  1. I guess it depends on whether you want to put up with the usual guff you have to put up with if you go down the pistonheads/autotrader route. My wife went through We Buy any Car years ago when she was selling her TT and compared to private sales they offered buttons. But that was a long time ago when they still used that god awful tune on their TV adverts! I believe they are less cheeky now and have local offices to view and confirm condition if your happy with the valuation. How did you find the 4 series? It was newly out when we were changing and had it not been for the wee one, would have been a serious consideration. What you getting from VW if you don't mind me asking? Dougie
  2.:cheers::bonk::smug: I was joking folks. But a good review none the less.
  3. Very enjoyable episode. As said, if you don't look in to much detail at it then it was a good advert for Corrado's in general. Good to see they acknowledged that Aqua Blue is the best colour! Can you imagine how much more excited they would have been if they had used a valver around the Go-Kart track!?? It would have been much more crisp around the corners without that big heavy lump of an engine swinging about up front ;-) Dougie
  4. Heads up, Wheeler Dealers is on Monday at 9pm on Discovery and its the Corrado. Dougie
  5. I can recommend Stevie Walker bodyshop in Bathgate, had some work done by them on my previous Audis and they were top notch.
  6. Brilliant! I think you should start a build thread in members gallery though!
  7. Ooooffft, I didnt know it could make things worse Mic! Oh well, with that in mind everyone, get medical advice and not advice of some guy that owns a 1994 Corrado. (And its not even a VR6! lol) Dougie
  8. Dont know if any of you have ever had, or still have this condition. I managed to get this about six months ago and it is basically an inner ear problem that affects your balance and makes your vision appear as though everything is spinning around. Its pretty horrible and I was off my work for a few weeks with it. Although I returned to work, I still experienced its effects up until a few weeks ago. The reason for my post was, I went to see a friend who is an Osteopath, and to cut a long story short he perfomed the "Epley maneouvre" on me and it has cured me of the effects of this completely. It may not work for everyone, but for the sake of the three minutes it took, it may change your life back to before you got this awful condition. Just trying to spread the word, as my GP never mentioned this when he diagnosed the condition. Dougie
  9. Mystic, Thanks very much for that, I have managed to get a 944 buying guide from a Porsche forum and it lists all the things you have mentioned in your post. I think I realise that 3k is probably going to buy me some issues unless I am really lucky, so it may be that I push the budget up a bit. Like the Corrado, it wont be a daily or the car I rely on, so I may be able to take a bit more of a risk on it. That said, I have a house move and renovation looming in October, so that may put my gas at a peep with disposable time I have on my hands. Thanks all for you help and suggestions so far. Dougie
  10. Cryptic.......... Obviously I would test drive the car before I decide on what I am doing, but by your post I am assuming you think I may not like them? I really am looking for peoples views, so would appreciate your thoughts on the 944.
  11. Just a shame that the bowden cables are goosed and all the hot air blows down at your feet lol! C's gotta love them.
  12. Daves a top man Fender, Sorted me out for a couple of bits and bobs recently, pleasure to deal with. Dougie
  13. Thanks for that Jim, I am just in that position where as much as I like the Corrado, it's not like if I sell, I would never be able to afford another one at a later time, should I wish to own one again. But I think you are right, I have made up my mind I will not be ploughing money into the respray. I will get it through its MOT next month and drive it until I find a replcement in the new year. I am never going to be the kind of person that spends over 10k on a car that would only be worth 6k tops if it were sold. Some folks like to do that and more power to them, but its just not for me. I know the Porsche doesnt have as "nice" an image as the Corrado, but I am not really bothered if people think Im an ar$e, plus I wont be hooning about the streets in it. Just like to drive something a bit different feeling from time to time. Also, after I have done my Porsche homework, it may be that I am put off by potential problem areas with them and look to buy another C but maybe in VR form. Thanks for all the input so far guys Dougie
  14. Good comments so far (not including you BristolB Lol!) The car is pretty good mechanically and has had all of suspension brakes etc replaced. I don't mind the ongoing small costs, but when its a larger investment like a respray it really has made me question whether it is worth it or not. I like the car, its a toy, I don't have any attachment to it, and it could be replaced easily. I am struggling between buying another C that is good bodily but that I could use all the new parts I have put on my current car, but that would restrict me to another valver. Or do I just buy a VR that is good bodily and just start the merry go round again. Or as previousy said go down the Porsche route (I still think I could get a decent solid car for the budget) Its not that I want a mint body on the car, it is more that it is now requiring paint and rust treating or it will be a scrapper (fuel filler, front leading edge of sills etc) and I wouldn't be doing it with future value as a consideration. Ooooofftttt, I just do not know.
