Righty then, spent just a little over a day getting the radiator fitted needed a new radiator cowl but couldn't find one in good enough nick so have just tided the old one up apparently its the same part that goes on an s reg passat tdi 357121207F as that had twin fans too. Also spent the time cleaning up all the bits to go back on and took the opportunity to wax oil the front of the chassis all in all been a straight forward job just a load of the usual stuck bolts. Here is a link for the Hella radiator http://www.radiatorshop.net/products/volkswagen-corrado-29-i--vr6 £115 posted it comes from germany and not the uk so takes 2 days not 1, the guy selling them also phoned up to let me know this, cant say i was too fussed.

Great news jake, you have shown quite a bit of patience i'm sure its worth it.
-
I'd go with halfords you can knock them but generaly they don't put there name on complete junk.
-
Your right Pete it is quite straight forward but would take me more than 10 mins to do but then i don't i like to rush what i'm doing. I did a service on the car just before i installed the manifold to save removing it a few months later. Madjackal i would ask the current owner when the plugs were last changed might give you peace of mind for a bit, but really i wouldn't worry to much as the improvement the manifold makes, will out weigh the small amount of hassle with the spark plugs. Oh and a hella radiator it is VR6Pete! I looked at your thread and the great work you have done on the engine bay, i have 5 days off work soon so i will see what else i can get up to when i replace the radiator.

Didnt realise it was a quick fix feel a bit of a chump now! C will have to ne parked up now sure whole host of jobs will crop up for me to enjoy.

After sourcing some rather expensive oem fuel pipes for the vr to quell an escape of fuel, i thought i might be safe for a few weeks at least. NOPE Coming back from a wedding the radiator decided to leak, stopped of at a garage to use an emergency bottle of rad weld, low and behold it works. Now 2 weeks later the leak has sprung up again now my best bet is to replace with a new radiator found one for £114 not sure if you can get them any cheaper as seen others for well over £200! Having never done this on a vr before im unsure if the bumper and slam panel will have to come off to replace the rad if so an excuse for a bit of a tidy up on the unseen bits

Possible that was me although mines green has been mistaken for blue before! Was around lunch time you were in a golf?
-
Im biased when it comes to the colour, but you have your self a tidy looking motor enjoy!

I cut short the rubber pipe to the fuel filter and solved that problem, i want to replace the whole lot now just for peace of mind the two rubber pipes connecting to the fuel rail are still available and cost £95 genuine parts but hell thats expensive. The two hard pipes the blue and the black that run under the car are now obsolete does any one have a suitable alternative they would recommend?

If i were you id be patient and wait a year or two, i waited 10 years to get a vr6 and what i have is 12 years of driving experience (and still learning) insurance that is is less than a 10th of your quote. If you wait you will have cheaper insurance and in two years thats £7400 you will have paid on insurance which to me is £7400 you could spend on a bloody nice car, granted if you get something cheaper you will have to be paying for that. With regards to maintenance a 175k+ plus car is going to have issues unless well maintained,i had a gear box die on me, second hand box new clutch and fitting was around £500 it can happen to any car but these cost quite often come out of the blue. Not trying to put you off buying a vr, but one thing i know about cars is don't over stretch they have a habit of biting you in the arse, have a think plan what your going to do and what you can afford.

Going off to santa pod for the weekend and was about to wash the car then noticed strong smell off fuel, the fuel filter has a leak where the rubber has perished on the engine side of the filter. the soft rubber pipe that connects to the hard rubber pipe via a a metal sleeve is this all one part? Here is a picture of said pipe, i was planning on cutting it down first in the hope it would solve the problem. My concern is if i cant repair and the pipes cant be separated i will have to reroute the lot. Cheers Ben

i will be heading over on the friday, not to much there in the way of water cooled but a good atmosphere all the same.

nabbed one of these from ebay for £3 when i first bought my car after some use have found about a 1/4 of the pages are missing in different sections, a friend has found this as well so they aint that big a bargain! obviously they couldn't be bothered to scan all the pages personally its worth getting the big book.

Found this site earlier, it tells you what registration is on what car I think you have to subscribe to get the full history, but was surprised to find VR6 is on a sunbeam saloon and G60 is on a BMW X5. https://www.mycarcheck.com/check/options/VR6/

I have looked in the past with no luck so resorted to jubilee clips, would of thought a vw main dealer is worth a try! but if you find some let us know where.

Didn't realise the suspension made much of a difference to speed , great work on the cleaning especially the engine bay shows some real effort!!
-
I have taken a little out of the bonnet with a dremel not noticed any rubbing plus its still on standard engine mounts. The plastic tray i didn't think about did seem like something was missing will be going back in soon as i think the bug for tidying the engine bay is rubbing off on me, never bothered me before but after doing this install it seems worth the effort. Jake by all means next time our paths cross, its quite a difference considering the only other extra on the c is a milltec exhaust. Quite interested how it compares to a 24v when you get yours back, be an idea to have a meet at santa pod and see how they compare on the strip! This is all i had to take out the cuts are quite neat but needs painting.

Ok here's a couple

Spent near enough 7 hours doing the install few hold ups with stuck bolts also has a little clean up with some gunk and replaced the rocker cover gasket while i was at it. The online guides have been a real help, there is a few things i would do different but all in all its quite straight forward just a bit of planing. Soon as i left the drive within 20seconds had a big smile on my face such a worth while mod despite a little pricey, at one point i thought the car was in 3rd but nope 4th really has made a considerable change. I would say to anybody if you can get your greasy mits on one, have it.

Should be fitting the manifold tomorrow, that link helped i did get the right pipe i just didn't notice the two vacuum points 6 inches lower down they are hidden behind the clump of wires next to the coil pack.
-
I have used the dark grey paint for the vents under the windscreen came up a treat, as long as there is no drips it really does look like new rather than just sprayed.
-
Cheers Bud its polished up well and all. just dont seem to be able to find any sort of diagram for the vacuum hoses which is a pain.
-
Just got my hands on a schrick manifold courtesy of Swompy, spent some time cleaning it up getting new gaskets, got my head round the install but have found conflicting info on how to attach the vacuum reservoir . Any one in the know give us a shout, i was under the impression you cut in a T junction on the larger pipe connecting to the right hand side of the manifold. Where im holding the pipe was where i was thinking off.
