are welcome to meet up & take a look at my blackberry VR if you want m8 & ive too much to type on here in terms of maintenance/part replacement recommendations ;)

Thanks for you sympathies! It is so painful when people have such little respect for other peoples property! Yes ok its only a small ish mark but i spent a pretty penny on the paintwork only 2 years ago....fuming i am :( anyway, ive had a quick look round the cars in the car park today & cant see any offenders - i might ask the boss if i can send a mail around here is a pic for you - sorry about quality, it was raining & horrid here this morning -

bridgestones are available once again in that size from event tires online, who fit at your home or work, in the flavour of RE002 & around £90ea finally no more avon or similar ****e!!! & the service i had from the event fitter was superb & took less than 20 mins for 2 tires :D -
What a joyful start to the morning today..... Walked out to car, which hadnt been used since i returned from work last night, & thought 'hmmmm that looks odd on my passenger door!!??' Which was quickly followed by 'mother f***er!!!!!!!!' someone has taken a chunk of paint off my passenger door & its not a small mark either :( the only car park where i park next to other cars is my work one, im going to check the cctv shortly & see who was next to me as would you believe it that nobody mentioned it! this is the reason why when i use a public car park i park as far away as possible & at an angle rant over, kind of.....

Ahhh ok, over malvern way then. Im in redditch, the other side of worcester Glad you got it off to its destination!
-

Whilst filling up with V power in shirley today i had 4 separate people comment on my car, 1 said he was looking to buy himself one & loved the colour & another said he used to sell them back in the day at VW & how he always loved the VR6 I left the garage with a large smile indeed :D

those pesky 4*4's are the worst offender i feel as you get blinded by both rear view & wing mirrors when they are behind you!!! only last night i had to flick my rear view mirror down 4 times due to this issue.....grrrrr! however, i have found that since fitting one of KUR2Y's uprated looms & new bulbs i often get flashed when only on normal beam & can get my own back on the oncoming 4*4's when necessary ;) lol -
Ha ha brilliant!!!! ditched.com!!

Well would you believe it!! After all these years of Corrado ownership & only now i learn you can turn the god damn rear wiper OFF!!! PMSL Thank you forum members! I might actually use it now ;)

Reply to Human Joist - i forgot to click the reply with quote lol Hello mate Another rado in the ditch i didnt know about!! :D Only a couple of weeks ago i found out that an old school friend has a green storm & is on here too, bishbosh1 Ive not seen your flash red around but it would be good to have a look drop me a mail if you like & maybe we could all have a little meet ;) ---------- Post added at 10:06 AM ---------- Previous post was at 9:44 AM ---------- i can vouch for the superb quality & amazing improvement KUR2Y's loom provides & highly recommend them!!

Ive owned both a 1.8 16v & my current VR6 - which ive now had for 4 years In my opinion, & experience, the majority of the cost with regard to maintenance & parts wearing out is not engine related. Irrespective of engine flavour, unless the jobs have already been done (& to a good standard), it is likely you will need to: Replace suspension - a coilover kit is likely due to genuine vw parts being obsolete Replace all running gear - ball joints, tie rod ends, drop links, front wishbone bushes, rear beam bushes etc Replace radiator & potentially cooling system related items Repair & respray any tatty body work or as per my case rid the front end of the gravel rash of stone chips Engine work can be expensive on any size engine & thus go for the one that you really desire! That said......the sound of the VR6 is purely addictive & often i find myself not even turning my stereo on just so i can listen to it grow from a purr to a growl to a roar!! :D Oh, & whatever you decide make sure you get an uprated headlight loom off here from KUR2Y - the difference is astonishing!! ;)