  15. Well, I have reached a point with my Corrado where I am wondering what to do with it. I have been given a quote from a body shop to carry out all the necessary repairs and respray the entire car. I have heard good things about their work and through a contact they have given me a decent discount. However, it is going to cost me a couple of grand, and although I always knew this would be the ballpark, when it comes to the decision I am not sure I can justify plouging that money into a 16V Corrado with 140k on the clock. Its not the money that is the issue, more the cold decision of "is it worth it?" What are peoples thoughts? I am pretty sure a few of you will have reached this junction with your cars, and I have always had a hankering for a porsche 944, I am thinking this may be the time to just go a bit extra and spend 2.5-3K a get a failry decent example of one of them. Or do I stick with a corrado and buy another one with better/good bodywork? Decisions decisions Dougie
  16. As Jamie says, Heritage will get them for you without the shipping costs, but you will have to wait.
  17. If I looked at ETKA correctly its: 191 819 130 Hope this helps Dougie PS added to say I checked Clasic parts and its available at 1.62 Euro's
  18. I got trim clips from VW heritage about a year ago, I would need to dig out the part number but they did supply them through classic parts. Dougie
  19. A good 944 turbo and stick it away, I think these are going to see some serious price rises in the very near future, in fact they have been on the rise for a little while already. I pondered between a 944 or the Corrado, and I have to say, the Corrado has been pretty reliable but I do still think I wish I had bought a 944 instead (not a turbo btw, the toy budget didnt stretch to that) You could do what we did, pay 25k for an Audi A5 and watch it squirt away 2k a year in depreciation! Dougie
  20. That Sir, looks spot on. Now get that exhaust tip straightened up and polished! Dougie
  21. Andi, I completely agree with, and respect the time and effort that you put into this forum. I also disagree with the response to this competition that EJ has posted. It may be that you are correct and he has had a bad day and it was a rash post to make. However, I think many forums, car forums in particular, are starting to look at their users as customers. This is not a good way in my opinion, without users a forum is nothing. I am more than happy to input into a forum with any help or advice I may have. Many individuals on this forum go way above that and offer services for free, they also make donations to keep the forum going. However, contributing financially is not something I wish to do, but I do recognise that advertising is required for the site to survive, which I am more than comfortable with. I would be very careful of directing ire at users that do not make financial contribution. The acid test would be to make the forum subscription on registering, I think that would have a massive effect on the amount of users that would have joined. I guess that experiment has already been done with the CCGB forum, so maybe that would be a benchmark on how the forum would be populated. This is a great forum, if it takes advertising to keep it alive, more power to it. Just my tuppence Dougie
  22. Thanks bud. I think we spoke about the wings before, they look in great condition, just wanting a pair with the arches still on them. Hard to see from the picture, but it looks as though the sill sections are the middle section, I am looking to get the front section that curves into the wheel arch above the jacking points (usual rot area)so I will pass on them too. That S2 looks great, I have always had a fancy for that shape Audi coupe, cheap as chips for the non s models and I do think they will start to rise in price. Dougie
  23. Thats good you got the car moved on, someone has got themselves a good example. What you looking for the sill sections mate? Are they the full section that is available from clasic parts? Do the aqua blue wings have rolled arches? Dougie
