  1. tackled the water leak causing a puddle on the VR drivers footwell - update in build thread below http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?44751-g0ldf1ng3r-s-VR6-amp-1-8-16V&p=1101863#post1101863
  2. wooo hooo sunny weather weekends have finally begun!! 1st job to tackle in a day of no rain, even though it was rather chilly still......water getting into drivers footwell on the VR call it good fortune or bad but the heavy rain last week did produce a positive as well as a (negative) bloody puddle in the drivers footwell, such that I could see a very visible trickle line of water running down from where the bottom of the door meets the sill. in an area pretty much below the door speaker I should have taken a picture but I was too busy trying to dry it off some what for the journey to work lol with tools, disposable gloves, old towel to rest door card on & a cuppa in hand I thought best to heed the many posts & advice on here & take a look at the door membrane a few minutes later the door car was off & it seemed fairly obvious where the issue was more than likely coming from, see the first set of 4 pictures below, specifically picture 3 the main offender being quite a large hole by the first clip which the door card rests on. in all honesty I think it could have been partially my doing from when I changed my door speakers a while ago - though im mystified as to why it didn't produce a leak straight away if I had but the infinity kappa's were a bit deeper than the factory ones with a little jiggling & wriggling & gently scraping off some of the excess black sticky stuff to reuse in other areas I managed to get the membrane into somewhat of a more suitable state I added a strip or two of gaffa tape just to be sure but I did make sure that I put plenty of the black stuff around the door card clip previously mentioned & re-stuck the membrane, which fortunately was not missing any pieces the last 4 pictures are the after & I was very careful re-fitting the door card so as not to dislodge the repair work fingers crossed no more puddles but I will give it a test when I wash it after work one night this week
  3. very nice indeed!!! I like'y a lot'y
  4. lol Ive never heard of said valve let alone know how to direct you, sorry hopefully the might be a fellow US owner on here that can help you out good luck
  5. indeed great memories m8 I haven't taken it out of the box for so long I couldn't quite remember if there was anything missing other than the gun clip part I knew of. thus it was a nice surprise to see the red transparent film bit, which decodes a graph thing on the back of the box but also a little disappointing to not see the user manual thing however, I jumped on the buy it now button when I found the part being sold on its own last week having had a little browse on the bay the box condition is comparable to others out there so hopefully me finding that missing part has just jumped the value up quite a bit not that I plan on selling though as I already hugely regret selling the stack of marvel comics I had as a teenager, which included number 1 Hulk & Journey into Mystery number 38 (the first appearance of Thor) though they helped purchase my 1st car it pains me to even think about what they would be worth now!!
  6. apolgies to OP for butting in but I know from when I tried a couple of weeks ago that a standard sized ipod will not fit in a tray without cutting it up to remove the lugs that go through the tape cassette holes I think an ipod nano would fit but still be tight my one is in a 1990 early valver
  7. good result Ray my VR also got a fresh ticket last week with zero advisories - it is a good feeling isn't it :)
  8. you don't see many of these I had thought about selling the one in my valver but I quite like the retro look it gives I did have a look the other day to see if I could mod it to fit an ipod in one of the drawers but I would need a nano GLWS
  9. bloody rain - pre-emptive post with hope the sun is out on the weekend as I must get the drivers door card off the VR & tackle the membrane as had another puddle this morning & could see the trickle line coming from the bottom of the door
  10. not a rado related update but thought I would share as I was just a little excited last night after the arrival of a package in the post I have had the below in storage for many years now but it has always bugged me that I had lost one part somewhere, & it just had to be the easily lost & now very rare part having watched the values of others out there I would have the occasional hunt on the bay over the years but only only ever find the part I was missing listed on sales for complete items, until last week..... what once was lost is now found :D
  11. sorry m8 i ran out of time at the aquatics place as they didn't have any jumbo rats & i had to get them to make an order for some i will get the pic up tomorrow but yes either K or M i think K as i am pretty sure the blue with white stripe is the amp remote wire as i mentioned
  12. don't resist fella, the more the merrier lol my hands will be full in coming months, ive both bush & flap issue's to deal with this year :D
  13. or just lie on the floor whilst making the call - stop you falling off said chair that way lol
  14. very nice Jim! i have favourite that for later lol
  15. not sure jim all 3 in the range seem to have had a price increase in the past 5 years
  16. got it, im with you m8 & know the 2 blocks you mention the blue/white does indeed go via the power block ive got break at 15.00 & will try to pop the unit out & take a photo - though i do need to go & buy some snake food during break today as well EDIT - in the meantime this may help http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=225832
  17. sounds good be excellent to get someone else's direct comparison & thoughts :)
  18. that is a good price i think mine were £600 but that was nearly 6 years ago the £999 for V2's seems good - though the V3's are £50 cheaper at awesomegti ;)
  19. i suppose it would save you 150 notes for some new bridgestones if you used the Michelins but then if they are that new they could be sold on ebay maybe to recoup some money my VR had Michelin exalto's (i think) on it when i brought it but i only run RE002's now. from memory they were pretty good in the dry but definitely not as good as the RE002's in the wet. their performance seemed to drop a little as they wore down & the wear rate was faster than the bridgestone. i got nearly 16K out of the RE002's ive just taken off the front
  20. no danger m8 i can pull my soy out & have a look for you when you say block - is it block which connects the factory loom to the block that goes to the stereo & the location of the blue/white wire in that block? or the end which actually plugs into the back of the stereo
  21. no m8 they are a variety the coolant hoses differ in diameter & as such require different sized spring clamps if you have the OEM hoses currently with OEM clips it should be possible to reuse them however, as per VAG-hag mentions, i too have not personally experienced an issue with the product specific clips brought from roose
  22. might have been me m8 only issue with jubilee's was with the hose that connects to PCV - which OEM uses a one time crimp use clip rather than the constant tension clips on the other hoses
  23. my front drive is like the O.K. Corral many nights a week due to 3 cats that live in surrounding houses. their territory paths must crossover & we regularly hear then ripping chunks & fur out of each other. I try to scare them off to stop them hurting each other but also when they are around the feeders similar to the pigeons, I don't want to harm the cats but they are a nuisance. i did get a nerf gun but super soaker is the way forward i think lol plus I still cant quite figure out if all of the very fine scratches on my VR bonnet is from cat claws or not but it is covered
