Adjusting the power steering pump
Alex_G60_Fanatic replied to Alex_G60_Fanatic's topic in Drivetrain
Can some one help me out for part numbers for the following parts shown bellow please? My Vagcat online seems to not be working correctly... -
i heard talk of pwer flex bushes not doing your wishbones any good... Apparently unless your into some serious speed or track racing OEM bushes with a R32 rear wishbone bush is the best set-up. As for mounts you need the oem rear mount, the gear box mount from a mk 2 Golf TDI and an OEM or Vibratechnics front mount. Never heard of AVO coilies before... but checking all your rubber bushes (including rear beam) is worth doing regardless of the drop on your car.

That's incredible! The boy should be shot... I've sold a few hum-dingers in my time but I would never sell anything that wasn't safe! What a tool.... as dannyboy says, you could have ended up with lots more problems than just a broken car... :pale: if it's along a seam then that should be fixable... YOur not supposed to hot weld the subframes because it can warp the frame... giving it a funny shape. If it's possible get the garage to weld it in-situ with the engine hoisted. If it's bolted to the car with no weight on it, it will be as close to it's original shape as your going to get it. A wonky subframe will effect your handling if it's bad. Get the garage to treat the subframe while they're down there too... the frame gets allot of stone chips and dirt from the road being where it is and you could do worse than giving it a coat of underseal :thumbleft: -

early 8v or golf ones might fit but they don't look the same... I'm not sure tbh. They come up from time to time though so just keep your eyes open. If your changing the subframe you might as well think about changing the wishbone mounts etc if they look a little worse for wear. Your not supposed to do this.... but I had my subframe welded up with some 10mm sheet steel and it's been like that for ages with no noticable problems. just a thought :) -

sounds like what happened to me! good job you found it in time! It's quite a large job tbh dude, you'll need the wheels, wishbones and track rods off the hubs and then you undo the gearbox mount and rear engine mount, then you support the engine with a hoist and drop the subframe out from underneath... the power steering pump is attached so you'll need to undo the rose joint on that too. I did this about a month ago and it took me and a mate with an engine hoist about 2 days. It's not for the faint hearted. Good news is that the subframe is not expensive second hand and I'm sure you'll find one on ehere or on ebay soon enough for about £70-£100 -

Adjusting the power steering pump
Alex_G60_Fanatic replied to Alex_G60_Fanatic's topic in Drivetrain
I think I'm going to have a go at adjusting the pump first David but if I can't get a nice tight belt I think I may have to change the brackets rather than drilling or shimming... Reason being i think the belt is loose because the pump got a nasty smack.... http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?44782-Alex-s-G60-Mistress-The-Crash...-Pg-39/page39 -

Slam panel is the bit you see when you open the bonnet and look down, where the head lights sit. The bit underneath is the radiator support pannel

is this still happening? -
have you looked in the classifieds section? Classifieds ---------- Post added at 06:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:05 PM ---------- all sorts of corrado's are out there... and all had leather as an option. Take a peak at the classifieds and see how you get on
-
you should notice a drop in power too... As supercharged says, the oval lock nuts are the bees knees
-
it is only out by a very minor degree... it closes fine its just the door seal that doesn't quite touch the top of the door frame now.
-
you may just get more than a cuddle! :camp: PM sent mate :thumbleft: ---------- Post added at 02:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:47 PM ---------- You mentioned the rad panel before mate but the one I have isn't that fubard... it's just a little warped at the bottom, still sits ok. Also I think your rad panel being a golf one is slightly different. I looked on ebay for a tool and their about £20 so i might just get one. Does anyone know if the door no longer fitting snug is a huge problem?

you got the sump mate?

didn't even know they existed!

Thanks for the kind words guys... was a very silly crash tbh and something that should have been avoided... The story goes I took out a mate in the car for a spin late Saturday night, just around the local roads. He had a shot and parked up in a car park so I could swap over and drive him home. I jumped in the drivers seat, planted my foot on the gas and didn't realize that there was a kerb in front of me... (it was one of those kerbs they sometimes pop in car parks to stop folk driving though spaces). Was going around 15-20 mph and hit the kerb drivers side wheel first. The car took off and I landed straddling the kerb. Took a look at the car Sunday morning after crying myself to sleep and now have an idea of what's going on.... The Alloy is f*cked... completely bent. I have a full size spare though and that's already on the car. The tyre had torn so that's scubbered too. Power steering pump took a whack. It still turns freely but now the belt barely touches the pulley.... must have bent the mounting bracket or something. It may be that i can just take it off and replace the mounting points? The sump is slightly crushed.. can't really dive the car until this has been changed in case the oil pick-up has been damaged. Will need a new one. Font bumper obviously took the brunt of the crash (the car now lowered by 30mm). The chin spoiler ripped off, the new rad support panel I fitted has bent up away from the chin spoiler and there is a few cracks along the under side of the bumper... will probably need to get a new one. The drivers side tracking arm is bent... looks like a chuffing bannana :( Will need a replacement. Has any one done this without removing the subframe? And that's it... hooray for my stupidity! The money I was going to spend on servicing the charger will now go on fixing these broken things... :( ---------- Post added at 09:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:51 AM ---------- oohhh there is one more thing that worries me more than any of that though... on closing the drivers side door the door seal at the top no longer meets the body panel... there is now a very slight gap
-
Disaster!!!!! Was driving about and crashed the c! :( Wasn't fast, just stupid... but was enough to brake the alloy, sump, power steering pump and front bumper. So gutted! Sent from my iPhone you lemon!

yeah think so! looked tidy... just not working
