  1. Recent changes made are a new MAF, Lambda Sensor and a new exhaust. May be totally unconnected but it's a struggle to start when cold. Coughs, splutters, doesn't want to get going but a lot of loud pedal gets it going and a couple of big revs gets it settled down. Think I heard a bit of squealing (fan belt?) this morning too. Not had time to scan or do anything to investigate. Would the new parts mean that a proper ECU reset is needed?
  2. I'm amazed the wheels haven't been snapped up yet. Was expecting them to appear on eBay by now.
  3. I'm at about 25 due to short journeys and a level crossign that always catches me!
  4. This is the odd thing really - it is not lowered at all. Still on standard springs but dampers replaced with Bilstein B4s but it's still pretty high up. Bit frustrated really but hopefully with a small chop and a bit of a wiggle they can resolve it for me. Yes - I can get codes that tell me I need to buy bits! I need to investigate what it can really tell me but it is doing the basic job thanks.
  5. Mixed news today. New aux water pump and rocker gasket both done. Hopefully I can forget about them for a few years! Exhaust - they moved it about and it's very close to / touching the rear axle. So much for the perfect Jetex fit! Got to go back again on Monday when they will cut a bit off to give them the adjustment they need to get it perfect.
  6. Ditchfinders - :bonk:- genuinely made me laugh out loud. Getting very funny looks from my staff now.
  7. As above really - awful news but good job the respray wasn't done as you'd have lost big time on that. I hope you get a decent pay out to get another Corrado in your life soon.
  8. black suits the overall car colour scheme better in my opinion
  9. Had a quick scan through the thread but didn't see if you sold the gear knob. If it's still available, how much posted please?
  10. No reason as far as I'm aware so if it's not one of those jobs where it makes sense "while your at it" like the gearbox / chains / clutch so I will leave well alone. Cheers
  11. So I am leaking from the auxilliary water pump and it's booked in for a replacement. I understand that it's a simple and quick job. All good. However, is it one of these cases where I should really get both water pumps done at the same time or is there no good reason to do so? Thanks in advance.
  12. I was wondering that too. 112 HP INCREASE? or 112 HP after the mod?
  13. Raised it with the garage who said it must have started to sag and the exhaust hangers were looking quite tired - happy to replace them as compared to the price of the exhaust it's not a lot but would have been better to get it all done in one go. Never mind, I am going back on Tuesday anyway.
  14. Only had the 12 mile trip home mostly through traffic so not had much chance to experience it but it is very shiny and does make a good noise without being too "Max Power" - I bought the quiet version, I am in my mid forties after all! ---------- Post added at 10:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:33 AM ---------- Mileage is now 79k but the age is the real issue I think - 18 years now. The exhaust they cut off (with LOTS of disks apparently) was the original item so it's done it's time really. My car is also my luxury, having stopped owning motorbikes, but even the little things really add up. But it is a joy when it's all working right. When I go back on Tuesday for the other work I will have to ask them to look again at the exhaust fitment as it is banging when I go over bumps in the road - and let's face it there are plenty of those in the UK! I was always under the impress the Jetex was a good fit. Perhaps they just need to try a bit harder at the garage!
  15. Just back fro Tuning Werkes with a new lambda sensor and a new Jetex exhaust. Which is all good. Not so good is that I have an oil leak from the rocker cover gasket and a leak from the auxiliary water pump, so it will be going back on Tuesday for some more love.
  16. Just back from Tuning Werkes in Croydon. They tested the lambda probe and basically it was a cheap piece of cr4p that has been replaced with a proper one and all sorted. Fuel economy is up. So in the last two weeks the VR6 has had a MAF, Lambda sensor AND a new Jetex exhaust.
  17. Dropped off for new Jetex exhaust and a bit of diagnostics on the fuel economy / lambda issue. Reuben seems like a nice bloke - even opened up an hour early so I could get to work in time!
  18. Red stuff seem to be good - http://www.ebcbrakes.com/reviews/redstuff-reviews.shtml also Pagid.
  19. Is this the Viper Green one?
  20. Two runs each showing horse power and Torque. Both hp results very similar and both torque readouts very similar. So all good.
  21. I have had that a couple of times and was wondering why - especially as my ABS is working properly. An Audi forum also discusses this and in amongst the post saying "take it to the garage" or "buy a DECENT cable" I found this from someone using a "cheap cable and freeware version" From what I can ascertain this normally happens if I have plugged it all in and started running the scan but forget to turn the ignition on so flip the ignition and then the system has a paddy. So I tend to start again, ignition on and then do a fresh scan it comes up fine. May or may not be the reason/fix but it works for me! Also some users say it's USB versus serial with serial being more reliable. Not tried it myself yet. This document will tell you the right procedure to get a clean scan. http://www.ross-tech.net/VCDS/download/manual/vcds-10-6-manual.pdf Now that we are all so used to everything being plug and play it's worth remembering sometimes you need to do things in a certain order when you have a old car on the other end of the connection.
  22. New MAF fitted and Jetex exhaust ordered from Tuning Werkes in Croydon. Rueben seems like a very helpful chap!
